Forest is one hell of a freakin actor. He's a REAL dude, and doesn't have to fake it to make it like 99 percent of the people in hollywood. This man is legit!
One of my favorite actor ..I luv to watch any movie he acts in....but Repo Man is my favorite...I had to watch it a couple times to understand how if F' up his buddy life for sheer fun or he was jealous of his life,
He doesnt have to fake it? ermm.. i got some bad news about what Acting is my man
Agreed. Amazing actor..sooo talented.
@@immune18 What do you mean?
Acting is literally the definition of faking it 😂
I love the little fist pump that Ryan Gosling did when Forrest Whittaker won, such a good sport, and a very well deserved Oscar.
Speaking of good sports, forgot to mention how DiCaprio and Gosling gave him a standing ovation.
+Hassaan Mirza Will Smith also gave Forest Whittaker a handshake and standing ovation.
like they had a choice
It may be just me but it often seems like Gosling does not really care about awards, considering his reaction when both winning and losing. He seems like a pretty chill guy
Ryan stood up for him bcuz it was probably one of the best an well deserved oscar ever not to mention his speech 👏
That was one of the best Oscar acceptance speeches of all-time! 💯🔥
Johnny Montalvo joe Pesci’s was better
@@lzi9452 simply Thank You!
adrian's was the best
Johnny Montalvo literally felt every second of sincerity
Joaquin's was great too
This speech remains as one of the guiding forces of my life.
Totally agree.
You are correct sir, he and Russell Crow, when he won for gladiator, two of the best I ever heard.
.
Yeah I'm just seeing this speech for the first. This is one of the best Oscar speeches I've seen.
Look at Leo's face (and some of the others) ... they are captivated by what he's saying.
Unbelievably talented, completely deserved, great story also.
Yes
Beautiful and talented man
He's incredible. I love this actor so much.
Also can't believe James McAvoy wasn't nominated at the oscars at all. Because he was perfect in this movie.
James McAvoy is a huge talent.
Waiting for his Oscar also.
Would’ve thought Forrest would be support and James lead. Leo up for blood diamond instead of departed is odd too.
He had a crazy performance in split
Mccvoy didn't stand a chance infront of Whittaker
He should have had several nominations already. His performances in The Last King of Scotland, Atonement and Split were incredible.
That emotional look from Keisha, his wife at the time, always moved me. May she rest in peace 💙
I spend too much time watching these acceptance speeches, but this speech was certainly worth sifting through the rest. One of the finer speeches i've heard in this life time.
Facts !
I’m a sucker for acceptance speeches! Especially of my favorite actors. I love movies!
@@suzyq3040 Same
Me too
What, and such, a heartfelt and moving speech to say the least.
how weird it is, that to hear from the Idi Amin, for me, very weird
What a beautiful speech--He not only thanked God, but also his ancestors--POWERFUL.
Ryan Goslings reaction is so nice! He is legitimately happy for Forest!
What a beautiful speech. So genuine. I cried of excitement for him. That's how a speech should be at the oscars
He came right back out to accept an award for his speech. I have been watching these all afternoon and this is hands down one of the most inspirational. The look on everyone's face tells all, especially will smith and Leo dicaprio.
right. Will, Leonardo, and James McAvoy looked like they were about to cry
Rachel Stoutamire looool
This man is a revelation in acting, and it's rather unfortunate that he isn't given the meaty roles that other lesser actors receive. He is a Best Actor winner yet he has done far too many 'B' movies for someone of his talents. Still, that night belonged to him, and his acceptance speech was just so heartfelt and genuine. Matthew McConaughey just won this years Best Actor for his performance in 'Dallas Buyers Club', and he deserved it, but it amazes me how he is given so much 'credit' and 'props' for thanking God; like it is such a rare occurrence; when there were others, like Mr Whitaker, who have done so before him.
