I love it! I test-drove the EX40 now I want to try the EX30. Volvo is driving me.... crazy! I used to be a bus driver in Lisbon's CCFL-Carris with the famous B59 from 1975. I also drove the B7R, B10M, and B7L from 2005, 1997, and 1999 respectively. Volvo is in my life. Hundreds of thousands of kilometers. It was the tool that put food on my table, paid for my car, and paid partially for my home.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand how putting all your buttons into a tablet is both a practical or safe decision. Feels like a deal breaker for me but I'm trying to keep an open mind.
They say it takes less time since it is at the same level as your view of the road, i would be surprised if it wasn't safe since the small details on this car seem so well thought out.
In my country we use hazard light as “thank you” signal on the road. So we use it couple of times per day, and I press “hazard” button don’t even looking at it. And here is hazard light switch not physical, but on the screen, and I must look to locate screen button… Well, almost definitely deal breaker for me… :(

@@rkhrd3211 Oh, I see. I've seen photos from EX90 and I assumed this is similar thing what Volvo has in bigger brother. I guess that's even worse then.
Volvo you pride yourself on safety.. Wouldn't it have been safer for the driver to have a heads-up-display in his line of sight rather than looking at the center console while driving? Also while driving if the drive needs to raise or lower his window, then there are no buttons on the door now. Is it really safe and necessary to operate the windows from the touch screen that too while driving ? The more i think about it, the more i'm getting annoyed with all these cost-cutting measures. Is it asking too much to atleast provide a HUD (or an option to select it as an add-on) please ?
Tesla has proven that you can have the safest car without a heads-up display. Volvo is taking notes from what Tesla is doing well. One could argue that having such information always in front of you is actually less safe, as it is in your way when you don't need it.
Ok i stand corrected for the existence of window buttons on the central armrest.. Thanks @Maisemore But regarding the HUD, is it really too much to ask for such a feature in a car scheduled for delivery in 2024 ? Also if one is really bothered by it then it can be kept as an additional option ... but to totally remove any form of driver display and to have everything crammed on only one central screen is just so dumb from Volvo. What is the point in trying to ape Tesla in what they are doing...rather than staying true to your own core philosophy of safety and "design around you" ? Then I'd rather go ahead and opt for Tesla.. what is the usp for buying a volvo then ? Really hoping for that they fix this in the cross-country version!
I have to say, this is the most exciting car this year, marvelous job Volvo! @VolvoCars thanks for the prompt answer. I'm happy to hear that Volvo has addressed one of my most loved features of Tesla. My good old xc90 will soon have a younger Volvo EX30 brother :)
This looks great but i would have loved a pull down arm rest in the back row center seat and an option for solar panel roof. It comes just short of perfect for me.
Lovely looking car. But the central screen only approach, along with the haptic controls is an absolute no go. My 2022 XC60 is already behind the old XC90, where I didn’t have to stab at a screen to change drive modes.
Very innovative and brave. I think I kinda love it. It might be too small for my family tho. This video is a bit deceptive, it seems like there is quite a lot of space in the back, but they clearly move the front sits as far as possible. I saw some tests and a tall adult can barely fit behind a tall driver. I also don’t see vents in the back, I am not sure if my daughter will accept that, especially since summers are getting hotter and hotter. Still an interesting option. I hope we will also get EX40 for people who needs a bit more space.
My husband and I I own an XC40 and an S60, we got in the back seat of this one at the preview here in my country and it is GENUINELY roomy in the back, almost the same space in the back as the S60 with a ton more headroom. The boot is quite small though, well thought out but small anyway. This will replace our XC40
Got my EX30 today, from my point of view its one of few reasonable cars an very well designed. I could understand the issues with the missing speedo up front, but delivering a BEV with this list price today sure was a process of compromisses. I think its a well thought through car that takes the market one great step more towards sustainable individual mobility and provide it for a broader range of people. So i think: Good job Volvo!
It looks like a well thought out project but curious about the price... Recyclable materials, less wires for the sound system and so on to save money but how much of these const reductions are going to be transferred to the consumer?
Quite a lot apparently. Initial signs are about £2,500-3,000 less than a Kia eNiro, which I have at the moment, but I like the look of this for a replacement!
Very interested in this car. Great looks and the size would work for me. I think I’d need to get used to the instrument design…..maybe! But a great piece of product design.
Une jolie tablette mais je préfère mon Ipad, je peux le mettre sur mes genoux dans mon canapé. Sinon sympa le porte gobelet et un coffre qui s'ouvre, c'est le progrès 🙂 Vous n'aimez plus les voitures ?
