I disagree, the writing was essentially taking the same gag style stuff that the Schwartz's did in the 60's dress it up a bit with some dramatic themes and a modern tone. However, for any long term viability, it was a predictable failure. However, it probably gave Sherwood and his son a way to keep the original Brady Bunch franchise which was still selling as reruns in syndication relevant to the next generation. The Schwartz's were really good at playing the long game as they have made a family dynasty of taking two so-so-shows that only ran for a few years each and keeping them relevant with several generations for over half a century.
Love the scene at Mike's victory rally when Bobby climbs the stairs on his crutches to congratulate Mike. He gave Carol a "I've got this" look and she backed off when she tried to help him.

The Committee of Concerned Citizens asked you to run Sounds pretty similar to the Council of Conservative Citizens previously known as The White Citizens Council.
I always wonder why Maureen McCormick(Marcia)was not on The Bradys from 1990. The same question as why Susan Olsen(Cindy)was not on A Very Brady Christmas. The Bradys (1990) was not much of a hit.
