I had that same issue..but it was the water pump...thinking it was bearing on alternator...engine went...been parked for a while...still haven't made up my mind to change engine or replace.

That engine can fit your car... just get the transfer case and box and diff from a volvo t50 or old estate..uk has them in abundance