I can't wait for this to come out. I been keeping at eye on Volvo and like this new vehicle they came out with. I like the touchscreen because it does away with the old style of a cluster digital or not and brings the center touchscreen into the 21st Century. I just have one question, will this have a roof rack option? I go on road trips and i also do some house work so i need a vehicle than is functional as well as greatly designed. I plan to really get this by March
Love the interior and the back. But the front in my opinion doesn’t really fit to the rest: a bit aggressive and on the slim side. Otherwise I really appreciate the deep thoughts towards a more sustainable car manufacturing.
Nice looking car but the rear passenger space/legroom is too cramped when the driver seat is in a more normal position (and not pushed forward like in this video). This has been the deal breaker for many interested buyers who have seen this car in person. This car isn't really that small and other EVs of similar length have much better rear passenger space. Improve that and you will have many more interested buyers.
This is gorgeous, but I was very surprised to see a company so renowned in safety would put climate controls in a on screen menu instead of physical buttons
Since Volvo EX30 has no driver information module, nor a head-up display, drivers will need to look at the centre display screen for key information such as speed. -Irene
It's a similar design to the satellite radio I had clipped to the air vent in my 2004 Accord. Over ten years of ownership it never looked like part of the car - I suspect the two tablets in the EX30 will always look hot-glued on or like the design team ran out of time and shipped the prototype because they didn't get to designing the dashboard.
Most of it looks great, but I just cannot get behind not having an instrument/gps panel behind the steering wheel and not having physical/easily accessible buttons/knobs for functions I need to access while driving. The infotainment system just takes my eyes off the road much more than I am comfortable with.
Hi there, thank you for sharing your feedback. Have you had the chance to take the Volvo EX30 for a test drive to experience it for yourself? We think you'll love it! /Niamh
Why not ac vents for the rear passengers, are you guys moving backwards? 😩 Surely the window switches could move to the traditional position we're accustomed to. Surely the wiring wouldn't make a significant impact considering the convenience and comfort. Those are the key points you shouldn't have revised
Hi there, the air conditioning vents for the rear of the vehicle are located under the two front seats. Adding the window switches centrally instead of on the doors, saves wiring - yes, it is a relatively small amount, but when you extrapolate that to many tens of thousands of cars per year, it makes a bigger difference than you might expect. And if we apply this thinking across the board, small gains can add up to something much bigger. /Anthony
I was considering this car ... until I went on Volvo website to configure it. Basically, I felt I was choosing a 'premium' car from an 'ordinary' configurator of a way less 'premium' car manufacturer. Three choices: Core, Plus, Ultra ... and then the engine choice. Core trim has 2 engine options, Plus 3 options, and Ultra 2 options. You choose the color (only 5 options .. and not even my favorite ones) ... and basically the configuration is over. What if I don't want the panoramic roof but I want the 360° camera or the Park Pilot Assist? No way to choose! If I want the Park Pilot Assist I must choose the Utra trim with its panoramic roof I don't want!! Why??? What if I want the Plus trim but would like the electric seat adjustment? No bloody way to choose! What is the difference between a premium manufacturer and an ordinary manufacturer? One of the differences is CHOICE! You can customize your car the way you want it. And here it looks as if I were on Dacia (sorry Dacia!) configurator. Moreover, it doesn't have the LED Matrix headlights option. Come on! Let's talk about the "premium" soundbar. Do you really believe that a single front soundbar will offer you a great surrounding listening experience?? Are you joking? I might be wrong, but I don't think this EX30 has voice-activated controls, right? Last but not least (as underlined by other users) the lack of a front display behind the steering wheel where you can check speed and navigation (like in the Zeekr counterpart). Too bad because I really like the design and its compact dimensions, ideal for narrow roads and parking slots. Instead of offering an absurd 428 hp engine (frankly ... who cares about the 3,4 sec from 0 to 100 km/h !!) why not offering a true choice in the configuration process? Potential buyers of this car will unlikely be tempted to compete with Ferraris on the traffic lights ... but maybe they would appreciate a customisable car ... with - why not - true premium options like LED Matrix headlights or a head-up display. For me it's a NO. 👎
Your comment was from 3 weeks ago and I only see 1 thumbs up, mine.. I think you're right about a lot of things, the most about the acceleration and how it is used to tell everybody how special this EX30 is. Not a big deal for me, that's for sure. Don't know how much money was spent to design this, but it could have been better spent for a more user friendly interior. The soundbar is a joke, the lack of a display behind the steering wheel is an unforgivable wrong choice, just like that big tablet where everything has to happen. At least in my opinion. And don't get me wrong, a central display comes in very handy for a lot of things, but essential driving information is something I like exactly in front of me! And why no HUD for the least? I sometimes wonder if Volvo is trying to research how everybody reacts to their new appleish concept, and that the car on introduction will have more satisfying features that it has now. But reading this hausse of fan-comments I fear you and I won't be satisfied...
