I think it’s a brilliant solution of the amphibian design requirement. Not optimized for either medium but likely able to handle more terrain variables than wheels and propellers. And would make a great toy super turtle 😅

They could have used wide wheels that are good for driving on sand as well as land. with propeller blades as spokes for underwater propulsion. Obviously they had a "solution" - soft robotics - looking for a problem, and solving it very poorly.

Put a rim around the propeller, rotate it to become a wheel. Seems simpler to me.

you can see that the sea turtle is struggling very badly on land. it's probably not a good model for your machine. this project is a waste of money.
