A tip for anyone else struggling to access the 'hidden' menu to select the parking brake maintenance position, you have to be in the Trip view on the dash, but also on the screen that shows mileage and not any other view (speed or Eco settings for instance). Not mentioned here or on any other video I've found and spent an hour struggling with this and cursing my car! Otherwise an excellent video that properly explains the process and gives all the correct spanner sizes and torque settings.
For those who has virtual/digital gauge, set display back to normal mode instead of speed/super, then you will be available to fiind the mantenance menu.
I kept getting a "Rear Pad Fitting Not Fulfilled" message when trying to set the brakes into fitting position. How to fix: - Set the car into Accessory Mode - Make sure your dash is on Trip > Miles, so you can access the service screen, because my Telephone + OK button combo was not doing anything if it's not on that screen. - Release the parking brake (not mentioned in video, this is what fixed the problem) - Select Brake Pad Replacement - Press OK - You can now turn off the car. You do not need to keep it in Acc mode.
I have to say, this was a really good, well explained at every step video. However, I do have two comments on procedure. You did not show the part where you clean the new disc. Every disc I have replaced with new, came with a protective oily coating. Many people new to mechanics may not realise they need to clean them. Also, I have a similar comment about not cleaning the hub. I have only ever had it happen once, but it resulted in a warped disc. I couldn't understand how it would do it but a much more seasoned mechanic explained that any irregularity of surface on the mating faces of disc and hub can lead to a warped disc. So, I just clean everything of rust a debris to avoid problems. Again, I really liked the video. Thanks
Those look like fully coated rotors tho. If they’re fully coated no need for brake cleaner as they do not have protective oil. But I agree with you about the hub cleaning. I always clean with a brush!
You definitely do a wonderful job to explain the procedure of replacing brake pads and rotors. However, I didn't hear the part whether you have to turn off the ignition while changing the brakes, or you leave it on throughout the process. Charles Lungu.
I wish you would of shown the complete job. Cleaning and relubricating the slide pins, and cleaning the slide pin bore, cleaning all the rust material off the caliper piston that is surely going to produce a vibration and uneven pressure on the pad, cleaning the brake pad slides (there was SO MUCH crap on there) and cleaning of the hub even though it was fairly clean already. Would of been 10/10 video.
I could not get into the 'Service Menu' to select fitting position. It just would not work. After numerous google searches I found guidance that said you must make sure your doors, hood, and trunk lid are closed. I had my trunk lid open which prevented me from entering the service menu. Once I closed the trunk, all worked as it should. Who knew?!
Great video but can you please answer some questions already asked: 1. Is the ignition left on after you receded the emergency brake actuator? 2. Is brake lube required on the slide pins?
Excellent video! Once you're done with brake job do you reset anything in the maintenance screen and also do you turn off ignition while changing brakes
Just a tip, if possible, try to film these in one take, that way you don't need to sync audio and video for each clip. I don't know if i'm sensitive for audio/video out of sync situations, but that was pretty disturbing to see. Yes i know there will be pauses and stuff, but memory is pretty cheap nowadays, and you will save the effort to sync separate clips.
questions: 1. why cant you retract the piston by spinning it? like most if the japanese cars rear brake. 2. i seen videos before from other platform showing these type of brake disc have different torque sequence for the wheels. like Nm then add degrees. is this true?
This is the third video I watch about changing brakes and third that didn't lube any friction points. I don't know why they skip this step but I'll definitely lube mine with copper grease when I change my brake pads in the near future.
🏌🏾😂😂😂 🙏🏽🙏🏽💪🏽 ok i’m back again 6 months later everything perfect but i have one more Question so each side have to be put into fitting position if doing it at home
Hi, that would be the chassis code for the vehicle. A better explanation can be found in this blog article blog.fcpeuro.com/mercedes-benz-chassis-codes-explained
Hi I'm wondering how do I go to the fitting position because I'm changing my 2015 mercedes benz c300 rear brakes. I changed the one side but accidentally my son pressed the brake paddle and brake caliper piston came out. Right now I cannot release the parking brake even it's not working and I'm getting the message on the screen Parking Brake see operator manual. Can you please help me how do I release my Parking brake and solve the issue. Thank you in advance.
Half ass job ..never lubed the slider pines..never cleaned the brackets were the pads sit...no lube on the back of the pad to avoid squeal.... 5 out of 10 based off a pure clean job...do it once to it right period...this is how normal mechanics to the job and charge full price....

Can you open the door after setting it to maintenance mode?
Yes.@@xmachete-_-7172

at 2:21 he did mention the parking brake , he said make sure your parking brake is not actuated
this is changing your disks and pads on the hurry. clean the wheel hub, lubricate the guide pins, never-seize on the T30 bolt. so much left out.

