Not even death can silence her beauty in Song..
Her Essence is here. THANK YOU 4 Sharing/caring
Hello everybody. I am very glad that I recorded the soundtrack of this performance when it was aired in 1967 on the Swedish Television. I could then never imagine what it would lead to. So please enjoy Miriam Makeba in one of her best performances. Greetings from Åke Holm in Sweden
wow thanks very much
Thank You for this privilege.
Thank you very much for helping to give this to the world and to people like me who weren't even born at the time of this performance. It's priceless and beautiful.
Wonderful, thank you!
Thank you
2023,I'm blown away. What a talent. Why isn't this womans voice heard and known more widely?
She was well known and loved in the 1960s, especially for her clicking song. My parents had her record, as well as other wonderful, activist singers like Odetta, Joan Baez, Theodore Bikel, etc. Also, check out the Weavers singing Shalom Chaverin. Also, Malvina Reynolds: the Money Crop, Just a Little Rain, and Ticky Tacky Boxes.
These voices get suppressed
@@frankpeter6851 Sadly, the voice was suppressed for 31 years and denied to be heard by her people by the evil apartheid government. Very sad.
What is this? am I dreaming? This voice, the presence, the charisma, the beauty - undescribable!
LifeInTheMatrix this is true spiritual art, a true depiction of love / ma'at. We're not allow to show real art like this anymore because true art mobilizes the spirit, hence the spirit will strive for justice.
@@SoLNaTaL555 So true. Thank you. ☆

A beautiful woman, a beautiful voice..... real Queen of Africa!
I enjoyed her music during my childhood in my native country Venezuela, as you can see her music made an impact worldwide. She was the voice of her people who struggle for equality and freedom. Nelson Mandela called her the Mother of Africa, and she truly was such a symbol. Love her!
😍

Ake Holm people like you preserved African music and gave us some Historical material to snack 🎉 on. Lots of love from Mokonotela family in Soweto South Africa (Elites Swingsters jazz band).
no nudity. no drugs, no computer-assisted voice etc. Yet immortal music
Miriam Makeba, Mother Africa. What a talent! Beautifully performed with such charisma and professionalism.

Why do these songs make me cry this much every time i listen to them. I have tried over the years to control my emotions but never succeeded. Africas greatest performer that is who she was.

Seductress indeed that Brazilian song is so sexy and beautiful 🥰🥰🎵🎤👑
She's been my absolute favourite right from my childhood days after I heard her Pata Pata album on Vinyl. Still listen to it and am now on quest to find her other recordings and concerts, especially the earlier ones. Regardless of what language she sings, she reaches your soul. Miriam Makeba the voice of Mother Africa Forever...................
big jazz fan from Los Angeles. worked in a jazz club there and made friends with the musicians. intróduced to her music from following Masekela. 1st tíme hearing this. interesting to hear a brazilian bossa nova tune.
This is what we call Greatness
ON MAKEBA
Here music speaks to all hearts, irrespective of tongue, creed or race. Makeba was truly universal. She conveyed our deepest emotions in the language we all feel but can't so richly express.

I must say, that her perfectly curated performance just stirs a plethora of profound emotions within me, so difficult to explain... She's definitely the representation of the mother goddess of creation! Africa, the mother of allll hue-manity, the rest falls short... We'll succeed, we'll conquer all this inhumane madness that has persisted for far too long! Ase Ase Ase O!

Såg henne på Berns två år senare! Och hade förmånen att få träffa henne och maken Stokely Carmichael vid det tillfället. En fantastisk upplevelse!
Wow. How opportune!
Forbidden games is my favourite
wow woooow... awwwwwwwwww shes soooo fantastic so strong .. singing in a blacked down cold and silent salloon with no back up from the audience but swedish as they are sitting silent and watch.. she must have been dead nervous .. but she delivered like a queen anyway !! talk about strenght !
One of the best places was The Village Gate to hear Ms Makeba sing in her native tongues we went there many times sound was great also the Lincoln Center a plus Carnegie Hall those were the days of wine and roses her albums are still sounding like it was just yesterday that they were recorded. Sadly Ms Makeba passed away Nov 2008 at the age of 76 in Italy doing what she loved singing!!
This was a television event. THEY LOVED HER. She was being honored by their silence.
what a voice
Awesome!
I am an old white southern woman, and I recall seeing the beautiful, moving, and talented Miriam Makeba on television a few times decades ago when I was young. She deserved better than the politely appreciative older white audiences she sang her heart out for.
They wanted her on a leash and preferably under wraps. They were too afraid of her politics. This was 1966 before the Voting and Civil Rights Acts were passed.
How Lovely.Continue to rest on in peace mama
Such Raw talent.
Even in her passing I remain captivated to her Voice.
I wish that this had been released a long time ago .
siempre me ha encantado