It's a new age, with new challenges; to have faith now is more of a struggle than it was 5 years ago when "atheism" was just a mumbled idea rather than a pseudo-movement
Roy Batty "Pseudo-movement?" lol
Luisan Falconi It's a false movement; people think atheism is new, fresh and exciting when it's been around since the dawn of religion. It's nothing new, it's nothing special, and most importantly history shows it also culminates in not much at all.
Roy Batty
Well effen said!
lmao. By that logic, nothing is new because most, if not all ideas have always existed.
Gosh, I love this man. He's such a strong, involved, God-fearing, family-oriented man. On top of all that, he's a wonderful actor, director and producer. God bless you and your family, Forest Whitaker. 😊
It's funny that God-fearing is an admirable trait
God fearing?? .... That's not a quality..... God loving is...
To me it is. It is a virtue. It is a good moral quality. May God bless you, Sunny Singh. I hope you continue to receive all that you need and desire. :)
allah is the moon god of the mid east
that was such an honest and poignant speech. Amazing performance!
Now thats a speech!
Forrest is very underrated. He was fantastic in the Last King of Scotland. His performance was so believable.
1:22 James McAvoy looks so proud, hopefully one day he gets his too, he was so robbed for Split not even a nomination...
Arya Stark yer I know right, Split was legit, the foundation of acting.... I can only assumed James has pissed off someone BIG from the film industry or that he just hasn’t been a ‘yes man’ like other fakers.
It's beautiful to see other actors being happy for one another. I loved Gosling's reaction.
Everyone talking about Leonardo DiCaprio not winnig, when Peter O'Toole died without winning any of his eight nominations
it s a life
Stefan Siljanoski Absolutely. Or greatness of Forest Whitaker.
and what about Ridley Scott? Fml
At least Peter O Toole won an honorary oscar.
That is not true. They are both great actors. DiCaprio has been doing great work for decades, from Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries all the way to Wolf and Reverent.
absolutely adore me some Mr. Forest Whitaker. He's speech was so heartfelt and special. But I have to say seeing Will, Leo, Dijimon and Ryan standing up for him was really cool too. They know he acted his ass off in Scotland and deserved that Oscar.
Forest is an amazing and inspiring man. I love his vulnerability.
The epitome of dignity and grace. Real stand up character.
OMG how exciting moment his voice is shaking so much.
Lemme tell you, this year was STACKED. So much raw talent on display.
So much respect to Forest Whitaker!!! He has done amazing work over his career.
Forest Whitaker is one of my favorite actors. He brings out the humanity in each character he plays. He seems to have such a beautiful spirit. Well deserved award for Last King of Scotland.
I was surprised at how good Forest Whitaker was in The last King of Scotland.
Well deserved
Greatest Oscar acceptance speech ever made. I was around 17 years old or so when I watched it live and it left me both in tears and covered in goose bumps.
This is beautiful
That was probably one of the best speeches I've ever heard
I love Forest Whitaker in every movie he has been in...so talented
Wow!!
By far, the best speech ever for someone winning An Oscar.
You can feel the passion of his words.
This guy’s career is like wine, it gets better with time
Enough!! 🇵🇷❤️
Forest Whitaker is also the director of "Hope Floats" back in the year 1998. The nice speech he ever had to say during his winning oscar for "The Last King Of Scotland" movie in 2006.
He should be nominated more
@@lexkanyima2195 Right! : )
I've been watching the Oscars since 1995 and this still remains of the best, and most genuine, speeches I've seen.
Forest's performance in The Last King of Scotland is startling. It truly is one of THE great screen performances of all time.
This was one hell of a list let me tell you, most if not all those guys deserved that award in that category
+Daniel Shamu right? holy sh*t what a spectacular lineup, like, I'm happy Forest won because I love his performances so much, but every single one of the other nominees had won, they'd still be worthy winners... Seriously though, I hope DiCaprio gets his Oscar next time, because we've been sleeping on his talent a few times (I say that remembering his performances in blood diamond, wolf of wall street, even django unchained as a supporting actor...)
