Great duo between Romanovsky and Florez. Florez has those unmistakable resounding Rossini Hugh Notes that made him an instant Superstar! Love Romanocsky as well! What a tremendous voice! Bravi a tutti e due! Rossini was so wrong (speaking of his own music) that IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA was the only true worthy operaa of note he ever wrote. I adore every one of his 36 operas whether COMIC works or DRAMATIC works.
This is the first time, that I am hearing this Romanovsky. I must say that I am impressed. It is also nice to see this Opera in its original Costume. Although, prior to this Opera of Rossini, I saw on You Tube, Romanovsky, singing in Rigoletto, and it was in plain clothing and Not Costume, as it was intention for the Great Master to be singing in it's Original Settings. However, that performance, we all know what will take place with Gilda waiting in his chambers. No need to Strip and show your butt off. Yeah, I could imagine, who got a kick out of that. Let's Keep Opera In It's Proper Form, the way its been done for Many Years. I refuse to go to the Opera's anymore because of this modern settings. I really hope that someone with Morals overtakes the MET, and get rid of Gelb. Really, if Rudolph Bing was in existence, I am sure he would have never permit this to go on. What happened to the subtitles that the Met invested in, so that the younger generation can understand what is being said in singing mode. Am I alone on this matter? If not, I wish someone who start a petition against the MET, for allowing some of the Opera's they are showing. T.Y.
This video is very good to compare two different vocal techniques ! Actually only one is a singing technique, the other one is a yelling technique. One is a full and rich with well balanced chiaroscuro sound. The other one is thin, small, compressed, nasal and boring noise.
Both men have impressive top notes and impressive florid facilities. However, singing next to Romanovsky's fuller tenor sound makes Florez's voice sound even more thin, nasal, and strident. Just my opinion.
they're two different types of rossini tenors, no? if you hear someone like ford or kunde, they had more heroic, more mature voices; whereas brownlee, florez and banks, for example, are more youthful and delicate. as a matter of fact, i have seen brownlee singing rinaldo in armida; unfortunately for me, he looked and sounded like a teenage boy. i'd have preferred a darker, beefier, more heroic voice like romanowsky.

Way-to-Go, Peter. Great observation. Often, great Artists are far-too generous and self-deprecating.
Beautifully matched voices!
Superb.
What an awesome pair and amazing singing!
here you can understand directly the poor voice of Florez and a real rich and powerful voice
Romanovsky 's voice is incredible.
Bravo!
Absolutely divine ! Both are fabulous !
Fantastic...
Florez is amazing, he sound so natural.
Roxana Lita Flórez is predestinate for Rossini Music, He is unique again, Great bravo 🎵🎵🎵

Next to Sergey, we can hear Florez’s telltail nasal sound.
It's a shame to have such beautiful costumes and have them fit so terribly. They look like they were pinned in place.

Knorrig?
