After a lot of work across all the games the other day I managed to get Platinum trophies Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. These were the last ones that I needed to get all of the trophies for every game in the Vol.1 release. Just wanted to let anyone following this guide know, if you use the clock cheese to kill The End, you do not get the Mosin Nagant. If you drown yourself in The Sorrows fight, even if you use the revival pill, you will not get his camo. Just a note for anyone who plans on using the Mosin against The Fury, Volgin, and The Boss, or who plan to use The Sorrows camo on NG+.
I had never played Snake Eater on anything higher than normal, but this guide got me to beat Extreme with relative ease. Sure, I had to retry a bunch of parts dozens of times, but Im done with my first poaythrough and now going for Foxhound rank in NG+. Great video!

Just completed the run i started earlier this month. Honestly soo much easier than the MGS2 Big Boss rank. I had so much fun getting this high rank run and it felt doable all the way through, lots of leniency. Great guide!

I'm just off the back of getting the Foxhound rank, but 100% excited to see how much I could have improve considering I used a guide from back in 2010 as a reference, so I'm super curious to see if the majority of safe/speedrun based tactics hold up, or if things have changed majorly.
Congrats on getting Foxhound! There won't be anything too surprising or groundbreaking to you in this guide if that is the case. I try to keep most of the stuff I show doable to the new/average player so I try and stay away from the crazy stuff speedrunners are doing nowadays.
Thanks dude, I spent less time getting Foxhound on this than getting down the Ray on Extreme MGS2 for Big Boss rank lmao, but MGS3 is a lot of fun to run though. The biggest difference off the bat was how you did the run on NG+ which I am enjoying cause the different tech you pull off with the Spider camo etc, already changes a few things in a really interesting way. So for those who were following NG guides up till this point like me, your video is a breath of fresh air cause it's throws in a good bit of variety to the run itself, with the NG+ camo strats, and the commentary. I gor the foxkound rank pretty easily, but i would appoint two things that seems very misunderstood -shagohod volgin boss fight: if you run into the shagohod he will eventually stop doing rockets and other ranged attacks, and will jnstead keep attacking you with the shagohod with minimum damage -The boss boss fight: i got crazy with this fight, becouse whilist the first 3 attacks are peetty easy to counter, form the 4th it will be nearly impossibile, the only way it eorled for me was running away from her when she was trying to cqc me and then press cqc button as soon as she was keeping me
You asked us to let you know how everything worked, one thanks very much, appreciate this video I did get the title of foxhound, never would of done it without this, o ly few problems I had was the box trick, 1:13:05 one guy didn't see me but another one did so had to reload, and on the boss fight, I did the stun G trick but when I shot her again she went straight down on the ground instead of letting me slam her to the ground again, other than that everything else 💪 thanks again.
I’ve never really tried for the big boss or foxhound rank in any of the games just because I’ve always played them for the story but I’m actually on my first ever run on extreme…definitely using the strats for the bosses…however I spent like 45 mins on the pain and he pulled a teleporting move that I had never seen before. Thanks for all the tips!
I'm not 100% sure if the time stops when you pause so I don't want to confirm/deny anything. I do remember people saying that the map screen in the menu does pause the timer for sure, but again, I cannot confirm this.

I have a question, you seem very hesitant on eating and even point out the rabbit before The End for non NG+ runs only. Is there a reason for this, are you not allowed to eat many meals?
There is supposedly a limit to eating on the hardest difficulties in order to achieve FOXHOUND rank (around 20-25 meals) but mostly I don't like to eat during runs simply because it wastes time.
Why you said you should pick the left gun , i searched everywhere and didnt find a usefull thing by choosing the left one instead if you choose the right one you will get the SAA in the new game+ 1:42:24
Does getting “caught” by guards in the outside of Graniny Gorky while dressed as a scientist affect your ranking? Had a caution so it was the only way to get through and it also turned out it was the attempt that got me to the next save after about 40 minutes of trying this section
quick question : if I save the game and I play for a 1 hour and after 1 hour I don't save the game and reload the save file one hour earlier. will that one hour be taken into account in the in game time ?

