  • GWR HSTs with Final HST Paddington to Exeter a Dawlish Beach Cams Tribute.
    Here's some of our favourite HST footage from the past 5 years of Dawlish Beach Cams.
    After 43 years of service, in this video you can see all the aspects and elements that Dawlish has thrown at them.

    Last of the big boy passenger trains, also last of the passenger trains you can open a window to peer out and absorb all those lovely diesel fumes. They will be greatly missed.

      First time I visited the UK I was pretty young and these were almost brand new. One of my clearest memories of that trip is watching these beasts roaring out of a station.

    Class 43s are honestly very trusted by rail staff and customers use the trains. I honestly like the class 43s is because they are comfortable however they are old and ageing their age. It honestly doesn’t matter about the age. Inside the carriages honestly are the class 43s is warm and comfortable to happen to rail staff and customers containing good central heating and carpets. Class 43s honestly were previously used by these rail operators are East Midlands Railway, Grand Central, Hull Trains and London North Eastern Railway. Perhaps class 43s may survive until around the deadline date is Thursday 31st December 2037 in 15 years time from Thursday 22nd September 2022. Now used with 3 train operators are CrossCountry, Great Western Railway and ScotRail part of British Rail. We’ll see how the class 43s go however no promises are likely to happen. Enjoy the train travelling on class 43s and don’t worry about it.

    • @tonys1636
      @tonys1636 5 років тому +2

      Like everything these days probably down to running costs and they are not that green. The new trains will be greener and more aerodynamic, using both overhead power and diesel on non-electrified sections.

    • @ericjamieson
      @ericjamieson 5 років тому +1

      The same reason you don't see too many 40 year old cars still running. Sure, you CAN keep them running, but everything wears out quicker, parts are harder to get, maintenance is more expensive, they're less efficient, and eventually it's more cost-effective to buy something new. Same with these. Hammering along at 125 mph takes a lot out of a train, and these have been doing it several times a day for decades. They're still good for lighter duty up in Scotland but for express trains on the GWML and ECML they really needed something newer.
