    Thank you so much for the vids. Brings me right back to being a kid at Christmas 97. This map was on a demo disc with some pc gamer magazine around Halloween and I wanted the game immediately! Played it over and over on our old windows 95 pc lol

    Glad to see you took the feedback well :)
    The White and Yellow numbers on the medals are the total number over the campaign and the ones in this engagement.
    The kills on the mortar and weapon teams are given to all the soldiers operating the weapon. Your MG got 3 kill only to one person cause it was cause by the soldier using the MP40 and not the MG. (In Close Combat 3 I think they get 0.5 when is weapon crew assist, but not sure)

      I'm glad to take feedback! Especially with the Germans. The game was not easy as a kid, and I definitely played more as the Allies than Germans. I could use the tips and tricks.
      The white/yellow makes sense. Thanks. I was not going to put that together haha.

    New thumbnail is definitely good for telling the two campaigns apart, looks good.
    Did about as well as you could here tbh, it would probably have been better to have your MG squads on the granary and that 2 story building right next door instead of further down the road. The airborne has to cross open ground to assault you there and as you noticed the blind spot of one building made it so your teams couldn't support each other.
    You're going to want to try and establish wider positions so you can get squads with overlapping fields of fire that are out of assault range of each other. Having a deeper line means your squads get overwhelmed one after the other instead of a wider line where if one spot is penetrated the others to the side can enfilade the allies.
    Making sure to keep the airborne under some sort of suppressing fire in the open as long as possible is really useful on these southern open maps so keep checking those lines of fire like you are and when you've finally got more than 6 men and a dream you'll do great. Good stuff keeping that back MG on defend too, until you've got a specific target you want them to really hammer let them keep those airborne squads from being able to move at more than a crawl.

      Some further notes, as I happen to have been motivated to boot up my own copy of CC2:
      You'll only have visual on enemy squads if you have troops in Defend stance (or just something that's not hiding or sneaking) so if possible you can have a reserve squad right next to an MG, have the reserve squad on Defend and they'll sight enemies for your hidden MG to pick at.
      As the Germans you really want to draw enemy small arms fire once they get pinned. If they're advancing you've got a problem, but once their squads start throwing bullets at you hunker down and let them run low on ammo, only replying to keep them from advancing again, they will eventually run out.
      Don't be afraid to go for something relatively unorthodox, I managed to hold Son Town by leaving my 8.8 to the wolves and having everyone else guard the broom factory outside of town.
      Finding one or two good positions (preferably with a strategic point) that you can keep the allies away from you at is invaluable. Making sure they can't get into assault range will just have them waste their ammo and they'll eventually wear down to a ceasefire.
      By the way, don't be afraid to toggle that ceasefire at the very start of the battle, the AI will accept it when it's taken too many losses or thinks it doesn't have enough firepower to win.

      That's great to know. Hiding has probably been a problem for me then. I have definitely had some very close calls where they're basically on top of me before I engage, and my hidden troops are probably not spotting them until they're right outside the door.

      That's something I'll have to keep in mind as the next battles unfold. I initially had them there, but I felt like the LOS was poor enough they couldn't do much. Looking back, I probably should have had them there anyway.

    • @131scavy
      @131scavy 2 місяці тому +1

      One of the uses of a reserve squad near your more valuable MGs and shutzen is to be the initial spotter by having them switch to Defend first, so they stand up, see the enemy and you can pick what you want your MG to shoot at.
      Alternate having them hunker down back into hide for a few seconds to both save ammo and make the allies just keep shooting at the area instead of specific targets.
      Keeping those airborne squads out of assault range (

    I guess that putting both machine guns together, covering each other, would have been a better choice. How you place them together at the beginning. The Americans would have needed to run across a bigger open stretch instead of using hedges.
    Having only 2 teams you are not sacrificing a lamb, you are sacrificing half your herd.
    And yes, always check lines of sight BEFORE clicking the BEGIN button.
    Great game, I watched all the allies campaign in a couple of days and now catch up with you.

    Also, the difference between the white and yellow values, if I remember correctly, is that the white vale refers to the kills and acts of bravery/cowardice for the most recent battle and the yellow value relates to the same stats but for the operarion/campaign overall.

    The white numbers tell you for that battle and the yellow is over the campaign. With tanks the yellow number gets pretty high if you keep them alive.

    My favorite CC2 map! or maybe is just because I played the demo so much that it got imprinted in my brain...🤔
    A TIP: use zoom-out (the magnifying glass with the minus symbol besides the cease-fire button hand symbol) to see the whole map area at once and better plan your strategy for that battle. Also when on that view, you will notice that one of your teams will have their team name in BOLD, that means that unit is the designated LEADER of the whole force. This unit will be very important, place it near wavering troops to rally them faster, to anchor problematic spots in your line etc be very careful though, as their loss can be very detrimental to the overall force morale of your troops which you can see in the "Troop Status" indicator next to the magnifying glass, it tells you the overall morale of your teams, if green = good they can keep fighting, if red=bad they will panic and surrender more easily.

    • @RubberDucky087
      @RubberDucky087  2 місяці тому +1

      How did I not know this! I get the troop status, but not knowing there was company commander and that they had a morale impact would have changed so much!
