Gorgeous apt! One reason my marriage works is that my H doesn’t care about how I decorate, lol. He noticed a “new” lamp…two years later.
Hahaah okay that is hilarious 😂😂🤣
My husband says he doesn’t care. However, when I start my process, he has SO MANY opinions and they DO NOT agree with my aesthetic. Argh! Funny though, we have already had to paint over several of his wall color choices. Yes, I will remind him of that when we are discussing (arguing) design and color. Lol
@@lynnharrell9598 my dad is similar 😅 my mom wants to change some things up and my dad always vetos it. So whenever my mom tries to come up and ask him first he sais he doesn't care, and does not want to have to think about these things. But whenever my mom then goes out und buys a new chair or curtains, he doesn't like them. Always. 🙈 Thankfully My husband is different 😂 he does have a certain aesthetic and an opinion, wich differs from my style - wich is difficult to Macht them sometimes, but at least we can talk about theses things and make some desicions together and noone is upset afterwards 😏❤️
Funny...my husband DOES have an option and he is actually really good! COVID finally taught him how to paint so decorating is much more fun (and easier!)...
My husband is the same way. He doesn't care what I buy or how I decorate.
The fact that Noah was my summer camp counselor for years and I only now found out that he’s your boyfriend!? Mind blowing🤯
I ASKED my boyfriend several times “Is it cool if I buy X things for the apartment?” And he’s like “Yeah, I don’t care. Do whatever you want. Stop asking.” Flash forward a few weeks and he’s like “I don’t like it.” Girl. I went off lol
SAME!!!
Next time when you are buying something, let's say it is a lounge chair, go with two options (either one is to your liking!) and present the two options to your significant other and have him chose one. That way he'd have an input and you'd be happy too. And it would be a Win-Win situation for both of you. ;)
@@nycgraphist Such a wise advice! Thank you!
@@nycgraphist Agreed! Definitely have done this one before. My husband and I have pretty similar tastes so it's a bit easier. I found his one no-go is anything floral (i.e. floral wall paper or art or decorative pillows). It's a bit to "girly" for him. But I have my own space, our sunroom, where he doesn't like to go. So I can floral that place up and he doesn't say a thing ;)
omg yeah!! I wanted to paint our bedroom white and I showed him the colour and asked if he liked it and he's like i don't care and I asked several times and he's like i don't care and then we painted and he's like "I think it's too bright" and it's like AGHGGH but he's cool with it now lol
Ahhh! I had a moment where I thought she was renting Kelsey’s upstairs from The Sorry Girls haha I know the timing doesn’t make sense and it’s not the same place but I had a moment where the stars aligned lol
I mean, they are in Canada 👀
Would you ever consider making a video discussing how to go about talking to a potential landlord about pre-move in updates to the space (ex: scraping popcorn ceilings, removing carpet, etc)? Would love some tips or dos and donts!
This is a great idea for a video
I agree. I have never heard of anyone asking a landlord to change flooring and update a kitchen before moving in…
@@sydneyvank3434 it’s a great idea unless you have an unscrupulous landlord and you upgrade the space so much that they decide to up your rent! I wonder if there is a way to write into the contract that they won’t do that! I swear I heard recently of a landlord doing that. Landlords are not going to complain if a renter wants to invest in their property - although are likely to want to veto choices of permanent fixtures (kitchens, bathrooms, flooring) which may not appeal to a broader rental market.
Hah, good luck finding a landlord to allow anything like this.. or most things she does in her apartments for that matter. 🙄 all the land owners around me want $1000 for a place that's falling apart and they won't even allow pets.
I don't think I've ever seen a kitchen with a bench like this and I'm obsessed!!! That window, and it's gonna look so good with cushions and imagine relaxing there and reading or something while your partner cooks and you can just chat a little and it's just gonna be lovely to hang out with together while one person cooks and the other person just wants to relax but you will want to spend time together.... can you tell I'm in love?
what a cool idea to put a bench into a kitchen!!
Oh that bath !!! Speaking from experience, be sure to allow Noah his opinions and dealbreakers - it can be easy to get everything your own way when your bloke is such a sweetie. 13 years living with my easygoing husband and our current home has an office that's all his. It's so messy it puts my teeth on edge but it's his space - I simply close the door when it gets too much. So excited for you both. Hi from Australia xx
I love how you phrased this. I think I have a door to close… #SweetHusbands 💘
omg, thats literally what I do with my husband's office, it's MESSY but it's his space! lol
Same on my husband’s office. Also I am an American married to a kiwi. I have design domain and power of veto on the inside of our home and he has that on the outside and in the gardens. It works!
