While this is obviously a sales video it does manage to be quite informative as well, thank you for making it (and keeping it up while I imagine it in part did manage to get the car sold quite fast )
Lovely looking car. I remember seeing these 4 door Honda Civics while I was visiting England in September. We have Honda Civics here in the USA, but none like this, a 4 door hatchback.
Class video mate looking at one of these on Monday was very confused about that the gear box this has cleared everything up and put me at ease thank you
Had a manual 1.8 06 for 2 years and loved it - I have just put down a deposit on an ishift mainly because of this review (service history and other credentials are great too though)
Top video, thoroughly enjoyed sitting back and listening. My wife and I have both owned a 2006 Honda Civic saloon's since new in Australia and 10 years later they have never broken down. Have only ever had routine maintenance. I have a honda motorbike, mower & line trimmer and they're all the same - superb design and engineering. This video makes me want to buy another - well done!
Having owned an ishift for 3 days now and covering 400 miles, I must say, the auto part is useless but it is an excellent clutches manual in my opinion..the best way to drive it is combining the paddles with the stick ( being a manual driver for 10 years, I am okay with that) so the stick is good for normal changes and the paddles are good for quick changes. It is as economical and as quick as my old 1.8 manual.
Thanks for your information, I just purchased a 2008 Civic with iShift but it was a close decision to buy a 2009 Automatic model. The lower tax snd better fuel economy won me over. However many say Honda scrapped the iShift due to reliability problems (which I hope is rubbish)
Nicely explained ..! just I have a quick question do you feel any dip feeling (revs goes down and picks up) when gear changing in automatic mode? also when you take the foot from gas will it slows down quickly ?

Hi, could you make a video of only using the paddles on the civic 1.8, such as going though all the gears, revving the car out a bit more and a close up look at the paddle shifters. That would be a really good video. Thanks.
BMC Specialist cars Hi, BMC, I had a UK automatic driving licence my question is am i allowed to drive this i shift in UK? Your answer will be much appreciated. Thanks
Using the paddle shifts is easy but I only tend to do that on a straight road if you use attempt to use them when turning then you tend to find yourself searching the steering wheel for them because as you turn obviously the paddle shift location moves, I agree with the man doing the review that I tend to just change up or down with the gear stick.
Just bought one of these and I love it. Agree with what you've said. Thanks for the further degree of insight. Just wondered about the lack of wiper or spray on rear window...how do you clear it?
Yeah a strange omission by Honda !! They clear with the aero effect at speed... doesn’t help when you are stationary of course and why they fitted them to the next generation civic
Good looking cars inside and outside,BUT the “i-shift” semi automatic gearbox used in these was awful, one of the worst systems ever made. so bad that Honda ditched it altogether and went back to proper automatic transmission in the next Civic model. Also these cars have a very firm ride.
Hi, what settings do you use when you park the car? Do you have to put it in N and engage the handbrake all the time or there is another configuration when is parked? Thank you
I bought one of these which was an ex. I was informed at the time of buying by the salesman to not use the gear shift and just stick to automatic. I am curious if I should change to using the gear shift. Would this be more fuel efficient?
@@tommyzoo thank you for the response. I am driving it in London. My wife is American so only knows automatic. I love the car just wondering if the fuel efficiency is a problem. Seem to be eating fuel at the moment.
Yes this is a good solution but the i-shft actuator is prone to failures - they can be repaired for around £400 which is much less than an auto gearbox repair.
@@clarknicolas6780 it won't go into gear sometimes when it is about to fail. There is a weak point in the design and the UK repair shop eliminate that weak point when they repair it.
Hill starts are fine if you do it exactly as you would with a manual. Just apply handbrake and give it a few revs so you can feel it take up drive and release the handbrake and give it more throttle If you are too tentative then it can judder
Press the brake and it will stop flashing and be in the selected gear,it does this when the car is stopped once you select the gear and press the brake your ready to go.

You don’t have to but it does help smooth out the changes
You get used to it the more you drive the car
I had the same question about to buy one from someone thought it was weird I had to do that.
How many mpg's, on average, do you get when you just use the fully auto mode?
You need to do motorway test so that vehicle noise at motorway speeds can be observed......

I simply don’t have time I’m afraid. I have so many videos to do that I struggle to do what I do now

When you are in automatic do you have to take your foot off the gas and put it back on the gas for it to change gears?
