I like how this channel features watches that few other channels cover. This citizen , Seiko szsb and the Archimede klassik are watches I couldn't find decent reviews for. Average bros had them within weeks of each other. You've got a new subscriber👌
True. Other channels are featuring watches that are already "expected" to be reviewed. In a way, if everybody is doing it, popular views will be raking in. But I like it that I can find amazing finds here that I wouldnt necessarily have known if it wasnt for this channel. This piece for instance
I'm so happy you reviewed this watch, I find it almost perfect. I have always felt Citizen really shines and stands out design-wise when going minimal, and this is a masterpiece of simplicity and overall balance. I will try to get my hands on one, thank you.
I love when Citizen releases a beautiful all around watch with solid finishing, beauty dial, that 9 series that’s slightly decorated. Well done especially at 38mm. I may just have to grab the blue or black model. I just grabbed a Seiko Spb165 white hemp dial and it’s a stunner for sure but just to round it out. Big fan of Citizen and what they do. Thanks for review !
came from a random recommendation, but this is the watch style i've been looking for! subbed, thanks for covering such watches that most channels don't even cover!
FYI - I also have a 7.25 inch wrist. I just purchased this watch and I am happy to report that I was able to adjust the bracelet rather easily and quickly to fit me very comfortable. Nice watch.
Now that's something I wanted to see from Citizen. I like their divers so a nice everyday sports automatic watch is a great move. A touch retro, nice size, well made, good movement, I like it very much!
My only advice is to put it on a (19mm) strap. It the perfect average watch which makes it appealing. If they really want to go bold they'll make a 36mm version.
There is the sharp edged series (SPB167J1 and others) from Seiko. Is more direction of Grand Seiko than this Citizen. The price of the Citizen is tempting though.
- Case design and finish (from my point of view of course) goes to old SARB033/035 - Better bracelet goes to Citizen - Better movement goes to Citizen - Clasp is crappy on both SARB series and this Citizen - Dial is about the same, simple, but I think I prefer the SARB dial more Overall, if you can't find a SARB at a decent price, this Citizen is really a no brainer :).
Mine arrived today. Aside from the missing micro adjustments, this watch is outstanding! I was able to get a good fit but I would have paid more for a better clasp with more adjustments.
Finally got this watch from Japan in the black dial variant. Gotta say, its an amazing watch. Its a weird combination of understated elegance while yet being eye catching. Highly recommended!
Ordered the blue and got delivered yesterday. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and it’s perfect. No problem getting a good fit. Yes, 19 mm bracelet but don’t stress,…the wider center link makes it look wider.
Wow great purchase. What do you think of the qualoty of the watch so far? I'm about to place an order... But can't make up my mind between black and blue... Don't know if the black also has the amazing sunburst dial.
Quality is incredible. Have the Sarb twins and have to say the finishing is better on the citizen. The bracelet is better too. Fit and finish all around is a step above the Sarb. I went with the blue because I didn’t have a blue dial in my collection. The sunburst is perfect. That shiny black dial tho….👌
Do you feel like it wears true to 38mm? My wrist is around 6 inches and I'm really considering getting one, but am concerned about lug overhang. Do they feel like they curve down well?
@@zakibrowning4182 I have a 6.5 inch wrist and my wrist span is 54-55 mm. So my wrist is pretty flat in that respect. I’m lucky that way I guess. The Citizen fits perfectly on my wrist. The bezel on the Citizen is 38mm whereas the bezel on the Sarb is 36 mm so it wears a hair bigger than the Sarb (dial-wise). I think the Sarb wears small for a 38 mm because if this. The lugs turn down nicely. Not quite as much as the Sarb, but then, the Sarb’s lugs turn down more than any other watch in my collection. If you like the Sarb, you will LOVE the citizen.
Really nice piece, I've been eyeballing one as my next go-to everyday watch. I've yet to find the watch that ticks all the nitpicky boxes for me, but this is pretty dang close! The polishing on the inner side of the bezel is beautiful, not sure I've seen that before. Also really appreciate the "low light transition" segment, super helpful for determining how useful the lume is. It's pretty rare that I'm in a fully dark room so that was great! Thanks for the great review.
