Chance, who plays the ‘city slicker’ grew up WAY out in the country - almost far enough out they needed to pipe in sunshine. What’s so fun about HF is their willingness to tease each other. No egos.
Hillbilly is a term for someone who grew up way, way out in the country (or just really likes country life) and is perceived to be a bit unsophisticated. (Think the old tv show Beverly Hillbillies if you’ve ever seen it.) The song is saying that everyone has a bit of “country” in them.
Samantha I totally understand. Tim just melts my heart. I just can't help it. Hillbilly bone means you have a deep part of yourself that will respond to hillbilly music and culture. T. hat part inside you just will make you always be responsive to hillbilly, which really just means country music. Yee haw! That's just county for HELL YEAH!!!!
It’s a Blake Shelton song I think. The boys did it justice. What’s funny is that Chance is playing the city slicker in this and he’s the most country of them all growing up in the sticks of Alabama. Just a lot of fun. Love all of those low notes by Tim. They look like they’re so much fun to party with. Good reaction Sam!🥰 They have a new song out today called Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden….the boys are dressed as cowboys…sigh!
This is a Blake Shelton cover, featuring Trace Adkins in the original. As I recall their video has the two of them, a couple of big ol' country boys, going for a meal at a high end restaurant. They get a little disruptive, and have fun with it. BTW, I believe the other people in this video are wives, girlfriends and friends of the Home Free group members.
You can't go wrong with anything Home Free sings! They make you feel so good, especially in their songs/ covers like this.. They are #1 on my list! Hope you have a great day!!
Love these guys so much. What a fun song! This is a great one when you are down & need a lift. And always extra special hearing Tim's low notes. Chance is playing the city slicker but he is the most country of the group. He grew up in the sticks.
If you don’t know what grits are, they are essentially the same thing used in polenta. This IS one of the sexiest songs they do. In the ‘behind the scenes’ video, I think Adam says something about it being sexual. A hillbilly started out being a derogatory term for people who lived back in the hills of Appalachia, particularly those in the southern US. Others have appropriated it and use it to just mean not from the city but out in the countryside. Thanks, Samantha!
As previously mentioned, Chance is really a country, but I find it humorous that they sort of refer to Rob as a "Bubba;" that's usually used for some big ole country boy. Rob grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis Minnesota, and is definitely a city boy! A F150 is a Ford pickup truck; a 30 aught 6 (30.06) is a type of cartridge used in a rifle. (Someone correct me if used the wrong fun terminology.)
I like when they include family and friends in their videos and here ya have Tim's wife who is a good singer herself. I have yet to see them include Tristin Rupp in a video, I have seen her sing and act. Tristin along with Chris and 7th Ave. did Rockin Robin ft. Rob and his superb whistling.
This is such a great video to watch, so much fun. Jenika Tim's wife was in this in the white t-shirt. And Austin's girlfriend at the time Oleana. He danced with her so you can pick her out. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
Thanks so much for your great reaction to our favorite guys! This song has always been one of my favorites at their live shows (been to 7 now) and the audience just gets sooo into it, stomping, clapping, singing along. And yeah, there is a lot of screaming when the guys do their "sexy" moves together. Take care!
You really need to be an American to understand this song, which is really about southern culture. Basically the song is saying that deep down inside a person is a positive reaction to southern music and that once you hear it you have a positive reaction, making you want to hear more.
Lots of us 'country queens' in the west too. Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, etc. I grew up riding bareback and barefoot, milking cows, feeding stinking chickens, riding quads and gutting Trout. 😜😄
Yup, I grew up doing all of those things in the West, and then I moved to Ohio and kept doing them. I think it's more rural vs urban than South vs Yankee. Oh--and for reference, an "F-150" is a Ford half-ton pickup truck, and a "30--06" is, strictly speaking, a rifle cartridge (.30 caliber, invented in 1906) that started life as a battle-rifle and general-purpose machine-gun chambering but quickly took over the civilian medium-game hunting market in the early-to-mid 20th century. In this context, the singer doesn't mean the cartridge itself, he means a hunting rifle (almost certainly bolt-action, probably with a riflescope mounted) chambered for that cartridge.
I have some great singers for you to react to 1-Daisy Gray 2- Lucy Thomas music 3- Alexa Melo 4- Kenadi Dodds 5- DEA MATRONA!!!!! SERIOUSLY TALENTED BUNCH OF SINGERS!!!!!!
Great reaction! Not sure if you’ve done these but please add them to your list of Home Free MUSTS: Dreamer feat Texas Hill Live at the Ryman One Man Band Brother Listen to the Music And then these 3 originals in this order, as there’s a thread from one to the next: Catch Me If You Can Dive Bar Saints Leave This Town Looking forward to more Home Free reactions, our boys never disappoint!
Hey Miss Samantha Scott great reaction love. I love that song and videos it's the fun video the original singer is Blake Shelton.. Nothing but love to you from your buddy in the States ❤️
Hillbilly Bone just means that, deep down inside, there's a little bit of hillbilly or country in all of us. You just have to let it out once in a while. 🙂
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your home free reactions. Not knowing some of the southern American terms like Honky-tonk even made your becoming more aware that much more enjoyable. I hope that they, (the band) respond to you and let you know how much they appreciate your sharing their talents.
The original is Trace Atkins and Blake Shelton and love it, but first time I heard Home Free's version I loved it!! They did so damn good on this one as they do with all their songs. Trace has a very deep voice so Tim was perfect for this one
Ok, Blake Shelton with Trace Adkins sing this (both artists that I've requested btw). A hillbilly bone is like a funny bone, everyone has one and you might only feel it once in a while (like when you visit folks in the country). Also, those of us that happen to be basso profondo singers have a name for that feeling you get when Tim or Geoff hits those low notes, it's a bass-gasm. I'm not being dirty or anything, it's just the look/reaction some have to very low notes coming from a human. Some are just the opposite and have that type of reaction to screaming high first tenors (like Austin) or the mid ranges like Rob or Adam. I got lucky and met my wife in high school choir, because of my low voice.
Just thinking of all the vocabulary that needs unpacking for an English girl to even begin to understand those lyrics! Just by your reaction while listening I know you got the feeling of the song, though, so don't worry about the semantics.😁
I would describe the meaning as, we all have being a hillbilly encoded in our DNA, we just don't always see it until someone brings it to our attention through exposure to the lifestyle.
Blake Shelton cover. You would not go wrong at all exploring Blake Shelton's music. He's a long-standing top artist in country music. He's married to Gwen Stephani. Unusual pairing, but it's working! These guys are like mountain climbers. Any song they attempt, they conquer!
Hillbilly bone can mean at least two things. It is not a common expression, it is constructed fresh for the song. In American English, we might say, "He doesn't have a mean bone in his body." That means that he doesn't have any meanness in him. The song suggests that more people have Hillbilly (rural Appalachian mountain culture) in them than you would think. Or at least they can enjoy it. On the other hand, "bone" is one of the three million slang terms for penis. I'm sure they referenced that somewhere in there. It's a long tradition.
I see that you have playlists for Adam, Chance, and Austin. I don't see one for Tim, but I thought you did one of his solo songs before. Maybe I missed the playlist for Home Free; it's hard to imagine that you don't have one for them.
For some reason, people seem to think that "When A Man Loves a Woman" is a beautiful, sweet, romantic song. It's really not. It's not at _all._ If your fellow sings you that song, you should either belt him one or seriously consider your life choices. Read the lyrics.
If you can't get into this one, then you just don't have the bone and I just have to feel sorry for ya. I get that this is not going to be a problem for you. heh
Who knew that 5 men doing that simple little hip dance, would be enough to make every women and many men, just Swoon like crazy. Lol. Whatch the in concert vs. yassssss please ua-cam.com/video/FkX1VqJYRU8/v-deo.html
Chance, who plays the ‘city slicker’ grew up WAY out in the country - almost far enough out they needed to pipe in sunshine. What’s so fun about HF is their willingness to tease each other. No egos.
This a fan favorite in their concerts, and I think mostly because of the “dancing” 😊
Those hip moves 🔥🔥🔥 LOL
Hillbilly is a term for someone who grew up way, way out in the country (or just really likes country life) and is perceived to be a bit unsophisticated. (Think the old tv show Beverly Hillbillies if you’ve ever seen it.)
The song is saying that everyone has a bit of “country” in them.
Another video, that makes me want to go hang out with the guys 😊
Samantha I totally understand. Tim just melts my heart. I just can't help it.

Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins
I thought this was originally a Trace Atkins and Blake Shelton song, "Hillbilly Bone"
This is a Blake Shelton cover, featuring Trace Adkins in the original. As I recall their video has the two of them, a couple of big ol' country boys, going for a meal at a high end restaurant. They get a little disruptive, and have fun with it.

I understand, Tim sang to you personally and he included lots of hip movement. Looking is fine
You cannot deny You are a HOME FRY. Your reactions are priceless. Favorite people.
Love these guys so much. What a fun song! This is a great one when you are down & need a lift. And always extra special hearing Tim's low notes. Chance is playing the city slicker but he is the most country of the group. He grew up in the sticks.
Great song…BETTER dance moves, LOVED your reaction!!❤

They've got a new one out . Delta Dawn!! It's incredible!! Yes , this one is very sexy!! Home Free forever!

You have been guided to choose a series of entertaining country music selections. I have enjoyed them with your interesting reactions.
Nothing better than living the country life. My closest neighbors are deer.
Great reaction.

Very much the same vibe is Thank God I'm a Country Boy....it is so cute.

Thanks for not stopping in the middle of the song as so many do.
One of my favorites! (And I'm not a Country music fan... but I am a Home Fry!)

Chris ( Founder of the group) left a few years ago - replaced by Adam Chance (the New Yorker role herein) .... though Adam Chance is An Alabama boy.
You need to come to America. Come to Louisiana and we’ll show you what this song is about! Lol
