- In this video I talk about how to tame a Tapejara. I only focus how to tame one that is on the ground, mainly because the ones that make it into the air are now a two person job. The solutions I focus on are ones that make sure the Tapejara doesn't make it off the ground, including using a bola, using a bola then throwing a structure on it, or a rare flower and a bird cage.
You wake up in the middle of nowhere, maybe it's a beach, a mountain, a forest, or a jungle, but it is no place that you have known. There is a strange device implanted into your arm. Due to an update changing taming times, times and quantity of food mentioned during that section are approximately halved.
Tap-eh-har-ah is the most accepted pronunciation I found in the community, it's also the one that I personally use, so it is the one I used.
If you want to be the most accurate, the word originated from a tribe in Brazil, and it was most likely transcribed into Portuguese. In Portuguese, the letter "J" has more of a "zuh" sound than a "juh" or "huh". Therefore the most accurate way to say Tapejara is more Tap-eh-zer-ah or maybe even Tap-eh-jer-ah might be acceptable.

But to answer your question, the word used for the name originated from the aboriginal Tupi people in Brazil, which leads me to believe that it would have been transcribed into Brazilian Portuguese, which pronounces the letter "J" somewhere between the English pronunciation of "Z" and "J", something like a "zh" sound. So, somewhere between Tap-eh-zer-ah and Tap-eh-jer-ah is the most correct pronunciation.

I've been luring with rare flowers for years. Personally, I use 2 stone dino gates on either end and stone doorframes with stone ceilings

I tamed mine without any ghillie and standing near its aggro range and praying that my bola could reach it. Tamed my Tapejaras that way XD

There very rare on the island but you’re almost guaranteed to find one on the the mountain/hill near Stonehenge that has metal and crystal on. There also common on the eastern side of the map next to the swamp

I killed 4 tapehara while taming. I'd recommend using tranq darts or shocking tranq darts. Tranq arrows are having a high chance of killing it.
Not really, unless you're using a really high dmg crossbow. There is a slight chance of killing it depending on it's stats, but nothing significant. But with primitive weapons I agree if you are using only a bola.

sidenote there guys. if you have a quetz. all you need is to build your trap on the quetzal and repeat the same rare flower method. this works well when the tapejara is very high up and you cant get it down. and there's rarely any safer spot than high in the sky anyway

Thank you, new to the game and tamed my first about 1 hour ago, first try i failed due to argentavis been on aggressive and he took flight so i chased him down and used the flowers to get him back down, hopped off and used them swingy ball things (sorry forgot the name) he was only lvl 44 so was great practice

I'm guessing there was alot of cut takes where you missed the bola, it ran early, or you couldn't tranq it in time and it went flying into the stratosphere, never to be seen again
If you are playing one the island and the Tapejara does not come down you can make it flee in the direction of the Volcano, once it hits the edges pull back and grapple close to it then use your bola and have your way with it.

The way I tamed mine was because it spawned in a rock with only its head sticking out
But that was argy egg when you showed that tape egg can make superior kibble.

I just raid a nearby beaver dam for the rare flowers and just eat them every once in a while to keep it angry at me, and then while its angry, I just keep shooting it until its knocked out
For me Tapejara is one of the cutest pterosaurs plus elegant ... thats why i made a custom of it for my CHANNEL... ( its a lego like figure only) .... i want to make more more pterosaurs soon... i want all the dinosaurs and extinct creatures to be featured in my channel ... they deserve an equal footing ... ihope i could make a battle for them too soon... btw cool video

You do all this and i just stuned a tapejara with a bola and i was hiting it with my hands and it fell. (NO hate to the video) 😁
this is creative way of doing tames .
The method I used: fly above tapejara with argy, jump off, activate parachute, grapple hook argy with crossbow, release shoot, descend on grapple, throw bola, release grapple, pull 2nd parachute just before ground, wait tapejara to escape bola (being careful not to spook it), throw second bola, shoot it with tranq darts, watch it get eaten by carno....
Doesn't include the hours of messing up by forgetting parachutes, grapples, or bolas... or forgetting to put argy on follow and having to retrieve the argy with pteras...
I'm new and on Lost Island, I swear I never see one landed..
I'm going to use method with gates and rare flowers.

You can use quetzel saddle with platform with some cannon ball then shoot it in the face with the conan ball then equip the saddle don't feed it berries its saddle can be unlocked at lever 100

another method is to kill literally every creature nearby, wear some decent flak, and then eat a bunch of rare flowers. then lure it somewhere you can knock it out with ease, like a trap.
I just run up on it with a bola throw th bola while it's doing the animation right before it runs and then shoot it with tranqs

The way I always do it is just run up to it while swinging a bola and bola it
I put 3 gateways with 2 gates and one open, then ate a rare flower and it chased me into the cage, I also killed dinos at the same time because there wasn’t just a tapejara there

Easiest way for me is using a net projectile to trap it upon sneaking up on it :)
Nice i only came here to see anyones way i already tamed mine my method was to bola it and shot tranq arrows on it's head until it's torporidity reaches the max level i have 2 tapejaras
When I got my first tapejara I found it in. A green obilesk and it was low on land and it was trap under the rocks so I tranq it and I tamed it

I tamed a tapejara when
I was at lvl 42, it ran in to a rock and get stuck so I shot it down with tranq arrows fed it 50 raw meat 3x soothing balm and 10 narcotics. It didn’t eat any of the narcotics it just tamed up
