The amp actually has channelbleeding, when youre in the OD1 Channel, you can crank the Classic Volume and get a fuller and thicker sound! Give it a try if you didn't know that yet.
Thanks for sharing. My 1998 DLS 100 jcm2000. one of my favorite amps. Have had to replace the main motherboard because of the bias drift issues. The new board fixed it and it's still rocking. I've mod it a bit. New plexi spec output tranny, choke and a few changes to the circuit. still one of my favorites.
Hello there Todd .. just got a 2003 year DSL 50 .. never been touched inside for a great price .. this amp is awesome ! Love the green crunch channel with my pedals.. great demo, thanks for the inspiration !!
As of November 2021, I got my first valve amp and it was a JCM2000 DSL50. Classic Gain with the boost engaged or OD1, gains and volumes on 7, Bass on 3 with the deep switch engaged, Middle and Treble on 7. Absolutely bloody glorious! Next on the list of Marshall's is a 6100LM and a JCM900 Mk3!
Also a fun way to use the crunch channel is a platform for fuzz! I use a Coopersonic Germaniac fuzz with a Ricochet on the Oct+dry into the crunch channel, cranked it's absolutely hellish.
Hi. I preorderet mine in early 97. And got my hands on one of the first to come to Norway. Its still my go to amp in all settings. The only thing i change in the different situasjons (blues rock country pop ….) is the guitar. E 0:420:45 verything is basically on 12 o clock, and Tc elecronic reverb and delay in loop, and a boss cs 3 as a boost in front . And Thats it, has been like that since 97. Love it.
You described perfectly why I only use the green channel on my 100W version. With a well stocked pedal board in front (and the effects loop) you do almost all rock things well. I also run a 300W Weber attenuator with it to make it more volume friendly.
Great tones and playing as always Leon. This is my favorite Marshall amp. The green "clean" channel on this amp actually sounds very similar to a 1971 Fender Silverface Twin Reverb but running into a Marshall 1960A 4X12 extension cabinet gives a different tone profile than the 2X12 Fender Twin cabinet with JBL D120's. I run my 1960A cab with a combination of T-75 and V30 speakers and it's a great clean tone and edge of breakup tone that I use for super wet effected sounds. It works well in a mix and blends really nicely into a track without fighting to sit on top of a mix, like some other amps do.
@@LeonTodd Agreed! Most of the time when I use the Green channel, I only mic up the T75. It would be really cool to see a Marshall DSL100 JCM2000 Green channel model added to the Axe-FX roster of amp models at some point. I believe that it will eventually become known as one of Marshall's top 3 classic amps along with the SLP100 and the JCM800. I think it's a superior sounding amp to the JCM900, JMP-1, JTM-45 or any of the JVM series amps. Joe Satriani used the JCM 2000 for many years and still uses it, often preffering it's tones over his own signature amps or 5150's that he's known for. Satch also lives Rockman and SansAmp PSA-1. They all have their place, but the JCM2000 is a real classic too and has a very natural breakup and great tone for rhythm guitar tracks.
