Just bought metal 18 inch single band wreath forms at Michael’s. 3 forms to intersect... Used 20% coupon and came to 10$ per obelisk. Been wanting to do this project for YEARS! Adding winter greens, berries, pine ones and magnolia all foraged... THANK YOU, LAURA for sharing these ideas! Merry CHRISTmas, all!🎄🌟
So glad to see an inexpensive DIY alternative. Every time I see new things or amazing pieces I always look to see how expensive it would be to recreate on a smaller scale. When your a gardening addict it can add up. Lol Hope to continue to see great DIY’s from you. Thanks 💚💚💚
Hi Laura I want thank you for all of your beautiful works of art that create and then teach us how to make. You are so talented and creative. I personally love the artistic side of gardening, and like to plant creatively in my garden, especially using colour and shapes.
I made 3 of these extra large obelisks following your directions and it is the 4th year still in tact! I just freshen up black paint and waterproofing spray prior to winter- so happy with how long they have lasted! Thank you-
Coffee with Laura and what a fun DIY project!! How great of you to figure this out and I can see doing the smallest hoops with my preschoolers and hanging them from the trees as well as putting them in our plant containers!!!
Great idea, thank you for sharing! ♥ You can use metal or plastic strips, too, and screw them together for a longer lasting version. Flexible copper coils would probably work well, too, I make trellises out of them for my yard.
They can also be hung up as Christmas ornaments. Paint them fun colors. The slam one she showed gave me the idea. Going to the store tomorrow and making a bunch of these in all different sizes. Thank you so much for the ideas. Love you Laura
😇🎄 Hi Laura, How CUTE, and I did see the bigger one that you made, and I think that by adding, some fairy lights { LED lights } would be really CUTE too. Thank YOU for sharing your creativity 🌿😊💜 LUV JOY 😊 💜🎄 🎅🎁 ❄
The little spheres look so cute ... I can definitely see these on a side table in different sizes to add to a display. If they are used for decor inside you wouldn't have to spray then with the urethane. Thanks Laura for another great idea!
Laura, I wanted to thank you for this video. I made some 23" for a couple of large planters and they turned out beautifully!!! I did a little something different since I wanted mine to be open at the bottom because I have shrubs in center of the planters. I figured out a way and I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you for the inspiration!!!
I just saw these being made out of metal strapping put together with machine screws and nuts. It was then spray painted with metal spray, just beautiful like the ones you have. Just thought I'd share that.
Yes! love this video, so many ideas, so many different colors! I love purple and that would be so cute in my pots, Thank you Laura for all the great ideas and different sizes. See you in the next video!
I found the sphere obelisk planter at Hillview Engineering LTD., they are made extremely well and allow you to place whatever type phenyl you prefer. They are around L55.00 and up depending on the size. Beautiful structures.
So glad you shared. Great idea to use hoops! I’ve been trying to DIY my own using the metal strapping used to secure ducts to ceilings in HVAC. Being metal, they’ll last longer but two things.. very flexible so shape easily distorts and the straps have holes. Maybe you can carry this idea further. Love your work.
That is a very good idea. Rose gold would also be pretty. This would make a cute hanging lamp Probably a lot of good ideas running thru those heads out there. Share them Tks.💝💝
I know I'm watching this 3 months later but last year I found metal obliques at my local hobby lobby store. I used them for my fall decorations. Hope that's helpful to some.
I saw your actual metal obelisk in your moms backyard in another video and ever since I’ve been trying to find one of these thank you for the tutorial!
I’ve been wanting a pair of those obeslisks for months and months now but also cannot find anything like them in any stores, definitely going to give these a try as soon as I get a chance
Great idea and inexpensive too ❤️ I’m definitely going to make these this summer. I think it would be awesome to do different colors for different seasons/holidays. Merry Christmas Laura, Aaron, Benjamin and Russell 😘
I love these!!! I went out today and bought the supplies to make them. Also wondering when to plant up the spring bulbs I have stored in the refrigerator? I am the same growing zone as you.
Oh super cute. I’ve been looking for them since I saw your other video. Guess I have to go to Michaels. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Can’t wait to see what you have coming in the new year.
To make this even more functional, you can plant perennial polycultures in it, so that you can enjoy it year after year. Even better, food! Strawberries would be great in there, with various herbs for accent. Maybe a centerpiece blueberry shrub. We try to teach science through gardening, and combined with your artistic skills, watchers could combine both our channels and make living breathing food art!
I love these, I'll try to make one someday! Laura I have a bit of a off topic question, I really liked the Mont bruno boxwoods that your parents had in their garden, how slow growing are they? How long did it take them to reach maturity? And why are they so hard to find, I've only found a few places online that sells them.
Hi there! Did you decide when you guys will be at the garden show in Charlotte, NC? A friend and I want to go and would be so cool to meet y’all! Merry Christmas!
Jeff, last week I called the Southern Spring Home & Garden Show and asked if they could tell me when Laura will be there. They said it had just been confirmed the day before. She will be there on Friday, March 1. She will do Q & A sessions on stage at 12:00 - 1:00 and 2:00 - 3:00. She will do Meet & Greets at 1:00 - 2:00 and 3:00 - 4:00. She will be at the Proven Winners booth number 2304. Hope this helps you out! I'm excited to go as well. We live on the opposite side of the country as she does so this will probably be the only opportunity I will ever have to actually meet her.
💚💜yesss!!! I was just asking we're you get them from a previous video with your 2yr Xmas videos! Everyone I watch a video another comes in as a reference!!
These are sweet! Stay healthy out there......we love your videos and especially about you and your mom going to the coffee shop on your bikes..... Aaron is a great dad......this is coming from a 75 year old great grandmother.......
Oooo, paint them orange for Halloween. Red with glitter for Christmas. Pastel for Spring...
So smart. They do make plastic embroidery hoops too. They would last longer outside.