Ok so just to get this straight, you CAN get the FOXHOUND rank on a NG+ playthrough? Or does it absolutely need to be a regular NG Extreme/EuroExtreme run?
The Cardboard Box B skip into the truck did not work for me. I tried countless times basically mimicking you as best I can, but every time I tranq'd the guard it triggered a Caution, which changed up the pathing and did not allow you to just walk through. Was able to walk around and get to the truck where you just have to wait out the Caution if anyone else struggling here.
I just found another way to escape after jail. You just need 1 ration. You throw it just like in the video and go straight for the same path. The guy near the vent will be still so i prone and peek a little so that he goes around the creates and i run behind him with a roll. The second part is the same, and now, for the third. You run straight for the exit. Make sure not to catch the vision of the guards at the tanks. They can see you for a little bit but that's ok. Then you run straight to the same spot where the guy throws the smokes but instead of that if you were fast enough you can run to the end and then prone so that the last guy doesn't see you. I did all of this because I forgot you can loot smokes out of Johnny.

I've looked everywhere but don't see a food limit related to Foxhound rank, so why not just gather some good food throughout the game? edit: Omg, I literally noticed the 20 meal limit while I was waiting on the long ending credits. I apparently finished the game with exactly 20 meals finished, and BARELY got Foxhound haha thanks for the guide!
Are you able to use a save with the ez gun unlocked? I notice it auto equips in your inventory and dont know if that counts as a special item being used.
I have some questions. So I just finished an extreme play through, and I got all the bosses outfits along with the sneaking suit. At the end of the game and after the credits it asks me if I want to save. Do I save? And if I do does it count towards the limited 25 saves for the foxhound run? Thanks:)
Im not sure if The End actually drops his weapon if you do the time skip. I have reloaded about 10 times. He dies and I spawn in the part of the map where you first find him but to get to the weapon you have to go over a load screen and I think it is despawning his item. So I think the only option for new game is to take him out the harder way.
1:05:40 idk what im doing wrong but everytime i dive on the ground in the corner i get caught like a split second after that, it looks like im doing everything perfect but still get caught right after the dive on the ground.
Nevermind I got it, instead of diving I just run straight behind the box to the right and just lay down and crawl into the vent and that seems to work good everytime

@@PerfectStealth in theory, it's possible to just burn a lot of the time watching it after a save and reloading, and still make it vastly under time right? I mean I can't imagine why a legit run would go over 2 hours, then it's like 3 if you're on your phone watching the strat, all well under 5 right? I appreciate your reply and knowledge brother.
If you're on PS you can open another app like UA-cam to suspend metal gear, it'll take a couple more seconds to load into the game but it's better than nothing.
Hello I've been using this guide for my foxhound run and I'm on attemp 5 or 6 of this run, cause everytime I get to the sorrow there is always some dead soldier that I never killed. And it keeps happening in every run and idk what to do any suggestions
I’m worried about this now because one of the guards I blew up with a barrel landed in the water and drowned and I have a bad feeling that it’ll count as a kill
On the volgin fight, he still did ranged attacks on the second phase even when I was close to him. I put my trust in you that you knew what you were talking about. That ended up costing me the fight.

You can eat as many meals as you like. Somebody just posted his/her final stats with 360 meals eaten and still got the foxhound rank.

Someone's probably already said it but, when you fight The Fear. You can use the ak instead of the patriot. If you're not playing on ng+

Not 100% on this. I think you should be okay if you don't fire it/actually full on equip it into Snake's hands ever during the playthrough.

Hello I've been using this guide for my foxhound run and I'm on attemp 5 or 6 of this run, cause everytime I get to the sorrow there is always some dead soldier that I never killed. And it keeps happening in every run and idk what to do any suggestions
Have the same Problem. It always says on my Score Screen i killed 2 People but i didnt. Seems there is a bug going on.
I’m worried about this now because one of the guards I blew up with a barrel landed in the water and drowned and I have a bad feeling that it’ll count as a kill
It turns out that there is always a dead guard that rises from the ground when you go to drown yourself. So if it’s only that one, you’re safe
On the volgin fight, he still did ranged attacks on the second phase even when I was close to him. I put my trust in you that you knew what you were talking about. That ended up costing me the fight.

You have to play it on extreme difficulty, where you don't get the EZ gun

@i_A1R u cant unfortunately, but just follow a guide and it should be fine. The only parts that took me hours was The End and The Boss
