    My favourite things are guys with backpack bass cannons leaving a trail of empty beer cans and dogs off leash that crap out uprooted stumps, but do it in a way their owners never see it. Personally I don't understand the guy, that on a 700-800 foot hole loses his sh*t because his group of 12 is putting but you throw drive and he's yelling that the hole is his and not to throw up on him (and no, I can't crush 700ft+ drives, it's tough enough doing 350.). There are strange people out there.

    Thanks so much for illuminating the subtleties of the game. Players may be hesitant to mention behavior that doesn't align with their principles - one may not get invited to play again and never know why. Would be embarassing and a shame. For example, I never thought about waiting until a shot drops before praising the throw, but now it makes perfect sense. Good etiquette is universal.

    Interesting to hear about jumping ahead. I've had a few rounds where groups of 3-8 people don't let anyone play through so if I see they're on hole 2 and hole 3 isn't busy (and I'm solo), I've started ahead. I didn't consider it inconsiderate (as I generally didn't slow them down); however, I can see how starting at hole 3 with a group of 4 in front of a group of less than 4, that'd be pretty inconsiderate (and not really common sense). Good set of unwritten rules!

    • @DiscGolfDownUnder

      1. If a group of casual players let's you play through you amaze them with a Birdie.

    A lot of people need to learn rule 10 in my area. I see so many beer cans on my local courses and I’ve had several instances where I’ve been stuck in front of or behind a group where someone is smoking weed and stinking things up. Obviously a large majority of disc golfers don’t do this but to a brand new player it doesn’t make the sport look classy

    • @defeqel6537
      @defeqel6537 3 роки тому

      That's the problem with that rule, it only takes a couple of bad apples to totally ruin the landscape. And yeah, it's probably a problem everywhere, some people just cannot help but litter (especially beer cans). It's especially annoying in courses less traveled that might not have active up-keep, or are in a forest, etc.

  • @jaredwillard3022

    Saying nice shot isn't as big of a deal as the superstitious people blaming things that don't actually affect their shot. That's the problem, take responsibility for what you do. If you're constantly looking for something to blame for bad shots, it's going to be much harder to improve because you're not looking at what you did to the disc, you're blaming a non factor for what the disc did.

    Don't ever say nice shot while the disc is still flying! The disc will immediately careen to the nearest obstruction, and it is colloquially known as "nice-ing" somebody. (Edit: I wrote this comment before finishing the video lol, rule 13.)

    • @jaredwillard3022
      @jaredwillard3022 3 роки тому +1

      That's the dumbest rule ever. Saying nice shot doesn't do anything to the disc, if it hits something that deflects it, it still may have had good flight and release. People who get upset at others for "nice-ing" need to simply take more responsibility for their actions. Stop being a whine baby who blames what they do on other factors that don't actually affect the disc.

    • @SeanPS
      @SeanPS 3 роки тому +1

      @@SeanPS Its really stupid. I prefer the vibe of people being able to encourage. It just takes some awareness and really kindness to let faster groups play through if you decide to start somewhere else and find a group behind you.

    Rule 6 part 2
    When someone contacts you about your lost disc, you should be willing to tip the finder. We don't know their life/schedule, you may be asking them to go out of their way to meet up or ship. They were honest and contacted you, you should be thankful and tip them. Could be a used disc, could be a couple bucks. But people will be more likely to return your discs if they know you appreciate them for it

    Saying that casual players who want to play loud music should use earbuds leads directly unsafe play. You can’t hear all of the various sound cues that would tell you that there is someone ahead in your line of play that you may not see. For instance, playing a round where you happen to be playing faster than someone ahead, you may be completely unaware that you are coming up on someone, whereas you would have heard people chaining in putts, etc. if you didn’t have earbuds in. I’ve had this happen to me on a local course, and it’s very disconcerting to have a destroyer come whizzing by your head when you around a corner in the fairway.

    Rule no. 14 and the explanation behind, makes no sense to me. Will anyone get hurt on their self-esteem if they don't get to throw first after "winning" a hole? I like a set turn order, and as a newbie it makes more sense for me to watch the other players throw first, so that I can learn from what they are doing right/wrong.

  • @mhsplat10
    @mhsplat10 3 роки тому +1

    The only addition would be to identify that distractions / moving is the responsibility of the player who is throwing to identify. If they need you to move or there is a problem then they must identify it. There is an expectation of players that we should just know you are in the wrong spot. It is only a problem if it is continuously happening. The first time should not be an issue.

      But yeah, I actually saw some inconsiderate jerk (they may have been too intoxicated...at least that's my guess) at my local course where, in plain view of the pro shop of all things, this dope actually started peeing at the base of one of the baskets!!! That takes inconsiderate and stupid to the next level!!!

      I would love to see more restrooms on or near courses. The main reason my wife does not play much is the lack of restrooms.
