    I'll tell ya right now, the first thing when you got the new MAD magazine was go to the back page, and make the two folds in the picture with the satirical commentary. After that, I went straight to Spy vs Spy.
    There is something hypnotic about you demonstrating fabrication techniques for your DIY equipment. It's like Video Valium, and I mean that in a good way. Dang Mr. Shug, you're a one man Dopamine agonist. Thanks for the mellow.

      I've got the one that has Anthony Perkins in the comments section. He had mailed them; expressing his feelings on their spoof of Psycho. He included a picture of himself, stabbing the end of a kitchen knife through Alfred's head on the magazine.

    I made my wind screens from aluminum foil starting with my old Bluet S200 back in 1970. Recently I’ve made wind screens for my Fancy Feast stove cook kits from a Fosters beer can.

    Hi Shug. I find joining three tall beer cans works well. A double fold gives a permanent joint. And the nice thing is an alcohol windshield for an alcohol stove. 😉😉

    Thanks for another superb camping how-to video. In the past, I have made quite a few windscreens for Fancee Feest-style alcohol stoves by repurposing inexpensive 4” diameter metal duct coupler, about $4 from Lowe’s or a similar home store. I just drill out the rivets that hold it together at the seam and then Dremel down any sharp/rough edges or cover them with metal foil tape (the lazy man’s option!). They’re extremely durable, but one weighs under 35 grams (1.24 oz) and fits with room to spare in an IMUSA 12cm cup (or it can slide between a GSI-style nesting cup and the bottom of one of the popular Stanley Adventure Cooksets). Best regards!

    Nice... could also get some of that foil adhesive tape for ducting, and tape your folds down tight... giving just that much more structure to the project. A feller should have a roll of that on hand anyhow... for when he's making cozies from Reflectix. Good stuff, Kemosabe!!

    • @shugemery
      @shugemery  4 роки тому +2

      I hope I didn’t sound tetchy or that my comment seemed trite.
      I grew up in the 70’s in the UK, so I was accustomed to both metric and imperial - we learned metric in school but bought pounds, ounces and pints of food in the shops. But 20 years of travelling the world has narrowed me down to meters, millimeters and litres.
      I just wanted to say thank you for making the effort to give both measurements; it’s only the USA, Liberia and Myanmar that still use imperial (about 5% of the world’s population).
      Mind you, I see some European UA-camrs also giving the imperial measurements for our American cousins.
      So, thanks to ALL who make the effort, and go that extra mile/kilometer/furlong/rod to give help us all understand.

    remember that old toy "Sit & Spin", could you tie an RC to the seat of one of those that was staked into the ground and have the plane lift off a ramp?

    Why is it that the alcohol stove has a windscreen but your cars have a windshield?
    From a simple English man trying to understand...
    thanks for the years of great content and laughs.

      You still want a little bit of air passing through for the fire

    • @jcast25

      My understanding is a windscreen is semi-permeable and a windshield blocks all air movement.

      Could be a windblock. Or a wind-diffuser.......hmmmmm

    this might be random.. but this guy always makes me feel happy when i feel down. like lately, ive been questioning what i want out of life and if im doing enough. i make 60k a year. totaly good salary and im comfy. now im sure all of you have seen them as well popping up everywhere on youtube but ive been getting sucked into those rich guys posting videos on "how to become rich and never be poor again". and my 60k a year i make is what those people in those videos consider poor and broke and a shit life like youre a failure. and ive been letting it get to my head and mess with me. BUT then i turn on one of shugs videos and see the simple happy joyful life he has not being filthy rich and just out and about in his hammocks and goofing around with his amazing circus tricks. hes my huge reminder that YES, you need money to have some sort of living ofcourse, BUT you dont need to be rich to have a HAPPY living. just keep things simple and not materialistic. thank you shug 🙏🙌

    What do you think about making some stakes out of some thin 1/16" wire and staking the windscreen through those holes? I reckon three should be more than enough

    Hey shug love all your videos I've been doing a lot of research on diy alcohol stoves recently and was wondering if you have any experience with the Zen alcohol stove?

      I have tried about all alcohol stoves in my experimenting phase. Found the Fancee Feast and never looked back. Easy to DIY one. Search how here on You Tube.

    once again Zone 7 is on the radar! ... and that aluminum foil will sharpen those old scissors!

  • @MaggieValera
    @MaggieValera 3 роки тому

    Not only does the scissors and the whole punch go through the foil but they both get sharpened by going through the foil. So if you ever find that your scissors or your hole punch or getting dull, just make a windscreen. : )