These instructions worked for my 2019 GLA 300. Thanks
Awesome DIY video! Thank you for providing this tutorial!
i know I'm pretty randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to stream newly released series online ?
@Malcolm Achilles I dunno try Flixportal. You can find it thru google:D -lukas
@Lukas Chris Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it !
@Malcolm Achilles Glad I could help :)
Thanks so much. Your videos are fantastic.
This video was so helpful… Thankyou so much

Keep it up bro...I watch u every time ❤
Thank you for your tutorial! It really helps!

Really good content. Thank you.
Excellent 👍 Short question. You don't have to spin the piston just push it to retract it?
I could not get into the 'Service Menu' to select fitting position. It just would not work. Great video but can you please answer some questions already asked:
1. Is the ignition left on after you receded the emergency brake actuator?
2. Is brake lube required on the slide pins?
second that on the ignition, need to know
No you do not need to leave it on.
Small question: The car should stay in accessory or ignition mode all that time, or we can switch off and finish the procedure after disk replacement?
Some other guy in the comments says you can turn off the car
you should clean it up anyways and put some lube around the hub there for the next time..
If you’re getting the error message that the condition is not fulfilled. Make sure your parking brake is off. Also keep your foot off the brake.
Great note!
By the way we have a 2019 Mercedes C300 Base model. Hope this video applies to our car!
2:52 can you turn the car all the way off or do you have to leave it key on engine off for piston to retract
You can turn the car back off and when you turn back on the vehicle it should still be on that mode
Excellent video! Once you're done with brake job do you reset anything in the maintenance screen and also do you turn off ignition while changing brakes
Top video. Very well done.
Great demo well presented.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video used to change the rear brakes and disc in my w205 c63 ever so slightly different but most of it is the same
Happy to hear this could be somewhat of a guide with that!
Did you not use the brake grease? I just replaced my rotor and brakes all around and have a slight squeal when coming to stop at crawling speed.
Those are torque to yield bolts that had the 45° extra turn?
Hi! Thank's a lot for the video! but...
What is the torque spec for the guide pins?
Do you have to anything to electric brake afterwards?
Awsome video, I spent the cylinder to get it in. Will that mess up something!
Hi Lucky, you should be fine so long as the seal is not damaged. It cannot hurt to go back and inspect everything after driving the vehicle.
@@fcpeuro wow what a fast reponse! Thanks
Just a nit for your editor. In your tools listing millimeters is always abbreviated mm (Lower Case), never MM (upper case).
Do all 4 tires have to be off the ground
Good stuff, Thanks...
doing a 2015 c300, has a manual e brake pedal, is the electronic rear still.a issue?
do you have to do anycar procedure to retract the piston in the front
Hey,will the t30 help with taking off the rear rotor?
WAIT...is it a t30 or t25.....he said the but the list on the side said t25? Nm later in the vid they put t30

I have a 2015 C350 4madic and can't find service mode for rear brakes 😒
I have a 2017 I only use one brake sensor cause all the brake wear evenly I never know that have sensor for the rear
No need for caliper pin lube?
questions:
1. why cant you retract the piston by spinning it? like most if the japanese cars rear brake.
2. i seen videos before from other platform showing these type of brake disc have different torque sequence for the wheels. like Nm then add degrees. is this true?
Torque specs for the slide pins?
Noticed you didn’t apply any brake grease near any of the friction points or even the slide pins.
This is the third video I watch about changing brakes and third that didn't lube any friction points.
I don't know why they skip this step but I'll definitely lube mine with copper grease when I change my brake pads in the near future.
Are the torque specs the same for a 18 c63 s?
Do you have to install a wear sensor on each rear wheel or can you just install one?
you can only install it on one front wheel and one back wheel, (think its passenger side in both cases)
Does the C300 and E300 share the same brake pads and rotors?
Giving away all the secrets again lolz jk.. thanx Kyle The MB Gemstone Deliverer
lifetime warranty on all parts ? meaning?
All the info you need right here Jack - www.fcpeuro.com/page/lifetime-guarantee
when you took old disc off i couldnt see the parking brake shoes why? i could in my old w204
Parking brake is electric it’s attached to the caliper
do both wheels have to be off the ground when doing the brakes fitting positions setting?
You can do it with only one wheel up if you are working at home, doing one side at a time!
🏌🏾😂😂😂 🙏🏽🙏🏽💪🏽 ok i’m back again 6 months later everything perfect but i have one more Question so each side have to be put into fitting position if doing it at home

Glad it was helpful!
😀EXCELLENT WELL EXPLAINED CLEAR INFORMATION

I’m doing mine today
is it a T25 or T30? on the video he says T30 but the list has a T25
Hi J K, that should be a T30, so sorry about that.
@@fcpeuro thank you for the clarification!
I did everything the exact same , and rear brakes are locked up
What is w205 referring too? That’s not the engine is it?

Too bad most can't get serviced by FCP Euro. Even my local authorized/well respected Mercedes shop still isn't trusted by me.
