    One can argue hyperflexion or rolker neither should be accepted in the ring. It does more damage to the horse biomecanically and is absolutely ugly and difficult to watch. It goes against the fei rules yet is totally acceptable by the judges. This is not classical dressage. This is modern dressage, twisted and molded by those with plenty of money in the European countries. Sad reflection of corruption at the highest levels with no regard to equine welfare. Blame the judges to start, but it goes to the big corporate breeders and money makers. Sad for the equine.

    I will never understand why dressage is viewed differently from dancing bears in a circus. It is the most unnatural thing to force a horse to do. And the misery and agony it causes the horses is nothing short of torture. And what you see here is just a glimpse of the surface. What goes on behind closed doors to get the horses to this point is grotesque. The sad thing is most equestrians support this. Even the ones that claim to love horses, and actually, probably do love horses, defend this. And many will jump to defend this if anyone calls this out as cruelty. It makes no sense to love horses, yet let this happen to them.

    This is not a sport geared towards animal health and longevity. It is simply a beauty contest like most other show horses are. Dressage is no different than western pleasure, big lick horses, or halter horses.
    The aim of all breed shows is to get a young animal, train him to a level of ridiculous that the animal cannot sustain, break him down so the owner has to buy another expensive horse, and the poor show horse goes to the kill pen.

      @@julie99nl You purposely posted a shitty framed clip of a of a crappy situation for what purpose?
      Do you know this rider or do you follow her career?
      This is a 30 second clip out of a 5 minute test excluding showing lap. Set in a high pressure situation where horse and rider had extremely limited time to acclimate. Cause covid etc etc. Plus both bits that she & crew thought was FEI qualified got rejected 3 days before the start. Her plastic snaffle and silicon curb where rejected by the FEI, which made her ride with 2 metal bits. Which is a fuck tone sharper than plastic/silicon combo. 2 months after the Olympics the FEI confirmed that they made an error by rejecting the bit.
      This isn't rollcure or abuse, this is a shitty situation. Could this have been handeld differently? Most likely. Experience is a great educator. She learnt from this and gave no blame to the horse.
      This horse isn't ridden or trained with draw reigns. As some have assumed.
      The horse has a very round/plump structure. The horse is approximately 170cm, with a petite saddle & rider. If you follow the elbow line upwards it does not cut into the knee flap. The neck makes it seem like the saddle is to far forward. The neck also fills in a lot of space when bent in comparison to Charlotte's horse Rio.
      The noseband is fitted lose enough that the horse can move it's jaw and avoid contact. The horse is moving his mouth to adjust to the bit, and is actively putting it's weight into the bit. She keeps giving leg to ride him out of the bit, while holding him up to minimise any rolcure effect. Her spurs don't "dig into the flesh" any further than Steffen Peters sidestepping on Suppenkasper, who is very relaxed with his aids.
      You would have seen that there was a built up towards the last line in which this happened, which you failed to show.
      95% of these comments are assumptions by sidelines watchers with an know it all attitude, on an unfortunately filmed and placed video. You as poster of the video aren't any better, you're worse. This is ridiculously close to slander, if it isn't already.
      If you saw clips of Charlotte's horse freaking out people wouldn't say a thing. But here a 30 second clip says all?

      @HorseAmateur 2 роки тому +2

      @@olivia_q I insist : this is not. Most of the people who did comment this video are confusing standard resistance against the coercition of the movement by strength. No advanced riders would use rollkür while competing: judges would not accept it. It is a training and warm-up technique, heavily monitored during competitions. All of you who did comment need better equitation training. Horse resistance to demands of a rider happen to beginners as well as to top level riders. It is impossible to avoid resistance on any living person or animal. Sometimes it works in the warm-up and not in front of the judges. It works perfectly at home, and suddenly the horse resists at the same demand. It is a living animal, and it is the harmony and understanding of each other that riders try to achieve. Sometimes it is not working at all. But definitely in competition, in front of judges and the public, IT IS NOT ROLLKÜR.

    • @lilipetrovicz1241
      @lilipetrovicz1241 2 роки тому +7

      @@HorseAmateur I'm sorry but you are the one misunderstanding the definition. Standard resistance should very light, very very very light, so light that the reins can still be loose. Here the horse has all it's weight in the riders hand, the legs hold a very small percentage of the animals weight, it just pushes into the riders hand (pushing forward and down, rather then the powers going up). It is Rollkür, and it is the absolute worst, it is NEVER to be used. Why teach a horse to push all its weight into your hands, when you could teach it to hold itself? Have you ever seen a human gymnast on the Olympics with their trainer holding their hands on the beam?
      And also, as others have already stated, it causes so much damage to the horse. Do you think, for starters, that poor soul there can breathe properly for instance? Or that this is good for their muscles? And the way I saw, it was the absolute worst try of a piaffe.... The legs were behind the horse, instead of carrying the weight, the head moving down, the rider constantly giving more leg, while holding back the horse with full power.
      What is wrong with that you ask? The point of a piaffe is that the horse is powerful enough that the hind legs move under the belly, the head and the shoulders raise up as the weight shifts backwards, and as a consequence the forward movement of the body instead is being directed upwards, so we get a horse doing a "trot in place".
      It is awful, no excuses for that. Not even the lack of knowledge, because at this "level" this shouldn't be a controversial topic, it shoould be banned.
