Our DP came with a Glendinning Motorized Power Cord Reel but our power cord is wired in. All our previous RVs were wired in as well. Trying to get the cord back through the opening was a pain. What I like about the power reel is that you can hold a cleaning rag against the cord and clear off mud/dirt as it reels.
Great video BTBRV! One product that you might want to check out is Cord Pro. These are lightweight, durable and easy to use. I have three of them, one for the 30 amp shore power cord, one for the fresh water hose and one for my heavy duty 50' extension cord. They are inexpensive as well! You only let out what you need and there is no tangled mess at the campground. Best Wishes!
So I bought this last year for my 2015 carbon 357TH, and next to the tankless water heater it's my favorite tool! Thanks btbrv!
Great video. Wish they made smaller ones for travel trailers that don’t have the big basements.
Thank you for the video and all your videos. Great idea. I like to clean, roll and store power cord in a tote. Cant justify 170 dollars for this. For 50 I would jump in....Being a diseased workaholic brought me to rv camping as a "vacation". This takes some of that work out of it for me lol.
After I coil mine I throw it in a plastic storage tote. Much cheaper solution and keeps it out of the way and looking nice.
When you start owning many things in life, a real source of satisfaction from all of those items of pleasure is convenient storage that allows advantageous usage for both work and pleasure.
It's a pretty cool reel. Something that you could hard-wire, then pull out what is needed seems a better idea. With my background, I roll all my cables velcro them and store them. An interesting product though. E-trailer has a lot of cool stuff.
Anytime there’s an upgrade or gadget that makes things easier/neater we are all in! Thank you!
My Winnebago 5th wheel had it preinstalled. Love it.
A eazy way to keep the power cord clean is to have a moist cloth in your feeding hand while turning the rolup handle.
I want one that works for a heated water line so I can just drop it down the access hole and string out to the spicket!
Awesome video!! One of those reels is on my wish list for an upgrade this spring.
That takes up about twice the space as just a rolled cord. LOL
Michael Scott right. I’d just throw it in a bag.
@@crutler right, but this is how he makes money, providing links people follow LOL. Link to bag? LOL
Michael Scott: Great speculation, but not true. I get paid nothing to do this review. It’s just something I share because I was going to buy the product and eTrailer offered to provide it for a shoutout. I’ve been wanting this for some time and you would be hard pressed to find anything similar in quality for significantly less.
This may take up more physical space but most of the space is vertical rather than horizontal and much of the vertical space would not be used otherwise. Also, there is easier access to the cord and it is not tangled.
It is kinda expensive for $169, but I see how well it works. :-)
I would not want to get rid of that trailer after all the upgrades you have done
Yeah, thats definitely something I think about
This is awesome! Definitely will be getting one for my fifthwheel. Thx
Might want to clean the cord/dust as you reel it in to prevent carry bugs and other contaminants transferring from one place to another.
I'm really lazy and I'd like to see one designed that would include a little internal motor that would wind up the cord with only pressing an on demand button. This way you could mount it next to either wall without worrying about the handle getting in the way.
I only problem is the Reel In doesn't work in cold weather. My 50 amp cord is like an octopus in colder weather. For $ 169, there are very cheap options.
I like the New into!
Nice!! "Reel" nice..... :-)
Nice video, but how does that take up less space than just the cord? I'm not trying to be negative, i enjoy your videos, just in this video, the solution seems bigger than the problem, but I'm wrong quite a bit..
I is a fair question. The cable generally sits flat and unwinds itself. It also tends to cover or get covered by other stuff. The reel positions it in a more compact way ompy 7.5" wide.
@@BigTruckBigRV Put the cord into a box or tote and you still have options on where to store it.
rondogwil: I use to do that, but then it would get covered up and still required coiling it. I know this isn’t going to be for everyone, bit it’s something I’ve admired on other fifth wheels for some time and really wanted. Don’t just take it from me, ask anyone who uses one of these...read the comments from folks who have it already. It’s a great product.
Great video
Proteng fire extinguisher thing looks very interesting. I just wonder how easily they are accidentally set off?? I will research further. Thanks 👍
I had 2 that prematurely went off. One in a hot toolbox and the other under hood (which caused damage to a sensor)
I need this
I wrote the book on prematurely discharging.......Hey yoooo!
Hoolllly chit. I could make that thing for like $50 with some scrap steel. But I could do that with a lathe and a welding machine. Not everyone has access to that though.
Do they make larger ones? I carry a 50amp ext with me for those messed up sites that I’m bound to find every so often
No kidding! My connection is at the back and the power source at one site was 15ft in front of the rv. I needed 75ft of cable!
And for those of us who have a little less cash to spend I would recommend the CordPro XL . I use one for my 25 ft 30 amp cable and it works great and keeps it neat. It isn’t a full fledged reel but for those of us who don’t need or don’t have the space this fits the bill, check it out BTBRV at cordpro.com
You and I have the same 360IBL fifth wheel. I currently keep a 30 and 50 amp cord in the front storage. You're right that they take up a lot of room and its cumbersome to roll it up into a container (basket) etc... I have been looking at this product and was wondering why you didn't install it under the front storage? Did it not fit or just a personal preference thing?
Looks nifty, but Doesnt the reel take up more space than the cord?
But no tangles on that heavy cord...PRICELESS. not to mention no sliding around the cargo bay.
great video do you know if cranking handle can be put on other side
Is that a stock 50 amp cable? I don't think my 50 amp cable would be able to roll up in the cold weather. I'm thinking, trying to roll it up cold would pull that reel off it's mounting bolts?
So you gotta pull the whole cord out just to plug it in? Cause one end of the cord was in the middle and inaccessable
I was going to make something like this but would like to mount it under my fifth wheel where the plug actually attaches to the trailer. Not sure if it could stand being out in the elements
That might not be a bad idea if it can be accessed without putting your knees on the ground.
Can you do a video or tell me where I can buy those fire extinguisher tubes?
I already made one about 2 weeks ago. Look for thr thumbnail of an RV fire. Called Extang
those screw are going to come loose.
You NEVER want a premature discharge.
Cool
What are your thoughts on the Truma hybrid hot water tank/on demand system? Just ordered my Coachman Chaparral 370 FL and we are thinking about upgrading.
Great system, just sometimes takes a bit to warm up
Big Truck Big RV i’ve seen several reviews but nothing very impressive, would be nice to see one done by you with a little bit of technical experience
Hey did u ever do the update video on the Reese pin box in a 90° position did it do fine without hitting bed rail must need to know and there’s a lot on that video wondering too
Will do that soon. And yes. I can cut a full 45
Seems like a PITA.
I know this is completely unrelated to the video but, could you do a review on the Chevy Suburban RST?
Why not an electric one?
now when you use your cord you have a big box taking up space
The ease of cranking to wind up a cord is nice, but it does not save space. It is screwed down and taking away storage options. If that cord was wound into a box or tote, you can put it anywhere you need it to go and it leaves that storage space open for different things for different trips. I like your videos, but I personally, am not impressed with this item or it's price. Be safe!!
How wide is it with the handle?
Did you just say prematurely discharging? lol
How long of cord will it hold?
30ft
Ok so, what the hell are you talking about in the beginning of the video?
