@@EricMorettin TY So MN Frine for frets. What would you use for the satin roasted maple fretboard/neck cleaning, if need be? My neck is a bit gunky with buildup, especially the fretboard.
@@emerycomputer I'm sure you can use any regular guitar body spray like the Dunlop 65 orange label. Maple boards (regular or roasted) should be sealed (gloss or satin) so you just need to get some no abrasive liquid on there to break up the gunk and clean it with a rag. Open pore wood like ebony or rosewood are different and you only want to use fingerboard oil there
I feel like taking a shot every time that the word Tremolo is used on the Video… But seriously, good explanation, it helps someone with monkey brains like mine.
Dude, this was very helpful since the details for things like this tend to get overlooked in all other writeups and videos. It looks like the perfect addon to an EVH Wolgang. Bt one question remains, if you engage a EVH DTuna to drop the string tension on the fly does the Tremol-No still provide proper spring tension to keep it all in tune? Seems like the locking of the claw onto the screws would provide that stability. Thanks!
I like 11 gauge strings on my PRS SE. recently, a new set the high E feels tighter than it used to be. I know they are 11 gauges, I have played these before, they are my regular set tbh. Just being clear with context, I can hardly bend a hole step on the high E. My action could have changed when having the strings off maybe?
@@EricMorettin that was it actually. I tried it myself for the first time. Long time player, trying to learn more about the instrument. They feel as loose as they are meant to again for 11 gauge strings. I just prefer 11 gauges. Thick enough for my slide playing as well
It is a bad idea to leave the pickups open when polishing the frets. Put some tape or a towel over them since metal shavings can get into your pickups and ruin them.
great explanation! very clear and nice install. Just as an FYI, you can also do "Dive Only" mode (like EVH) if you lock the outside screw only. Cheers man!
@@EricMorettinI was worried about its durability? Let's say I put it in hardtail mode and use tuners to change to drop turnings/whole step drops. Will this sustain without any issue?
This is the wrong unit for your guitar. The pin version is for non-square blocks. Floyd rose style blocks require the small clamp version. When marking the where your claw is with the tape, marking the back of the claw is incorrect, you want to mark where the actual claws are so that the springs are in the relative same position regardless if the original claw is a different size than the tremol-no claw. Wrapping the ground around the claw and held by the spring is a horrible idea... just strip the wire more, twist the strands and create a hook with the exposed wire then hook it onto the screw and tighten.
Very informative, Eric.
@6:30 I noticed you polished the frets with steel wool and then buffed them with white paste? What is that?
Thanks! The paste is fret polish from Music Nomad's Frine Kit

If you are only using the tremol-no to permanently hard tail the guitar, could you install it using no springs?
I would assume so yes. I'd keep extra springs in just incase I wanna change back.

That would be a fun drinking game. Glad I could help out!

Missed opportunity to use "Tremol-woes".
That's a good one!

@@mishswb4950 the neck might have bowed a bit depending on the truss rod stiffness and weather conditions which all affect the neck.

I'm curious your opinion on Evertune bridges?
They're cool! I've worked on them before and they're fine in that regard. I don't own any guitars with that bridge but maybe one day

What about the Tremmory vs all parts tremol-no ?
Never heard of that one before, so I can't talk about it too much!

Shouldn’t “tremolo” sound with the accent on the first “e” instead of the first “o”? So: trÉmolo
You forgot a mode = dive only.
Tremelo not tremolo...
I figured after the 789309th time u said trumulalow no you would learn to say it properly without struggling so much 🤣