I have made "He lives here, too" into a mantra. It helps a lot to remember that.
I do the same, I just shut the door to my husband’s office! It’s his domain so he has it as messy as he likes, I don’t comment and he cleans it himself!
I painted my stairs black. BIG, huge mistake. I had to dust them daily. You have a white cat. Good luck with that. 🤓
I’m so excited for the treehouse 2.0 and I LOVE that you’ll be talking about collaborating with a partner (something I struggle with myself !) so I’m excited to see your take in that
I think it would be a challenge to go from one pink, pompom loving person to make the change to accommodate another person's likes when they are not pom pom/pink lovers . It might be interesting to see the collab on styles between you two. Also a learning curve.
The stained glass IS gorgeous - you are right, Noah!
you are so lovely together and that apartment is gorgeous , really want to see what you will do as you have great decor ideas.
the house has great character. that architecture deserves something special I am with Noah here enough with the girly stuff haha
It's actually very smart to reno the kitchen in the fall, after you used it and lived in the space for some time - you will know what you want and need based not only on your ultimate likes but on the experiences from using this specific space :) Hope it all will turn out well.
What a gorgeous space! And I am assuming the entry is for your apartment only. Please do not store the vacuum in the pantry/storage closet. Evertyime you want something, you’ll need to move it. Put the vacuum in the utility closet.
"oh but you wanna really fight!" 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks James!
I’m wondering if this tree house 2.0 will come with raccoons 2.0!
It doesn’t thank goodness!!!
It doesn’t YET
Beautiful space!
Collaboration starts with changing your language. Nice to hear you starting to refer to it as “our” apartment. 💚
Congratulations to you two! I love the Victorian flair. How nice that you will be able to work with your landlord, and what a bonus that he is an architect! Looking forward to your great ideas!
I honestly gasped when I saw the stained glass, and then again when I saw the bathroom! Also - you can have SO MANY PLANTS!!
Your stained glass window is so beautiful. The whole place is lovely - can’t wait to see how you transform it.
I absolutely love your enthusiasm and energy. You remind me of my daughter when she gets excited. I'm 60 so I have unofficially adopted you.
Lottie is going to love the bench in the kitchen!
Just a bit of unsolicited advice, but from experience, all black stairs ESPECIALLY flat is a bad idea. It will show and hold dirt like nobody's business. I learned the super hard way. And we were take shoes off people. We ended up finding a real neat carpet/runner material that was thin that was also narrow and we ran up the middle of the stairs that gave a pop of interest as well and cut down on the dirt. Still had to clean them a lot, but it was way better. Just a thought.
Also, so grateful that my husband could are less how I decide to decorate the home, but we also have similar taste anyway, and I'm also not very "girly" in my decor, what is more feminine in my decor is presented in our bedroom, but even then it's more antique Victorian meets old farmhouse with a pinch of boho, and we both love antique items, and eclecticism. I dont know what I would do if he did not like my style. Lol
I thought the same thing.
What a gorgeous place. You kept talking about replacing/changing things that are ALREADY beautiful, though. 😂 Regardless, can’t wait to see!
I think you'll be needing Ross to help PIVOT furniture up the unit.
Pivot....piiiiiiiiVotttt...PIVOOOOOOT LOL
I don't think it's gonna pivot anymore...
Treehouse and victorian are your thing 🤗 love it!! Excited for the upcoming makeovers.
So much potential! Plus, your boyfriend is adorable, and you can tell he adores you. Definitely a keeper.
Do a Murphy bed for the office/guest room
Or at least a pull out sofa bed
Working on renovating our house for the past 13 years. The best design comes from my crazy ideas and my husband bringing me back to hearth. I still make most of the design decisions and he executes 😂. Arguing on this topic is part of the process and compromise. Love the new apartment, I can’t wait to see the changes. Hugs from Brussels, Belgium!!!
That living room window is everything!!!!
You & Noah are so cute together!! Love the apartment!! So roomy & nice!! Beautiful features!! 💓
I'm 59 and you've been inspiring to me
I agree! I’m 64 and love watching her transform places. Sometimes I think something just isn’t going to work, but when she’s done t looks so good!
I agree 58!
I feel the same! I am 51 lol
The place is stunning!!! Looking forward to seeing the transformation! Will there be a dedicated playlist, please 😃?
