  • Changing rear brake pads and rotors on a Mercedes Benz E Class W213 2017.
    It is the second time doing brakes, so I hope I did everything right; if not, please tell me what I did wrong and how to improve it?
    Usually, I do myself things like replacing brake pads and rotors

    great work, i did this today finally. Some pointers for others that try this: you need to release the parking brake otherwise it will popup an error when you try to open the brake cylinder via the menu system. The error reported is "Conditions not fulfilled. Retry with OK Cancel with Back". Once the parking brake is released you'll be fine. Another thing that caused me irritation was removing the electric connector (not the sensor) from each side, there's a clip holding it in place but it wasnt clear to me how to release it so I broke it on one side. Hopefully it wont cause me problems later, basically though it's held in with that clip and you need to push it up gently while pulling on the plug.

    Great video and nice to see the technology in some of these newer cars wrt servicing. I took a brake/suspension class way back in 2014 or so when I was a new engineer, and I had forgotten about how we had to put the EU spec Jeeps with the "lug bolts" instead of the "lug nuts", so alas mounting the wheel can be a bit iffy, but it looks like you got it down 😊

    Was able to do this job in 2 hours on my ’19 w213. The hardest part were the brake mount pins. Those suckers were on tight from the factory. WISH I had a lift for ease of access.

    Excellent video. One small improvement you could make is to note the location of the rubber composite brake pin. It is fitted to the lower position but you can't tell this in the video.

    So after you close your break fluid cap and you're done exit fitting position you don't need press the brake with your feet and pump the fluid. or is that what the exit fitting position is for?

    • @mercedes_and_more
      @mercedes_and_more Рік тому

      The brake fitting position mode frees off the e handbrake to ensure it doesn’t come on whilst you are changing the pads. You still need to manually push back the caliper (having removed the filler cap first). Once you have exited fitting mode then check the level and refit the cap. Brake pressure will return after the first press of the brake pedal 👍
