      @@IAmSoMuchBetterThanYou for £14k it’s no excuse. I think the concept is flawed by the rules it has to abide to in order to be legal, i.e. top speed, power, pedal only assist. A base model Renault Twizy is half the price.

    • @another3997
      @another3997 Рік тому +1

      @@KK-ol5ov I agree to a point, but the Renault Twizzy is made by a huge company with huge resources, with the additional benefit of bulk purchasing etc. Economies of scale play a large part in business. Products like the Twizzy are possible because it already makes money selling other vehicles. Small companies don't usually have these benefits, and limited production runs of niche products are always expensive.

    • @another3997
      @another3997 Рік тому +2

      Why does it matter if you can walk up a really steep hill as fast as you can pedal up it? All cyclists reach such a point eventually. Once on the flat or downhill, with a cycle your speed will be much higher than a pedestrian, offsetting any slowness on hills.

    It is really hard to justify so much money on a single purpose vehicle. At that price, it cost more than 3 used cars. I get that you don't have to ensure it, etc. but those points do not matter when you're not single. If I pay a car price, I want car functionality. • @WellfortheBird
      @WellfortheBird 3 роки тому +2

      Some people would rather have something rain proof for when they can't use their ebike because they are environmentally conscious. Maybe you are wondering what I was wondering because you aren't from UK. A decent ebike could destroy that hill without any effort, so why get this thing that obviously takes a ton of work. As surprised as he seems that it took the hill with him panting all the way up, you gotta realize UK has stupid laws on how powerful an electric bike or skateboard can be. So any electric bike they have will only have the advantage of less weight. Love my electric alternatives. So glad I don't live there. 25kph with pedal assistance is an absurd and overly restrictive restriction.
      Edit- Like there is no point watching any ebike or esk8 videos from UK because their government doesn't trust them with decent power. Ya an ebike can help you get up to 25kph, but then you have to work to go faster. You can go faster. Just pedal. 25kph isn't anywhere in the realm of it becoming as fast as an actual vehicle. It's just bonkers IMO and will turn people away from electric alternatives. If I can only go 25kph to get to work, and still have to pedal some to go that speed, I'll just fucking drive instead. Backwards policy inhibiting progress.

      @@another3997 With an open differential, you can compensate somewhat if you can put a lot of weight on the drive wheels. FWD drive cars are less effected by open diffs compared to RWD. If the vehicle is really light, a limited slip or locking differential is the way to go. I've notice that there are some e-trikes on the market that use a front hub motor, with an open diff in the rear. I've heard many comments about how sketchy these are because of how easily the rear wheels will completely lose traction.

    But you made it look like anyone could do it.

On my feed as I watched the video there was an add for a electric micro car with a lower price, for most no peddling for less money would make the choice pretty easy. They might get some sales from the few, the proud and the slightly crazy (and well off financially) crowd but I fear this isn’t going to go well in the market. Drop 50 kilos and the price by 50% and the future might be bright. Well, that and maybe a restyle, not exactly an E type Jag, is it?

    I saw the prototypes of these being sold off on a website somewhere about six months ago or so for about £2k each - I guess the company folded. Shame, it was a sound idea that'd have appealed to some, but maybe a bit before its time, and far, far too expensive. Also looked ugly! The Frikar Podbike seems to be doing better at least, but I doubt it'll be allowed to be sold in the UK as it is.
    Someone needs to make a practical velomobile priced reasonably at £3k or lower, which uses standard bike/ebike parts that are easily repairable or replaceable, else it's just a rich person's toy with a niche use and less functionality of a normal ebike - Just you don't get wet in the rain and can park it anywhere. Make it able to tow a bike trailer, too - Then it'll actually compete as an alternative travel option.

    Such a strange vehicle!! And that's coming from someone riding electric unicycles primarily 😁
    Pretty cool overview 👍
    After you demonstrated the climbing ability, it's certainly great that it can make it, however fairly slowly in PEV terms despite being wide.
    Although the quality of the Shimano motor, display and batteries is rather high it's also a bit of a missed opportunity to be limited to 250W, and get 2 large, heavy and extremely expensive battery packs for the capacity offered at only 36V.
    I hope they'll be successful in the niche 👍
    It seems to be a good machine to build or maintain fitness with a unique proposition.

      It's limited to 250W so that it can still be legally considered a bicycle in UK as well as in EU.

    This is a good, honest video testing the uphill capability and characteristics of such a vehicle. A non-electric-assisted trike with a good gear ratio in lowest gear can get the same result (and not leave the driver huffing-and-puffing exerted!). The small size of such trikes/quads often enables them to be out of the way (or can more easily get out of the way) of faster, motorized vehicles who one doesn't want to impede going uphill. A totally pedalled trike (or bike or quad) is similar to a lorry/truck going uphill -- slower and needing to take the slow lane. They're very good, however, at evading the Big Oil-dependency and climate destruction of fuel-dependent motorized vehicles.

    Add a radio rear view reversing camera and make the back tail lights flash and act as brake lights and increase the cargo area then I think this could be a winner , I think Clive Sinclair was ahead of the time with the c5 but I think the drycycles time is now , I say that because I’m a fifty four year old who rides an e bike with a travoy trailer but I have used the mrs’s mobility scooter for nipping to town because it’s nippy and if you include waiting times it actually beats the bus , we’ve looked at Enclosed one’s like the cabin car for inclement weather , I wouldn’t use the mobility scooter in the road but I would use a drycycle, if anything will make this fail it’s the price but their hand made , maybe mass production could bring this price down , the designer has obviously put his heart and sole into this so I hope they’re a huge success , they certainly turn heads .