Here we are, her UA-cam moms. I’m 59 too and love her makeovers.
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 67 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 🖤🖤🖤
My partner totally makes big design decisions without me all the time and then I veto it and he has to figure out how to get it back to the store lol. It can definitely be a challenge decorating a home together when both people have opinions!
Congrats Alexandra! I'm in love with the apartment and its vintage Victorian charm. Its beautiful.
Love it! Curious to know your first steps with working with a landlord on painting/lighting/and even the more in depth renovations you've done
It really IS the treehouse 2.0! 😄🌸✨
I like the vibe of the old already. Looking forward to more videos. My favourite parts so far are the windows and the balcony.
You have no idea what perfect timing this series is! My husband and I are moving to a duplex apartment and the entry way and stairs leading to our bedrooms on the 3rd floor have been tripping me up. I am so excited to see everything that you do and get some inspo!
A great opportunity for videos of you and your staff working right along with the landlord's contractors to show us exactly to diy all kinds of challenging reno ideas.
Renovations are tough on even very good relationships, even if you have the same style. When my husband and I renovated the house we bought, I told him, "When we're done with this, I'm filing for divorce!" I sent thank you notes you my two brothers-in-law for hanging all our wallpaper, but added that their real contribution was saving our marriage, because if my husband and I had had to do it, we would have been ex-in-laws. When the renos were done, the relationship was still intact and we love our home. Hang in there! I'm really looking forward to the evolution of Treehouse 2.0.
I am so happy for you, you've been a blessing to me as well as an inspiration to me. At times i feel like giving up. Right now I'm just waiting for the financial part to come through. Thank you
Never give up La Vern - you are awesome.
When i see her dreams coming true I feel like someday, mine will too.
The first home my husband and I moved into I hated from the start. He wouldn’t let me design anything...change anything...nothing...other than bedding or storage. He saw how unhappy that made me so when we moved into our new home he said I could do whatever I wanted. I still keep him in mind when I change things, but it’s nice to have that freedom and not be unhappy in my own space anymore.
Wow lottie is going to have so much room to run and play!!!!
Wait. You've never had a microwave!? mind blown. How do you reheat your food?? ❤️
I've never had a microwave either (and I don't intend to buy one in the future), if it's liquid food (soup, stew), I reheat it on the stove, if it's solid food, I put it in the oven for 5 minutes.
In a pan
Microwave is bad for your health guys! Don't use it..
At one point we had 2 microwaves growing up. The old one and the new one. 🤣
I don’t have a microwave either and I don’t miss it at all. I reheat my food either in the oven or a pan. The microwave makes everything soggy
Congrats ! The apartment looks great ! Like the way Noah is just chilling out and appearing here and there during the video. Wish you a lot of fun planning and decorating !
Oh that is such a lovely space, and the beautiful mouldings and antique fireplace, stair rails, plus convenient storage and updated things where needed, I'm jealous. And an outdoor room, with trees, perfect. It's going to be fun seeing how you make it your own home, for both of you. 😊
The kitchen and bathroom are the polar opposites from your last ones.. in a good way! Can't imagine the feeling!
So very happy for you, Alexandra! You are dear to so many of us.
U two are already arguing like a married couple❤️😂 over a shower curtain 😂
I absolutely love your new space. I've seen you and your boyfriend together in the last 2 videos. You guys make a great couple.
I think Dani should make something for the office/guest room.
I live with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now. At first I moved to his place so it was more his stuff but now we are moving to a new place together. So I need the tips asap, perfect timing
I can hardly wait for you to do your magic! It’s going to be beautiful!
What a great space, with tons of character! You will have a blast decorating it and making it your own ... but reconsider the pom pom shower curtain, for Noah's sake- ha.
Such a beautiful space, and I'm excited to see how your style evolves now that you're living with a partner!
I'm lucky to have a husband who generally loves anything I buy, but searching for things that I know we'll both love is so rewarding ❤️
Exciting times! Nothing gets the wheels spinning faster than the blank canvas stage of a new place
Awesome new digs....love how you get to look down on the roof next door from the balcony ...very Mary Poppins.....and it even comes with a random pole ...hang plants off it by day, dance around it by night!!!!! Noice!
Feels like a house 😍 can't wait to see what you create in this beautiful new home ❤️
They are such a cute couple! I love their chemistry! Can't wait for the new series.
my husband (5.5 years) isn’t picky at all, we’ve lived in 5 homes so far (just realized that and I’m mind blown) and he’s always commented on how beautiful our spaces turn out.
