Battletech's Wolverine, the poster child for the Nissan 275 XL

In the middle of the 275 Mafia is House Davion's (originally) Wolverine. With a light energy weapon load, good speed and mobility, decent anti-tank capabilities, it serves commanders right. It also has so many variants it gets funny to think about all of them!

Really surprised that there isn't a version that mounts a Plasma Rifle though, that would be an interesting loadout.
That starter Wolverine from the 3E box set was awesome! Very difficult to beat it when comparing playability, c-bill cost, BV, and even PV from Alpha Strike.
Each variant just gets better. But hard to beat the original... And it pits the Clans deep into their emotions 😂
My personal favorite 3025 custom removes all the weapons and installs 2 large lasers and 2 more heat sinks. Scary medium and short range potential
The base 6R sucks because AC5 is a garbage weapon. 6M is an excellent introtech medium
@@Taurox220 I agree that the 6M is amazing. I truly love the 6R though. The AC/5 is bad... But not as bad as it has the reputation for. Personal preference maybe?
The clan version of Voldemort.
Or The Orange Man...
Many mechs, many many many many mechs wish death upon me. Blake, I don't cry no more. Don't look to the lostech no more. Comguards have mercy on me
The consummate cavalry 'mech. Fast, well-armored, well-armed, and extremely easy to meaningfully upgrade.
I honestly love all the 275 Mafia, even the Shadow hawk. But I have a special place in my heart for old X-Man.
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn what the Shadow Hawk lacks in the firepower and mobility that the Wolverine and Griffin have, it makes up for in character. It's an odd little duck, but I still love it.
Catching them fists. It is best in style
It is the best of the original 55 ton cavalry mechs. Griffin's weapon loadout is overly focused on long range and is harmed by BV's cost premiums for range and speed. Shadow hawks are oversinked, under gunned, and lacking in jump jets.
Wolverine's a fast armored brawler
Love the opening sequence. but I didn't really associate The Wolverine with France 🙂.
@@lexington476 Davion design originally, which makes sense with that Autocannon ad a main gun lol
Lbx ac-10, the lords calibre
Another great vid! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
I enjoy all of Professor HeyTeeEn videos 😊
They really are unique and fun!
Thanks! 😃
The most reliable and consistent trooper mech in that medium weight category. It's average for it's speed, but above average in its armor, you can really tell just how much the engineers really wanted to get their knock out weapon going, but at the cost of a lot of weapons variety. It may be a generalist, but flexibility that's debatable, when you see one. You know more or less what you're going to get, for better or for worse.
After our relocation into the Inner Sphere's criminal underworld initially our clan didn't really find much to be impressed about. Except for the fact that these damned machines were freaking everywhere, and (relatively) cheap too. Even off the shelf market rate, you're still getting quality at an affordable rate. And more importantly logistically you don't need to try to source from haft a dozen different fucking states that all have proprietary equipment that won't function outside of their particular "super special" mechs of choice. I swear that if it wasn't for fear of getting caught up in one of the many crazy events that have been going on between the Sphereroid Clans and the Great Houses, we've would have long sense cut off ties back to the home world clans. But ironically enough because the narrative doesn't really involve them unfortunately, their actual security is pretty laced. Hell Goliath Scorpion got their asses handed to them by my boys back home in the Dark Cast pirates.
Wolverines! ....oh wait wrong movie 🙂.
@@lexington476 275s!
Something along those lines, with kids in Wolverines, Griffins and Shadow Hawks.
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEnplus, the old guy in an Archer 😂
WOLVERINES!
If you ever want to know why the Dragon is always so cheap in the used mech market, It is because the Wolverine exists.
The "regular" Dragon really never impressed me, while the GRAND Dragon generally does a good job. Trading Wolverines for Dragons is not a smart move, for sure.
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn The Purple Pigeons sell the Dragons they get from the Combine dirt cheap. Where a Wolverine from the Confederation or Avalon always shows up on the market at MSRP. They are almost the same mech but the Dragon is so unwanted, it's easy for Tauria to get our hands on alot of them. I still requisition a Wolverine every now and again to light a fire under my commanders.
Xl ruined this mech. I generally stick with wolverine 2 for later eras
@@ero9841 XL engines ruin a lot of medium mechs, I also am a much bigger fan of having more survivability rather than a marginal increase in firepower or mobility.
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn same. If your going to run xl you need to be faster more armored and more guns to justify to crippling weakness. I'll give republic 6/9/6 version a try since atleast it uses xl right