I hung the spheres on my wrought iron tall planter/birdfeeder poles outside to spray paint and water seal- worked perfectly!

Wow, for small spaces like the one I have this size is perfect, beautiful and elegant. Thank you for the idea as always.
Creative idea. Now a lot of people can afford to have them in the garden👍
Roger's Gardens & Nursery in Newport Beach, California carries them. Also I've seen a number of these at wrought iron stores
You can also buy plastic embroidery hoops which might last longer than wood in wet conditions but probably not so much in the heat. Thanks 💚💚💚
I love this project. I am making my 18" spheres tomorrow. Two of them.
Don't know which size I like the most, they both turned out fantastic. I might do some sprayed Royal purple to match my lawn furniture.
I just saw these being made out of metal strapping put together with machine screws and nuts. It was then spray painted with metal spray, just beautiful like the ones you have. Just thought I'd share that.
Laura that little baby obelisk is adorable!!!!
Those tiny ones would make adorable Christmas ornaments!
Oh creativity! I can see these painted white and red with lights for Christmas decorations in window boxes❤️
Such a great project. The rose hips really makes this arrangement pop! Thanks!
I love this idea! Much more budget friendly. It would look SO NEAT with string lights! 🤩✨
I'd love to see you use these in the spring with live plants with them!

These would make great big Christmas baubles!
Loved both the large size and now this small one!! Awesome ideas!!
I made a ball with 2 wire baskets that you would hang from a shepherds hook. Very cute. Same idea.
So Clever and a brilliant idea. The decoration looked fabulous.
I absolutely adore floral crafts and this is beautiful ❤️
Love them! They are cute! Thanks for making this video in the freezing weather!
Absolutely love this. Thank you for sharing

At shopterrain.com they have a metal sphere that looks similar to this. But WAY more expensive and I don't think it looks as good.
Love this!
Found something similar on Hooks and Lattice website
Also saw on gardeners supply
