Great work bro!!!.... but i believe ur playing C Phrygian in the key of Ab/G#... using the note C as the third degree of the Ab/G# major scale in order to build the Phrygian mode... what are your thoughts??
The Phrygian scale is also good because it shows you all 7 major scales for the 7 different modes. C, Db, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb are the notes of C Phrygian. After C major, C Dorian is Bb major, C Phrygian is Ab major, C Lydian is G major and so on...
Great work...To less complicate things, one can say to think (The key of Aflat). Left hand is Dflat major, Right hand plays the Aflat major scale, then end of Cmajor.
Thats a great way to think about it as well! The C phrygian mode comes from the Ab major scale so C phrygian and Ab Major are the exact same grouping of notes. One other way I like to think about it is by playing a Db Lydian scale over the Db Major chord as well.

I like to try to under complicate playing as much as possible so when you showed us the C phrygian scale, I noticed its the same as an Ab major scale. So now when I want to play it, that is what I will think of instead of trying to remember all of the flats and sharps. Playing can already be difficult, so finding small things like that helps a ton.
