    In this video I demonstrate how to set up the Monogram Creative Console as a control surface in Logic Pro. Technically speaking, this method could work for just about any MIDI controller, but I can't guarantee that the settings I use in this video will work for your MIDI controller. Enjoy!

    just so you guys know, the Nektar panorama P1 does all this and much much much more for far cheaper. It auto assigns everything in logic, with controls for parameters in any of the logic plugins and instruments, and has a very intuitive program to easily configure 3rd party plugins. I'm not a shill I promise, it really just is THAT good. Unless you want a fancy looking modular setup like this one and don't mind dumping dough :)

    Another fantastic vid. I'm a huge advocate of using Monogram CC in my Logic/FCP workflow. So much editing time saved by condensing keyboard commands and shortcuts into custom sets of templates for tracking, editing, mixing and mastering.. Only thing I would like to see carried over is illuminating the labeling onto the controller pads and sliders if that could be engineered. Great product for heavy productivity users..!

      There are definitely cheaper control surfaces, or ones for about the same price without all the setup, but you have to decide if the price is worth the form factor. For me, it is, just because I don't have enough space for a full size control surface.

    brilliant! Could I programme a volume fader to always apply to whatever track is selected?

    Gr8 ! But... when you select a new group, without motorised faders , you loose your previous setting... you can't just adjust them, you start from the biginnig isn'it?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  Рік тому +1

      Yep! That's the downside of using a MIDI controller as a control surface, you have to move the fader and "re-catch" the fader position when you use it. If that's a problem for you, then I would not recommend this unit, take your money and buy a real control surface that's compatible with Logic.

    Could you assign that jog wheel to a fx?
    I could see you being able to scratch with this.
    Jog wheel does time sliders do volume?

    Great video walk through. Do you know if we can map parameters for Dolby Atmos surround panning within Logic? Looks like a breeze for stereo... any insight with Atmos panning will be much obliged!

    I'm failing to see how useful this thing is. How do you get around the static fader positions on the monogram? Example: you pull fader 1, bank 1 down all the way. You move to bank 2 where fader 1 is up, but you want to pull it down. The corresponding fader on the monogram is all the way down from the previous fader move. What do you do there? Would you not be be better off buying a Behringer X Touch?

    Many thanks for another great post. I'm going crazy looking for a control surface equally good for both Sculpture (morph pad) and Alchemy (performance pads). I play guitar parts through side-chained Sculpture and would especially love to move around in the morph pad live myself as opposed to letting Sculpture do it for me. Any suggestions?

    A very interesting piece of gear, but listening to you saying that it’s quite complex to set up. Moreover I found out that it’s also quite expensive. Therefore my question: Is there a hardware controller (not modular) that you can do quite the same with, but that‘s already set up for the use with Logic? Is the Nektar P1 such a thing?

    I had a control unit from a MAJOR named brand & it bmessed up the MIDI to such an extent I had to do a 16 hour complete system reset from Time Machine. I was going to do a review on YT but the manufacturer had a clause in their tech support chat that prevented me from going public. Does the system YOU are using work seamlessly? The issue I had o the other system was that it failed to recognise Buss / Aux channels.

    Love it, question though, are the sliders motorized ? They don't seems to be. If they are not, how do you work this out when you are navigating in banks or adjust on the Logic mixer ?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 роки тому

      They are not motorized. This controller is meant to be a MIDI controller, not a control surface. I'm just simply using it as a control surface, because of it's form factor. So it's definitely a work-around. For the faders, you just have to "catch" the fader position manually.

    for someone who adore your videos and follow you for years now, wanted to ask I guess they sent it to you for free but if you needed to pay for it is it really worth it how can you justify like 1000$ for a midi controller?

    Didnt make it through the video yet just skimmed but at first I was worried this was just gunna one of those videos talking about a product and all we get to see is the guy's face but but after skimming through 1/4 of the video I'm happy to say there is shots of the product and it's not just this guy vlogging/streaming the whole time

    • @xXBLAKGOATXx
      @xXBLAKGOATXx 2 роки тому

      Shit but soons it goes to the shots showing the product and screen recording the audio goes to shit I'm guessing I stumbled apon a steamer or vlogger that just happens to be talking about this product I'm interested in, in that case Imma go watch a UA-camr that's derivated to reviewing and talking about tech as I believe the content will be more informative and at the very least the audio will be of a much better recording

      If ya could redo the video with better audio I think this would do much better BC I really wanna actually watch the video BC it looks somewhat informative but I can't fully judge that BC the audio with headphones hurts my ears like I don't even wanna hear anything your saying, I might try to rewatch with video muted and captions on but I doubt many others are thinking of going to those lengths just to see if the contents going to be informative or not
