    Hey y'all - make sure you listen to your doctor too. It might come up later but it didn't at cardio - walking is fine. If I went jogging for 40, I would likely pass out. my brother almost died - remember that your have a different body. You might have some stuff going on - I had to get a full cardio clearance to just start walking at a brisk pace for an hour. Everyone is different. Don't go 0-60 immediately, what worked for Josh looks amazing and he's giving great advice, but just gotta throw in the doc part.

    • @Daphoid
      @Daphoid 4 місяці тому +23

      Also going 0-60 generally means that you won't stick with it, unless you are super super dedicated and focused. And if you're not, even if the internet would judge you (who cares?), take it slow. Do a little bit every day. Make little changes. I don't put sugar in my tea, I don't drink pop, I drink juice but diluted like 90/10 water to juice (I try it straight every now and then and it's like syrup), etc. I can certainly move more, and snack less - but it's all a journey, not a 0-60 instant transformation.

    • @Z3roSh0t
      @Z3roSh0t 4 місяці тому +3

      One other point, you CAN skip dedicated cardio, but to do that you need to take much shorter rests between sets of weights (like, 30-60sec max rest time between sets). Usually means going a bit lighter weight for more reps, but you don't hurt muscle growth by doing that. Just make sure you don't over-work a muscle group too much, and yes, please see a doctor about a full physical & cardio exam before you start any kind of intense exercise program, especially if you're starting significantly overweight or have a family history.

    We're back in the cabinet! I'd love a macro counting low carb series. I've followed you since the beginning and just before the pandemic all your recipes and learning how to cook better got me through a breakup (also could justify that chicken nuggets were 'healthy' if I made them myself vs got them at chick fil a) and just love food again....but in the middle there I had a seizure as an adult and now have to eat keto. I'm pretty strict with it, I don't have a choice side from the occasional carb up day, but now can only eat most of your recipes if I heavily edit them and just hope for the best. I know keto is more excessive than low carb or 'healthier' but considering so many keto cookbooks are boring and awful it'd be really nice to have some "But Healthier" recipes that would be easier to know carb count on.

It's not hard when you have the right guidance and you dedicate yourself to the process. Since i first did the weight loss i've gone up to 200lbs and back down to 170lbs twice in the past three years. I'm currently back up to 190 and starting my cut again. It's inspiring to see what people can do once you get focused. Keep it up good sir!

    I love your channel, I love your delivery and how easy you make it for an average joe like me to understand great cooking tips in layman terms, and I love your passion. There is so much more about you to talk about. AND OUT OF ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY COULD DISCUSS, hell even CRITIQUE, THEY CHOSE TO FOCUS ON YOUR WEIGHT?! PEOPLE NEED TO STOP COMMENTING ON OTHERS BODIES. It's NONE of anyone's goddamn business.
    I'm a fat person. I've been fat ever since I started working my desk job. Unless you're my effing nutritionist, doctor or personal trainer, IDGAF about your opinions. It is none of your goddamn concern. You don't owe anyone an explanation or justification for what you choose to do with your body. These sad-ass people are masking their own shitty insecurities by pointing out what they see as a negative in others, in order to feel better about themselves. Since that's cheaper than the therapy they need but can't afford.
    I love that you're able to achieve your weight and health goals. It sucks that people said all that nasty shit and clearly, as expected, you can't ever make these people happy, cuz now they hate you for achieving it, by making excuses like Ozempic. Even if you DID do it via Ozempic, it's still kuddos to you. You're the only one that gets to decide what you need as long as it's not hurting anyone else. Keep being the amazing person that you are.

That was 5 years ago. I adjusted my activity and diet until I've regained my health and lost over 80 pounds. I feel amazing, and at 52 no one ever believes I'm that "old" lol. I follow a push, pull, hinge, squat, carry exercise regimen. Sprints for cardio are like magic for the body. I adjusted my macros over time until I ended up removing all carbs. No sugar, starch...no plants at all. I had several autoimmune conditions I was dealing with and I realized the lower my carbs got the better I felt. I've reversed or put into remission all of it. I eat fatty meat, eggs, butter, and plenty of high quality salt. I had severe sugar addiction as well. I have to keep the taste of sweet out of my mouth or I go right back to my old ways. If you workout but eat like garbage you won't lose weight. If you are starting out bigger, and the exercise is freaking you out. Literally don't work out for the first 6 months while you are dieting. You will shed all the blubber and after 6 months you will be craving the gym. That's how it worked for me at least. Thanks for the vid Josh.

      Yeah working out will help you retain muscle and strength while dieting. A couple hundred calories a day doesn’t mean much when a granola bar offsets that. But when you’re done cutting you end up with a strong healthy body rather than a malnourished one. I guess you could say that by doing weights your calorie deficit goes more towards fat loss rather than muscle loss, which is what basically everyone wants even if both strategies lose the “same” weight on the scale.

    Awesome work man! Also at 4:50 I assume you meant 320g carbs and 160g protein? Otherwise that’s a lot of protein to be chowing down on!

      I was thinking the same! All the research shows no benefit of additional protein after like 1.8g/kg body weight. That much protein won't have negative outcomes, but that's a difficult and expensive diet lol

      Yeah I think that was just a mistake. 320g of protein would be absolutely wild.

      Okay yeah I’m here wondering how many burgers he’d need to get 320g protein 😭

      I honestly didn't even think about that possibility, I just assumed he was eating ENTIRELY too many g of protein, but your idea makes much more sense.

      I just commented saying the same thing. 320P is way too high for his weight. Even at his heaviest at 240, 320P is unnecessary.

    4:50 Dude switched up the proteins for the carbohydrates.

      was it a typo?

      @@stuartlittle2962 Must be, cuz there ain't no way he could be digesting around 350g of protein without spending an hour on the toilet. Also, he'd won't even have the energy for the cardio with just around 150g of carbs.

      I honestly don't think it's a typo, check the recipes, they're all higher protein than carbs. Protein helps keep you satiated longer, also 20% of the calories of the protein is burned for digesting the proteins so it's practically the lowest caloric macro (protein 4kcal per gram but because of digestion 3.2kcal per gram, carbs: 4kcal per gram, fat: 8kcal per gram).
      Also I don't think you run to the toilet a lot from protein alone, some protein shakes may contain stuff people might have issues digesting like erythritol or what not but just protein from stuff like cheese and meat, an occasional egg, it's not gonna be as bad as eating too much fiber. Also there's no such thing as an essential carb, but there are essential proteins and fats.

      @@apocrisy3588 You're completely correct but still pro bodybuilders who're all roided up consume this much protein. Also, I've tried increasing my daily protein with just raw food which I know my body accepts, yet it took a few weeks for my body to adjust to that.
