- In this video I show you how to tame a Baryonyx. The only really annoying thing about trying to tame Baryonyx is they have a very long stun effect, however that is only when they are swimming in water. Otherwise, they are just a fairly speedy creature who kinda hurts a bit when they hit you. Other than that, they are a fairly straightforward tame which can be bola'd and knocked out fairly easily for low to mid level, and is easy to trap in the higher levels. A good all-around mount once you get it tamed. However there is a drawback of them only eating fish, but they are very good at mass slaughtering fish to consume.

There was an undocumented change to the Baryonyx on November 7th which increased it's drag weight so it will no longer be affected by bolas.
It can also no longer be picked up by an Argentavis.

I play on switch and bolas still affect them and I can pick them up with argi
@@mudkipgaming7086 Because Switch is severely outdated. When you see anyone mention ARK changes, they're never talking about Switch. They're talking about PC and occasionally PS and Xbox. Once Switch can play on something more than the Island, it'll be relevant.

If you want to grind lvls with a bary, go to herbivore island and set it on aggressive near the water. It will collect a lot of fish meat but make sure to have other barys, or other amphibious Dino’s, on standby because once the bary gets swarmed by those jellyfish, they’re dead.

I just had such a stressful time trying to tame one with the classic ramp trap. I’m a very new ark player and this was my first trap attempt. I built my trap a little too far away and had to lure it quite a ways. I then proceeded to trap it and have 3 triceratops fight it at once. I thought it was gonna die bc I had damaged it a bit with my pteranodon to attract it. I helped kill the trikes and successfully tamed it. :)
Damn man I just hop into a large rock or on a hill and then use tranq hours to tame my carno and 5 raptors and theri and I’m just a beginner Since I’m only level 29 💀
If you have a decent amount of speed and a decent amount of health once you’re level 25, it’s pretty easy to tank some bites and then chase the baryonyx down if the baryonyx isn’t very high level.

Easy to knock with a longneck while on Griffin it eats meat and likes exceptional kibble, u can take alot faster if u starve tame

Basic. Bola then tranq the face. Don’t worry about the drainage, it is slow. Slower than a dodo’s even.

After constructing the kaprosuchus trap I got bitten by a baryonyx which then got clobbered by my parasaur which I had taken for transporting the supplies. I managed to stop my parasaur killing the bary and starterd feeding her fish. I'm guessing I have a slightly different ARK than Tecorsuh since it only took a few minutes to tame her. This is the second time my attempt on Tecorsuh's traps backfired on me but I'm quite happy with the result.

Sucks how I started playing this game when a good amount of dinos got changed up..thought I could bola this damn thing and lost my parasaur..I could’ve saved it but I basically watched it die while I was still tranqing the baryonyx lmfao..best early tame I’ve ever gotten
I literally stayed on a huge rock and knocked it out with tranq arrows and got it, very useful dino 😁

That rock drake would've been an interesting tame.
A small trick about using Baryonyx: Its resurfacing speed is a massive pain... except if you aim your weapon up with riding it. It will direct the Baryonyx to swim up.
I tamed one of these guys without traps, just used a crossbow up close on it, and it was easy.
Depends on difficulty, if you are on 0.3 it will take much less arrows but at 1 it can take like the x5
I just want to know one thing: why you use superior kibble for the dire wolf, while the baryonix, that is much more stronger, uses regular kibble? It's just weird, man.

You can tame a middle level Baryonyx (lvl 50-150) when you ride a high level trike with around 3.5 k health. Shoot from the Trike to the Baryonyx and chase him. The Trike will not die if the Trike has double health as the Baryonyx! This was my method to tame.

somehow in ark mobile a baryonyx can still be immobilized by a bola for some reason probably a bug because the bola is not visible in the legs in ark mobile

I already have a dolphin but I will definitely tame a baryonyx only for deep sea dives.

You forgot the mention that Baryonyx is one of the largest creatures you can safely enter and exit caves on the Island with and make excellent combat and spelunking tames.

Tip for new player:if you cant use stone, you can use wood however, once the bary is on the trap, try to bola the bary. It should stop it from damaging the the wood and proceed to shoot it with a bow and tranq arrows.

Bolas don't work anymore, and you can't pick them with argies. Time for a new video? A cheap wood ramped box trap works best.

Thank you for this video, I found 145 male bary and used the 1x1 box trap and I am currently taming it:>
The hardest part this time for taming the bary was luring it to the trap since it kept on losing focus

My easiest method is drain its stamina using argy. I just let the bary hit my argy while were in the air. When the bary wont do any hits anymore, ill drop it and hit it with traq arrows/darts.
(Barys doesnt do enough damage to your tamed creatures).

Rock drakes are wacky in the wild, I always get attacked by break dancing rock drakes when I steal their eggs
i play single on mobile and max dinos are lvl300 i found a 280 and tamed it with 5 kibble and soothing balm it was at least 30 minute starving hes so cool