@@LeoWal01 You might be right 🙃 Volvo might monitor the reactions, and maybe do better in two or three years, when they'll present a slightly facelifted/updated version of it. I do hope so. Meanwhile, I do appreciate Volvo's decision to offer an entry-level model featuring an affordable quality that invites young and/or medium-income people to step inside its premium brand's world. People who - go figure - might later afford to buy a C40 or even a luxury EX90. An 'opportunity' once offered by BMW as well with its compact 3-series in the 90ies (a 320i E30 wasn't definitely cheap but not extremely expensive either). Now, the EX30 'counterpart' (entry-level full electric small SUV) @ BMW is the iX1 ... with a couple of options it starts around 70'000 EUR. Not exactly aimed at the younger generations or at the medium-income people out there. Clearly, BMW (but also other premium european brands) are more and more 'neglecting' their once faithful middle/upper-middle class customer base to rather embrace the upper class and beyond. I find it great that Volvo - as a premium brand - decides to open the doors to its premium world to a larger clientele with a truly affordable entry-level model. That deserves a thumb up! 👍
@@jamspad2088 To be honest, I do like them trying to be innovative and the exterior of the EX30 is pleasant to my eyes! But as mentioned, the interior makes me sad rather than happy. Maybe a test drive -somewhere next year- will change my mind. Drove the full electric XC40 in a test drive a few months back and was pleasantly surprised by how a full EV felt (only used the required brake pedal to put the car in the reverse gear, 'braking' while driving is done by lifting the accelerator, so that the kinetic energy recharges the battery and the speed decreases, as you might know). That XC40 also has a big acceleration that my V70 D3 doesn't have (but that I as a matter of fact, actually don't need). Summarizing: We'll keep an eye on the EX30 developments!
Exceptionnel mais je ne comprends pas pourquoi on me dit de ne pas consulter mon téléphone en conduisant et là, le tableau de bord est une tablette, ce qui demande un peu plus d'attention vu son emplacement latéral contrairement à un tableau de bord !
Anything that takes your eye away from driving is a big deal. This car is not my living room it. I agree navigating at the steering wheel & dash gage window is the most convenient & safe. Take a page from RAM’s navigation. Seriously. Volvo owner of 5 since 1978!
I believe they hired a shorter/smaller person to do the presentation so that the car doesn't seem "too small" when she presenter is sitting/walking around the car. Other than that, I like a lot of the car even if it copies much of its homework from Tesla's Model Y
Ok so you remove the dynamic coloured internal lighting from the 2022 models XC60 but you then reintroduce it back into this model is a slap in the face for buyers who thought they were getting that feature. I like this car but I'm a bit pissed off that my 2022 model does not have dynamic internal coloured mood lighting. Just please be consistent with your features in future.
Are car manufacturers just bringing as many non car people to work on vehicle interiors? How do they keep repeating the same mistake of removing a gauge cluster when majority don’t want that. This interior looks good but is not designed around the driver which should always be the PRIORITY.
Removing all the door buttons and accessories and moving them to the instrumentation in the tablet for storage space is not only useless since storage space is rarely used in the back, but it’s also a lazy design. It’s a no from me
The idea that people call this a "small car" drives me nuts. This is a NORMAL size. Stop buying giant, wasteful SUVs!!! LOL First Volvo that interests me since my C30. Not a fan of the interior material designs, but there are some other options.
It's volvo that's calling it small. They're just hypocrites when they say they're sustainable and using recycled materials and at the same time exploiting unnecessarily high natural resources to make an SUV that serves no purpose beyond boosting the buyer's ego
@@Maisemore "Theses days" vs what the car actually is... which looks to be 4 comfortable seats with a good trunk. And lifted for no good reason, just adding weight. This ain't a Mini Cooper. LOL. My point is still that this isn't small, the insane SUVs being sold everywhere is just insane.
I can’t like this comment enough. WHY do people insist on being fooled that they need massive SUVs when we all survived just fine before they became the fashion. So dangerous to pedestrians, cyclists and everyone in normal sized cars. It’s a shame this is a crossover, but I am liking the size.

Une jolie tablette mais je préfère mon Ipad, je peux le mettre sur mes genoux dans mon canapé. Sinon sympa le porte gobelet et un coffre qui s'ouvre, c'est le progrès 🙂 Vous n'aimez plus les voitures ?
Why is the iPad in dashboard ? ..Forgotten by the driver?
I can't wait for this to come out. I been keeping at eye on Volvo and like this new vehicle they came out with. I like the touchscreen because it does away with the old style of a cluster digital or not and brings the center touchscreen into the 21st Century. I just have one question, will this have a roof rack option? I go on road trips and i also do some house work so i need a vehicle than is functional as well as greatly designed. I plan to really get this by March
Thanks for your support! A roof rack can be added as an accessory. /Millie
Love the interior and the back. But the front in my opinion doesn’t really fit to the rest: a bit aggressive and on the slim side. Otherwise I really appreciate the deep thoughts towards a more sustainable car manufacturing.
