When I made a mixture of chalk and silicate glass, when heated, this mixture also created bubbles. And I solved this problem simply. When I have smeared the part I need and dried it on the battery so that the mixture becomes solid and does not choke with a nail, I take and tightly wrap the part in several layers of aluminum household foil, very tightly. On top of the foil, I also wind the wire tightly. As a result, during firing, the mixture of silicate glass and chalk almost does not bubble. It becomes microporous inside, but it does not burst and large bubbles do not form. In general, if you seal the silicate glass before heating, then when heated it will not expand much and burst.

You could have put a small screw or a set screw through the barrel to hold the tip in place!

Hi Tony, that's true but i was hoping the glue would result in better thermal contact. Probably a set screw pressing metal to metal would have been better even though it would push all contact to one side.