I have just added a bracelet extension with micro adjustments to help with getting a better fit. Visually its okayish but youre not looking at the clasp most time of the day, therefore i think its a good fix for those who are not able to get a good fit otherwise.
Thx for that. This review was packed with interesting information, enough to “seal the deal “. The blue dial will be on the way. I have many white dials, so change will do me good!! Thx again. brt
I am a big fan of Citizen, I have 2 automatics and one Eco-Drive and I love the simplicity and quality of their designs. This watch knocks it out of the park in that respect. It looks amazing, and the 9011 movement is a huge improvement over most other Japanese watches in this price range. I would put this one against the Tissot Gentelman, which is surprisingly similar in many respects. I think they go toe to toe in terms of design and quality.
Love this watch, I have the white version. Bracelet is about the same quality as the SARB…what I’d expect for around $400 if you shop around. There is room for a third tighter pair of micro adjustment holes, which a local jeweler added for me, fixed the issue of being a little too loose for my wrist.
2nd comment: I’m floored by this watch. In person it’s just perfect to me. Looks like I’m a fanboy. I couldn’t see going Swiss or German again. Gaining about 5 seconds a day. Some clasp-gap. Oh well.
That looks better than the Sarb035. And its slightly bigger and would fit better on my wrist @ 7.5. Though I prefer the Sarb ivory/off-white colour more. The Sarb case tends to pop above the bracelet on large wrists, so it doesn't quite sit right, also I much prefer male first centrelink, it just wraps around the larger wrists better.
Beautiful time piece, my only issue coud be the missing more micro-adjustment, I have the Seiko Baby Alpinist and I wasn´t abble to fit the bracelet in my 6,5 inch /16,5 cm
These 38 mms are really nice to see from Citizen. For a while they've had these automatics that were oversized. Hope that one day we see an Alpinist-type in the same size, hopefully time-only pieces too. They do have time-only movements.
I have a Citizen NK0000-10A automatic (dress watch) on the black leather strap with deployant clasp. I ordered it online as I hadn’t seen one locally. I researched it of course, but because the watch is basically all face, it does wear big for a 41mm watch, even on my 7.5” wrist, so I know what you mean. However, I do like my watch very much and will keep it. Just a note to self for the future.
This is the first Citizen watch I've paid attention to and it's much nicer than I was expecting. I have another watch that has a Miyota Calibre 90XX that is very accurate so I'm not afraid of the movement. I've been set on the white dial Seiko Presage Sharp-edge watch that runs a few hundred bucks (USD) greater than the Citizen. The one feature I like about the Seuko is the high quality of their dials, but the Citizen's dial is a classic, understated. I now have this on my lst
Definitely a great looking watch. So many cool details, it seems the more you admire it the more you notice. I've never heard of this movement but I imagine it's due to the date being at 3 oclock and not 6 oclock. Do you experience the "Miyota rotor spin" at all? Great review dude, Citizen really nailed it with this one. It's a shame it only has two microadjusts and no half links because like you said, that can ruin getting a perfect fit.
Absolutely good review. Thanks. One thing puts me off purchasing it is the19 mm lug width. One of my seiko watches has 19mm and I am absolutely not fan of this 😬😒
Thanks for this review. I bought this model, and was surprised by two things. One, the dial looks more silver than white to me in most lights. Two, it wears bigger than a 38 in my opinion, which I like.
Mine is on the way. Perfect for what I'm looking for in an everyday watch. I hope I don't have problems with the bracelet, otherwise the Swiss lose again.
@@manzahalem8845 I had 2 links removed and the bracelet adjusted one position. I Have small wrists I guess. The watch is my new daily wearer, runs about 5 seconds fast a day. Well pleased.

I sold my Traska after I received this watch. The Traska is terrific but the Citizen is better and I don't need 2 white dial watches. Also, the 38mm is a nicer fit for me. But, if you like the Traska... it's still a solid choice!