LFP and affordable pricing please .
What a beauty 😍
Do it have spare tire?
The sounds bar is intuitive use of the technology.
สวยมาก ชอบมาก มาขายในประเทศไทยนะ🎉
Hello there, the Volvo EM90 will be available to pre-order in mainland China first. Other markets are being looked into - Anthony
This is gorgeous, but I was very surprised to see a company so renowned in safety would put climate controls in a on screen menu instead of physical buttons
You can adjust it with your voice and Google. It works flawlessly.
We are looking forward to the launch in India.
I would like you to consider ventilated seats in the Volvo's entry-level lineup. It's hard to drive without ventilated seats in Korea's hot summer.
Does it have a head-up display?
Since Volvo EX30 has no driver information module, nor a head-up display, drivers will need to look at the centre display screen for key information such as speed. -Irene
Bring back the knobs!
I'm a bit confused, are you saying that the car doesn't have a HUD for the driver? That seems hard to believe!
이건 미쳤다 너무 이쁘다 진짜. 다만 가격을 현명하게해서 출시해주시길...!!
Where are the other wheels I've seen featured in thumbnails, like a double spoke 5 star design? Those wheels look so much better.
The power window and lock switches belong on the doors. Putting them in the center stack is a major ergonomic mistake.
Where is the speedometer though?
The EX30 has key driving information displayed prominently at the top of the tall centre display screen. /Millie
Varför är filmen textad till Ryska? Är det en marknad i dagens läge?
Ryska pratas i mer än bara Ryssland :)
nice car and the size is finally small enough to be a BUY for me. But i miss buttons for the most important functions. Volume, Heat, Fan
Please don’t put massive screen if it isn’t 120Hz. It is so hard to use with 30 FPS.
CarPlay will be super good
Most of it looks great, but I just cannot get behind not having an instrument/gps panel behind the steering wheel and not having physical/easily accessible buttons/knobs for functions I need to access while driving. The infotainment system just takes my eyes off the road much more than I am comfortable with.
Hi there, thank you for sharing your feedback. Have you had the chance to take the Volvo EX30 for a test drive to experience it for yourself? We think you'll love it! /Niamh
Does the design of inside door handles make the driver and passengers safe when there s a accident? May they cause some extra injuries?
my dream car
May your dreams of owning a Volvo EX30 come true! - Anthony
As good as the new EX30 really is, could you Volvo please give us via software update full screen Android Auto on the Sensus infotainment? Thanks
Love it!
Glad you love it, can you see yourself behind the wheel? /Liz
Very few physical controls - that's a show stopper for me.
I love the EX30 but rear air vents is dumb, as is not having a screen or HUD in front of the driver.
Physical Buttons are still better IMO
Why not ac vents for the rear passengers, are you guys moving backwards? 😩
Surely the window switches could move to the traditional position we're accustomed to.
/Anthony
@@VolvoCars then next time you must consider three wheels instead of 4. The difference will be even greater if you get my point 😩
Model gini tapi comparison, nidar pengin
This is awesome and I want one, but being sourced from China and not eligible for the tax credit in the US is killing it for me
I was considering this car ... until I went on Volvo website to configure it.
Love it. So many people struggling to adapt to the future. I’m glad to see the back of endless dials and knobs.
Very nice
Anything that takes your eye away from driving is a big deal. This car is not my living room it. I agree navigating at the steering wheel & dash gage window is the most convenient & safe. Take a page from RAM’s navigation. Seriously. Volvo owner of 5 since 1978!
I believe they hired a shorter/smaller person to do the presentation so that the car doesn't seem "too small" when she presenter is sitting/walking around the car.
Other than that, I like a lot of the car even if it copies much of its homework from Tesla's Model Y
Does it open my garage door for me?
Hi there, the Volvo EX30 is not equipped with Homelink currently. /Anthony
love it but too expensive in Chile
Also in France
The only thing missing is rear seat cup holders.
No sunroof shade is horrible.
You realize it’s heavily dimmed, right?
highly skeptical of the sound quality using a soundbar...
Are car manufacturers just bringing as many non car people to work on vehicle interiors? How do they keep repeating the same mistake of removing a gauge cluster when majority don’t want that. This interior looks good but is not designed around the driver which should always be the PRIORITY.
“You going away weekends, you rent a Mazda or Honda so you can actually go where you want to go and not to be stressed up on charging 😊
Revert the air conditioner physical buttons
@@awareofvacuity4238 This is a good size, but yeah, their other products, along with the whole industry, are putting out grossly huge vehicles.
4233mm long is pretty small these days
