    Dude, I'm still on strandberg choosing part of the process but I thought about the tremol-no many times. THANK YOU for making this!

    Hi Mathew. I watched this video back in September when I bought my Strandberg Boden NX Fusion.(I have the Fire Red colour). I received a Tremol-No as a Christmas gift and finally installed it today. I expected it to be a bit tricky to install and set up but it was actually very easy. I followed your method of installation (except for the dismantleing of the bridge assembly) and it was easy and fast to install. It took as much time to retune the floating system as it did to install the Tremol-No. I was careful to ensure all parts were at right angles and found that the shaft operated very smoothly without further adjustment. After playing the guitar for a while both in floating and locked down modes, the tremelo was operating flawlessly and so I proceeded to lock down the set screws in the Tremol-No to ensure they would not rattle loose. I am very happy with this unit so far and I am looking forward to the flexibility of playing the guitar in both floating and fixed bridge modes so I can bend strings without detune, change tunings and replace strings much more easily. I do not notice any rattling or tone loss and think there might even be a bit more sustain since I installed this. Thanks for this useful video and for helping me make the decision to buy one of these useful devices. All the Best for the New Year.

    Thanks Mathew! I had been tossing this back and forth in my head since your last video. I think I might give it a go. This video will make the process much easier. Thanks again!

    The hardtailer is a great alternative! If you wanna tune the guitar down and only need the dive only function, that's the tool! And it doesn't affect the trem movement like the Tremol-no might (because of the friction).

      Cool! I'll check it out!

      The ENGL Hardtailer is solid and works well - but you do have to screw it into the body of your guitar inside the trem cavity. That is the compromise with the more solid performance of the Hardtailer.

    Both of my Tremol-no units constantly buzz acoustically whether they're locked down or not. I don't view this as a flaw necessarily because there are two pivot points in the system that cannot have zero play while not affecting your tuning at equilibrium. So, when I want to play for a long time in the locked position, I just wedge a piece of foam between the tremolo block and the side of the cavity, which stops the vibration and actually gives you more volume and sustain than you would have without the Tremol-no.

    thanks for the video! super helpful. unfortunately it's pretty janky for me - other than the vibration that others have reported, I find that no matter how tightly i screw the black screws, it still somehow slides if I push down [pull up] on the bridge :(

      Yeah I don't think it's really meant for force to be applied when locked. I used this one for a while, but recently swapped back to the original claw. Novelty kind of wore out.

    nice video! fyi, after a bit of time depending on your unit, there might start to be vibration in the back from the receiver portion of the tremol no moving a little bit from side to side (at least, there was for me on my strandberg). if you experience that, lubricate the shaft bar with white lithium grease and that should help dampen the vibration

    Helpfull video Mathew, thanks. Which one did you use? Was it the Allparts Tremol-No BP-2005-010?

      Got it from all parts. I don’t remember the model number but it’s the small clamp style.

    When I installed mine, it kept pushing the whole tremolo system to one side (Since the Strandberg bosons have free play for the tremolo on both sides). This would make it insurable since once I unlocked it, the tremolo would be against one side of the body and that changed the whole setup of the strings since the position moved. Is this something they fixed in the new strandbergs? Does anyone else have this issue?

    Hi matt, I recently installed a tremol-no thanks to your video but I can't get it quite right. I've been experiencing really bad tuning issues since I installed it, my strings go out of tune ridiculously easy with any tremolo usage or just normal playing, and all the strings go slightly flat when I lock the tremol-no unit down as well.
    Have you experienced anything like this or do you think I've just done a bad install?

    • @mathew_dale
      @mathew_dale  10 місяців тому

      Yeah that does not sound normal and doesn't reflect my experience with it. Sound like the alignment of the shaft is off and binding and going askew when locked. Try loosening the claw on the trim block, wiggle the hammy bar up and down a bit to get it to seat better, then tighten it back down. There are also a few shims in the kit to go under the claw for leveling purposes and you could need those as well.

      Something to keep in mind is that the black screws for locking down the Tremol-no are on the side of the unit that moves with the bridge. So if your hand is pushing to one side or the other when you lock them, you may be putting yourself out of tune. My advice is to deliberately push straight down on the screw and then simultaneously turn and lock it down - this will engage the rod in the shaft in the neutral position and you should be in tune.

      Small clamp for the strandbergs.

    Thanks, Mathew! It's slightly annoying to tune my Boden NX Tremolo and trying really hard not to accidentally press on the trem unit, so maybe this will help that too. Is yours the "small clamp" version?

    • @mathew_dale
      @mathew_dale  Рік тому

      Yep this is the small clamp style.

    Tremol no is detrimental to tone and performance. It adds the friction of the hinges to the equation and if the hing is loose the locked bridge has movement when you rest your hand on it . It's a seriously compromised idea. I have a box full of them that I have removed for customers.

      Don't want to be this person but... you've got a box full of those, would you mind sending me one then? I'd love to own one and test it myself. In my country, importing a tremol no would actually cost the minimum living wage... these are strange times

      What if you just want to use it to block off the trem?