Such a well deserved win. A truly underrated performance
Forest Whitaker's performance in The Last King of Scotland is cringe-inducing, in a good way. Whenever I see him I remember Idi Amin and I just tremble in fear. I mean he was scary in The Last King of Scotland and just watching it gave me and my sister Forest-Whitaker-as-Idi-Amin-phobia! You know a performance is great if it still affects people years after!
Eddie VIII Still won every major acting award that year for Best Actor. He was amazing. Just watched that movie. He deserved it. I would've loved to see Will Smith win it too.
Eddie VIII Pretty much every performance that year is forgettable then. I just watched The Last King Of Scotland, I know for damn sure I will never forget his performance. Leo's is forgettable. Will Smith's was great, but not Oscar worthy, O'toole is great, but certainly not his best, more like a late career gem. Gosling gave a great performance, but it is certainly forgettable as well. Whittaker's performance is not forgettable. Maybe for you, but anyone who has seen that movie will surely not forget his performance. He deserved the trophy. More so than anyone else that year. Did you come here to this video just to hate on him?
Eddie VIII Let me tell you how pissed I am about Edward Norton not winning best actor for American History X, that is a crime in my book. Leo is quite overrated. His performance is What's Eating Gilbert Grape is amazing, and I loved him in Wolf of Wall Street. But he isn't all he is made out to be for sure.
Movie was good and his acting way above super. Had my eye on him since first saw in small role in platoon and he is great whatever role he does. Idi Amin was made for him.
Eddie im sorry it wasnt Transformers part X for you...
Eddie VIII Geez you’ve got such a hate-boner for a lot of things, you need to fucking cool it.
Peter O'Toole's face when the winner was announced broke my heart =(
He should have won Oscar long long ago... for The Lion in Winter (1968). But his best performance is in Lawrance of Arabia (1962). That year, Oscar-winner Gregory Peck also delivered one of the finest performances of all time....
Forrest did a FANTASTIC job in ALL his films but he was menacing and terrific in the film 💯💯👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👑 🏆
He was amazing in The Last King Of Scotland !
Damn straight he was. I really thought he WAS Idi Amin. By the way, Forest won no less than 26 awards for his role, including all 5 major award groups (Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Critic's Choice, and Screen Actors Guild).
Yeah he truley is something special indeed may god bless him and us all .
don't you feel he played more of a supporting character
A supporting charachter of who? James Mcavoy? lol
030terror Yeah James Mcavoy was clearly the lead character.
Wow that was a pretty powerful Oscar speech, as opposed to him thanking first and most importantly the director, then aaaall the cast and crew who were all so amazing and a pleasure to work with, then the studio, then his family, he did something unique.
He is just heartbreaking. Everytime he speaks I feel like crying!!! Extrodinary actor.
Leo DiCaprio was great in Blood Diamond, arguably his best performance. But Forest Whitaker was mesmerizing in Last King of Scotland. Tough choice, either of them would have been very deserving.
I think they picked the right choice but that’s a tough one
@@amosonyoutube it is very picky that year
Reese Witherspoon... damn.
+Jérémie Bradette agree
She's average
Broad shoulders
Jérémie Bradette Agreed. She’s beautiful
An average white girl
My favorite kind of speech: straight from the heart.
Last King of Scotland is not much of a movie, but Forest's performance as Idi Amin was simly perfection.
His speech put tears in my eyes! That is the sign of a great actor! I've never been moved that much by any other Oscar acceptance speech before!
One of the best acceptance speeches ever.
Forest is a legend.
What an amazing speech! Congrats to a great Spirit!
It's pretty funny watching the previous Best Actor awards being given because it seems like Leo is a nominee in 90% of them.
man, that IS a trip
+MokosChannel
Blood diamond
You ever heard of Peter O'Toole? Lol. Both Great Actors.
I just LOVE him so so much. No airs and graces, just a wonderful human being.
probably the best and most touching acceptence speech I've ever seen by one of the greatest actors of all time
Damn that speech! Even Leo is about to cry. haha
That was a powerfull speech.
