That’s a little gem and it’s all there! I’ve wanted one for decades!
The little ones are not easy to find
Thanks for making this video ! It made me happy and brought back some great memories. My dad drove a divco for 40 years, and I did too for 2-3 years. When he was old, I had one restored and painted just like the one he drove in the 60's, and surprised him with it. The dairy he worked for is still in business , which is incredible. The dairy owns the truck now for parades, weddings, etc...
Thanks so much for the support by watching! I’m no editor I did my best! I left out a lot of footage and it still managed to be really long. Don’t worry everyone before we tried starting the truck we put oil back into the engine. I didn’t film everything and didn’t include everything it was 6 hours of footage to go through.😂 editing is not my thing. If the channel gets any bigger and popular I’d consider hiring someone to edit my videos.
I hope you enjoyed and liked and subscribed for me!
Great job! I worked at Detroit Divco truck sales back in the late 60s.
I learned to drive on a DIVCO standing up my legs didn't reach the pedals sitting down I was about 9 years old I still deliver milk today at 71 years old. GREAT VIDEO
Brings back memories. I restored a 1948 model 10. Twin Pines out of Detroit. Its on the web, wish I still had it. Congrats.
Love these old truck
I was driving one of those on my milk route
when JFK was shot
Watching you working on the Divco brought back a lot of memories, worked on a dairy farm that had milk routes and they used Divco milk trucks only difference was we got rid of the flat head engines and installed Ford 6 cylinder engines made a big difference in performance also instead of a column shift installed a floor shifter on the T98 transmissions. Great video thanks for the memories
That is so awesome. I haven't heard one of these Divco's since i was a kid. I remember these having a warbling sound & this one sure sounds like a warble TO ME LOL They used them as milk trucks primarily, but I remember these also being used as a Confectionary truck selling items like cotton Candy, Candy/caramel apples Ice Cream etc.
I very much appreciate seeing this video, it sure brought back some really good memories :) Thanks
God love YT for recomending some videos, this was fun.
When I brought my 1960 Grumman UPS truck home my wife said “ I f’n hate that thing.” You’ve got a good wife 🎉.
It going to make an awesome ice cream truck. I myself have a 1978 grumman that I use for an ice cream truck.
Grew up in metro Detroit had a Twin Pines milkman with a Divco, always amazed me how he drove it standing up, great memories
I had a friend who was an old time milk man. He had a small fleet of Divcos into the 1990s!! Delivered Johanna Farms milk and products. Home milk delivery was wonderful!!!
Thanks for a great video. You have got a great piece of history in great shape. Please please do not change anything on it. The patina is great and irreplaceable. Please don’t “restore” it. Think about what you have.
I watched these trucks when I lived in Thornton Co. in the mid-fifties. I think the dairy was called Frenches but not sure of it. I always wanted one to drive around when got old enough. I now enjoy two small models on my dresser at home. It is amazing how these little trucks have such a following. As a young man a couple of us guys towed a larger model to a selvage yard in Denver around 1965. I wonder what became of it.
Grease the whole thing up lol and put coating on the metal to protect it from rusting
60 years ago, I doves Divco's delivering milk to homes. Ours trucks were similar to yours with a 4 speed on the column and a knob at on end of the shift lever which acted as a throttle. The big pedal was both clutch and brake. Halfway down was clutch and all the way down was brake. There was also a lever to the left of the steering while for just braking. Interesting vehicle to drive.
can’t wait to see it fully restored!
GREAT VAN !
Thanks for sharing your content guy's love the van.
Nice milk truck 🚒👍😎
The Divco is dreamy but Ron is the BOMB!! He needs to be gold plated.... if you could duplicate him you could make millions.
Ryan, this is sooo awesome! I hope you're enjoying the DIVCO.
Thank you! I’ve been enjoying it.
What a nice car Will have it.
Mrs Richards: " I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) " That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Cute I wouldn't touch the ad I would use the paint as pantina leave it the way it is
Great video, IMHO I'm not sure the music loop in the background is needed!
Haha I know right! It was my first time editing something like this. I felt it was too boring without anything and with the app I used I couldn’t figure out how to put different music in and then for some reason the music got merged with my footage and I could remove it without editing it all over lol. My next video will be better!
I heard him say " hold of on the oil".
I sure hope he changed his mind before starting it. 😯
😂 he definitely added oil before we tried starting it I just unfortunately left out that bit 🤦🏼♂️ first time making a video like this I should have asked him if I left out anything important 😆
It’s good to see this truck running again. That stand up driving position is wild! Is that a Tupelo Doughnuts sign that I saw in the background around 5:40?
Yep I bought the Ih metro off them it’s int the process of being restored. It was running so I didn’t need to work on it much other than have the brake cylinders redone. I am looking to find someone to paint it. The first body shop got 99% the rust and dents out. I’ll make a video of that one too eventually
