Ellsworth winning the women's MITB was almost as bad as Santino winning the Diva's Battle Royal. At least the Ellsworth incident had some storyline consistency. But both screamed of Vince saying, "A meaningful women's match? Wouldn't it be hilarious if..."
You know what? I'll give the Santina thing more credit because they eventually ended the gimmick with the revelation that Santina really was Santino's sister and not just him in drags the entire time, which was the first and last entertaining part of that gimmick. So at least, canonically that Battle Royale WAS won by a woman.

The MITB match where Ellsworth “won” the briefcase is the Cyberpunk of MITB matches, it looked absolutely awesome and everybody was excited for it, then they got the end product and realized they should’ve saved their pennies
To this day I don't remember saving a dime for that game it just showed up to my house with my name on it

I was in the audience in Ottawa. I don't know how it played on TV but the crowd was very much into the match.
The fact that Ellsworth has beaten Styles three times is mind boggling
You can thank Dean Ambrose for that.
And fourth time wasn't the charm when he Styles one with a simple punch to the face like in that pilot episode of Drake and Josh
And yet, I would take every single one of those matches over the "best" scaffold match.
I don't know, I could watch Cornette wreck himself over and over and over...
I still say the Sledgehammer ladder wasn't too bad both worked with the limitations and had a not so terrible match honestly. Slow but effective.
It wasn't awful but if it had been a Sledgehammer on a Pole match the same effect would've been achieved, and I think that would've been more natural.

The match was OK. I think people hate on the whole match/angle because it diminished CM Punk's momentun in 2011.
I saw the #2 pick on this list live and boy did the crowd not give any fucks about that match. In fact, the promo that preluded the match got over more (which even then wasn't that much) than the actual match. People ho-hummed after it was over and were ready for the show to start.
Oh god the triple h and kevin nash ladder match was just awful
It also didn't help that none of the women in that match had never competed in a ladder match before.
At 4:45, I gotta admit, the ladder match with Stone Cold taking on Vince and Shane wasn’t that interesting, in fact King Of The Ring 1999 was a boring show 👎

I can't resist saying that if anyone reading this hasn't seen the ladder match between Crazy Crusher Vs Hell Storm from EWR then you owe it to yourself to watch it. You'll never look at ladder matches in quite the same way after watching that.

Nash vs Triple H is actually better than it should have been.
Ellsworth vs styles shouldn't even be on the list. It was a good angle at the time
I liked The Austin vs McMahonys ladder match the only thing I didn't like was the finish it worked for the time
I don't think Nash vs HHH was bad,however Kevin Nash being there in the feud between Punk and HHH was the epitome of "Who Invited my man blud😭,bro think he is in the team😭" or "They be just letting anybody in💀"

The sledgehammer ladder match could’ve worked in the attitude era or ruthless aggression ears but it didn’t in 2011.

@@noobyguyplays1776 I know it’s just thats a waste for the stipulation which could’ve gone to a much more deserved match particularly that triple threat tag team match like really you got 3 of the best tag teams on smackdown live at the time and instead of having them climb a ladder for the tag team titles we got Bobby lashley and Elias fighting over a fucking guitar that could’ve been put on a pole

I actually liked the first ever Women's MITB Ladder match since it was super historic and it wasn't that all bad. The only bad part was Ellsworth getting the briefcase for Mella. But Mella was a heel and she was too tired to climb the ladder so she got Ellsworth to get it for her. At least it had some storyline value and it was all part of the Mella heel gimmick. Also the Women's MITB 2021 match wasn't bad either. I remember the crowd loving the match. Imo I liked it

the three stages of hell match was a good match overall imo but the ladder match was a little lacking but i feel like it’s understandable because triple h was injured and they just wrestled for like 20 minutes before the ladder match part happened

You need the right people in a ladder match
While the #1 one absolutely deserves the spot, the first women's MITB should be higher. That match straight up made me almost quit watching wrestling for a while. The horrendous booking, weaker than expected performance with half the competitors being solid to great performers, ane worst of all, them running it back on Smackdown and changing nothing but making Carmella actually grab the briefcase. They could have just done the smackdown one at MITB and the complaints of giving someone as green as Carmella the first MITB win over Charlotte, Becky, or even Natalya would have been one of the far fewer complaints.
The idea of the finish of the the 1st Woman's Money in the Bank Ladder Match was an interesting idea to be fair, just implanted horribly. The idea that a heel would have someone else who isnt in the match retrieve the briefcase for them is a interesting finish, but it should have been done with an actual female, not Ellsworth. Also does a third of a match actually count? I know Triple H and Michaels Ladder Match at Armageddon 02 is bad, but it's a third of a match.

First money in bank for the ladies had a redo on free TV about a week later
For context first ever Men’s Money in the Bank Edge wins and completes the greatest cash in still possibly ever. First ever Women’s Money in the Bank won by a crappy male comedy and mixed gender match wrestler with no chin resulting in a cash in I have zero memory of I’m glad we went from that to a world where NXT gave their women a mid card title in a ladder match that was an utter banger then just a couple weeks later the Women’s Money in the Bank from this year crushed the Men’s match by a mile

Ladder matches generally suck actually. I see people get excited for spots that took two minutes to set up. Yeah, this list is full of okay matches that I find better than a lot of MITBs just because they feel like real matches instead of stunt fests.
The earlier MITB matches that were held at wrestlemania were pretty good until wwe started to make a ppv out of it and do the concept to death
Was really expecting #1 to be the dual cinematic MITB matches from lockdown MITB. Those were terrrrible
The intros are skipped everytime. Just get right into it. Don't need the cute stuff

Me and a couple of friends watched the 15th anniversary of raw… Carlito vs Jeff Hardy for the ic title in a ladder match…somehow they made it a walk and brawl With ladders…and it ended very anticlimactic, when Jeff just…regularly won.