The most incredible, amazing, real speeches I have ever heard!
One word would be enough to describe him, this movie and this speech: AMAZING !
Best Oscar speech ever.
That speech was awesome. He captivated the whole audience. Well deserved Oscar. I also thought Kerry Washington should have received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She was awesome as well.
Made me cry sir, Thank you.
Heartfelt, resonating, and concise. Perfect speech.
Leonardo NoOscaro
he better win an Oscar before I die
sorry but peter o'toole not win an Oscar and died
alberto Cine That is a much bigger shame
alberto Cine Peter O'Toole receieved an Honorary Oscar.
Jan Schönfeld But not a normal oscar.
alberto Cine He got an honorary Oscar
What a speech!❤
His performance was remarkable such a well deserved award .. and incredible speech
What a great actor! What a great speech! What a great man 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 One of the most talented actors of this era.
He has great spirit.
This isn't the first time I've watched this in this lifetime. But I probably will again before the end of my lifetime, and if I'm lucky, I'll do it while entering into the next lifetime.
_Poozer_ 😂
When he was speaking i dont know why i wanted to cry 😪
Don’t you love the genuine awe in his reaction. Amazing
That's how you accept an oscar from the heart. and.......from, in my opinion,
the best african american actor in hollywood, and one of the purest actors
in the biz. forest whitaker.
wonderful actor i am impressed
Absolutely a outstanding performance in that movie...well deserved.
Such a beautiful speech! God bless him.
Great Actor!
Leo stands and claps....that's how a legend respects another ❣️
Beautiful speech.
he played Amin beautifully. i have it on dvd and are watching it right now for the like 10th time. excellent job.
damn his wife is B E A U T I F U L
Gotta take a minute to catch my breath over the gorgeous and adorable James McAvoy.
terry brown I'm female, you nitwit.
What an inspiration. I had watched this speech many times before the movie, and after finally watching it a couple months ago, I must say he deserved it. His acting was electric. And as for this speech, he exemplifies what it means to be an actor, and how we actors can find the light in our work and inspire the world through it. It is amazing the power we have as artists-and frankly, the power everyone has if they believe in themselves and one another-to change the world. God Bless Everyone! Let’s achieve our dreams! ❤️🙏😊🌎
Totally deserved win, and a great speech by a wonderful actor.
That closing!
Such a good list of nominees!
best speech ever. a humble man telling what he believes in. and he is right. getting in connection with all that is, lets us understand from heart.
The most beautiful speech I've ever heard, he's alluding to things so profound that I wish he had more time to expound on.
forest for president lol
Come on! You really think that a celebrity can become President? ... Oh! Wait!
@@Big-guy1981 Reagan and Trump became POTUS and were celebrities before taking the job. Reagan had some prior experience as the SAG President and Governor of California and Trump was CEO of his company. Arnold Schwarzenegger was Chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and Governor of California.
what a magnificent speech
Excellent speech and actor. Love him. Congrats to him and well deserved.
This is one of the best Oscar speeches ever.
Some of the other nominees were almost brought to tears with this speech, as was his co-star in Last King of Scotland, James McAvoy.
What a heartfelt and sincere speech. I had always been a fan of Whittaker's work and was pleased to see him earn the Academy Award for that amazing performance.
Whitaker gave a great performance in Last King of Scotland, but I thought he gave a slightly better performance in Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai.
both great movies!!
Brilliant Speech Forest Congratulations x
Amazing actor...
I like how Leo is completely dialed in to Forests speech
oh my goodness, im crying! what a wonderful speech! i havent seen the last king of scotland, but if he's won an oscar especially over Leo D, then he must have done a great job!
One of my personal favourite actors of all time . Love this guy and his craft
Total class, good job sir!!
anybody who hasn't seen Ghost Dog needs to check it out immediately. Sorely underrated and another film that showcases Forest's immense talent