Congratulations 🍾🎉🎊 Alexandra and Noah! I love your new place together! Best wishes! Looking forward to see all the upgrades and beauty you will bring!
Wishing you both loads of happiness and laughter in your new home. And some awesome renos too😁
Noah is definitely camera ready! He’s adorable 😊
Very nice apartment! Good for you…guys. Congrats. It will be fun watching the “making it home” content.
It’s so lovely!! Love the living room!! Happy for you and Noah with his bionic ears! Hysterical! 🚿👀😅
Looks great. Love the stained glass windows! Anxious to see the shower curtain. Hope Noah likes your choice.
What a great place! LOVE IT! Cannot wait to see what you do with it...and especially that odd, skinny pole at the bottom of the stairs. LOL! Good luck!
I enjoyed the tour of your new place I hope you have a wonderful time redoing it.Alexandra I have a suggestion for you when it comes to decorating with your partner pick two things you like of an item like a chair and ask him which one he likes or color and you still get one you like as well.Do this for major purchases like furniture, appliances but but not so much with decor like throw pillows and towels most guys don't notice those things.
Cute apartment but what is even more cute, is how much in love you are🥰
I 100% value my partner’s opinion, but I am always so grateful that he has zero preference when it comes to design choices lol.
I'm very excited to see what you and Noah "collab" together. I am glad the shower curtain isn't pink, lol. He will be happier.
Aww the Turkish rug in the bathroom will be great! I have a small vintage red one in my galley kitchen that has dark cabinets and white counter tops.
I can’t wait to watch all the videos. I’m so happy for you. ❤️
Love the apartment please incorporate what Noah wants as well. I think Noah should design his own office.
I just got to the part where you said you're not collaborative by nature, yet you have design clients and make them happy all the time! So...Alexandra + Noah = One Client 😃
Gah! I can barely contain my excitement. The new place is absolutely stunning and will be beyond incredible once you start doing your updates. Sooooo so soooo excited to see how this all comes together!
Yes my husband also has opinions about decor. It can get challenging but with patience it sometimes works out better :)
Your entrance looks like it could be Lone Fox's entrance. LOL!!
Looks like a great space! I know I'm a true minimalist because I love seeing empty apartments/houses. Haha! I know you must be excited to have this new home with your partner. Also, I know everyone is different (and it is your JOB to design), but I love having my husband's input on what goes in our home. After all, we both live there, and it should be a reflection of us both.
me looking at the narrow deadly stairs... "yeah this is so victorian era"
It’s a great apartment, I cannot wait to see it when you’ve moved in!
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful space! Living together is a TOTALLY new experience and i wish you two all the best! God bless!!!
Cannot wait to see the shower curtain!!!
What a beautiful place! Can’t wait for all of the videos!
I agree the living room si magnificent , parisian Style 😍
Your channel will have some great new material that many viewers will relate to regarding collaboration and cohabitation with others. I was in my mid 30s before I was in a home with my significant other and we had a decade of two households to combine. Decisions about design were discussed and agreed upon. I just watched my oldest daughter and her boyfriend go through this. My daughter was not collaborative by nature but she learned to be that way quickly!
LOVE seeing the "before" -- can't wait for the "afters"! Congratulations!! xoxo
That is STUNNING! And very similar to my place with the mouldings, which I also love!! Mine is also Victorian (1888 I believe). I can’t wait to see your Reno’s as your series of the past inspired me to do lots to my place-little tips that made a huge difference!! And the fireplace! I have one too-none functional but white washed and perfect for decor. Glad to see Noah feels comfortable to be himself and say what he likes/doesn’t like. That’s important and it’s great to see this being discussed! Can’t wait to see the projects and what Miss Lottie thinks of everything! :)
So excited for you two!
Yay! It’s gonna look awesome!
Great looking place! I enjoy seeing Noah with you, so affectionate! With that tree overhanging the deck you might want to consider raccoon deterrents!
Wow congratulations such a love place love the apartment the architecture of the house is awesome, the patio windows, bathroom, detailed walls, fireplace... I love everything about your new place
💕💕💕 it!!! How exciting 💕💕💕
I can’t wait to see what you do!
Love your new place! Can’t wait to see what you two do to make it your new home.
I love your new place, I am excited to see your reno's!! My favorite is the stain glass window in your living room.
Omg so excited for you both !!!!!
Such exciting news!!
