A trick play that takes multiple pitches to pull off, but ends with an out and a back pick by the catcher.

I've seen this play used to perfection. Catcher threw back about head high until he got his victim.. then threw one just above the pitchers head and he had to be in on it as he never moved to catch it.. second baseman received it and easy tag out... even I as the plate umpire could have made the call (had a partner on bases)... beautiful play when you can get it to work. But it does need to be set up... I know as a catcher and hitter.. I would set things up innings before I needed them.. rainbows to second... until there was a baserunner trying to steal, then suddenly launch a bullet... Never do you best throws in warmups.. don't let the other side see anything quality until it's needed.. When I coached at large diamond levels.. I used to also teach multiple pickoff moves.. had one kid with a really good one.. but the first attempt of the game.. everyone had seen it and it was no longer effective.. I taught him to used a second one nowhere near as good.. more of a show-me move.. keep guys close.... then break out the good one when you have a sucker in position... He thanked me in later years...Used to pluck nearly a runner off a game until they played that team a few times...
That wasn't a trick play. That happens quite often in LL. I was a pitcher and I can recall doing the same play several times.
Catcher still gotta have a cannon to pull this off
that wasn't a play, the runner just got off too far. the throws before were from his knee with a hump.
It's an easy play when you have 12 and 13 year olds playing on a diamond made for 8, 9, and 10 year olds
They changed the age cutoff date years ago. You will never see a 13 year old again in the LL World Series (unless they change the age back which I doubt will ever happen).
College kids getting shorter these days!
Same result, but your catcher’s commitment to the set up wasn’t nearly as good.
The runner should have been heading back to second on every pitch. Should not have happened.
A pick off is not a trick play 🤦♂️
At sub 12 yrs old leagues, this play happens by accident from time to time, also. Catcher air-mails the throw back to the pitcher ... for an out at 2B. Oops.
Played baseball travel , high , college never seen this
Not a trick play, just catching someone sleeping lol.
NOT a trick play.
