The words of ‘Als Luise’ [26 May 1787, K. 520, quickly composed during the ‘white-heat’ of Mozart’s composition of D: Giovanni Act 1, and just after hearing of his father’s death in Salzburg) in English means (roughly) : ‘These letters, each born of some wild fantasy, and brought into this vile world during an hour of rapturous delusion- Die, you spawn of black darkness-born of flames yourself, return to them then ! Along with all those silly & empty heights of rapture with them-for I know now that he sang them to many others besides to me alone !! -But even tho’ I sit here watching these worthless papers which had been sent to me from him burn-down to ashes in my fireplace without leaving a trace of their miserable existence - yet, yet ! I would that the flames which have just now consigned them to oblivion may somehow still burn brightly in the heart of that man who penn’d them !!!’ This was a beautiful & dramatically- produced short video of a great song by the great Mozart who was effortlessly able to say so much with so little !!
This composition is created for a female voice, not even for a castrato, and is sung from the woman's point of view. So why should a man sing it? However, countertenors sing all sorts of things these days. The song is well staged, it turned out to be a small film. I would also like to note the pianist's skill separately. I wrote this as a musician. And as a gay man (I hope I'm not shocking anyone with this?) I would like to note that Nicolo is a handsome guy, and he looks great naked to the waist.
Thank you for your Kind words! 🙏 In my interpretation, I took on the role of a narrator who tells the story of Luise in the first person. The Lied is a form that allows for various interpretations precisely because it dwells in the intimacy of each of us. I chose to narrate this piece by expressing the most intimate emotions of another person through my own.
Nikolo, I wish that this plot will forever remain for you only an artistic image and that you will never encounter this situation in life. (True, nowadays they don’t even write paper letters, so in such cases there is nothing to burn).
Hello! I am a musicologist by conservatory education, but I have worked and still work a lot as an accompanist. I have worked in children's choreography, with a choir, with student conductors, and now I have been working with student vocalists for the second academic year. So, although I am not a pianist, I am still a little bit your colleague.

Thanks a lot from me, the forte-pianist, for your kind words about me!
