I'm Korean who lived in Singapore for almost 5 years in my teenager. And It's been about 8 years I left SG. And somehow since 2 years ago this Hokkien Prawn Mee keep reminds me. Because I've never eaten better noodle dish beside Hokkien Prawn Mee in my whole life. I've eaten Japanese,Chinese,Korean Ramens but.. this one is.. the best.
when I was in Singapore, There was a time I ate this almost everyday cos I can't stop. I don't even eat beehon or noodles back to my country. there's another one which is Satay noodles, I really like that
Hi guys! Thanks for the video, we tried it out, but with one crucial difference, I panfry the prawns and squid for 30 seconds to brown, set aside before adding it back to the noodles right at the very end. This prevents overcooking them, especially squid which becomes rubbery when overcooked.
I really miss Singapura, ohhh the food is unparallel.. I worked in SG for 5 yrs 15 yrs ago, i miss so much this hokkien mee, nobody cooks it here in US, i haven't seen a SG resto as well. Thanks for posting. I will try it.
Thank you for the video. Perhaps if the egg was added later, after the noodles - might have been better? And with a stronger flame as well to get some wok hei.
Hi, I lived in Singapore for quiet sometimes and they sell this Hokkien Prawn Mee everywhere. I used to eat this a lot and I miss it so much. Thanks for sharing this amazing recipe! Could you also let me know what's the name of the spicy sauce you added on the plate on the side at the end? I loved the taste of that a lot.

Wow you so real. In the 70s we use to have hawker cooked the same method. And it is very tasty , now we dont get it like this. But now I am a vegan.I will have to do it something like this.
It was done exactly like what you did .I used to go and ta pow home it cost a dollar and it really very tasty. Now I dont find any hawker doing the same way.All short cut. So keep it up.I find all your recipes very well done. But saddly I turn vegan.Thank for being so sincere and honest.
I finally can do this noodles because I have got enough prawn from my friend! Free! Yay! It's so good! OmG! The smell and the taste was awesome just like the traditional one!! It's so good to eat this when I am far away from home :) I don't eat meat (but seafood) so I didn't put pork but it's still good. I wish if you can do more vegetarian dish :) Just one question if u don't mind: What's the difference if I fried the garlic first instead of fried it after the noodles? Thanks :)
How did you prepare the noodles and bee hoon prior to adding them to the wok? Did you soak them in hot/cold water, drain them or used it straight off the packet? thanks!
Hi, can i ask these ingredients can make for how many people to eat? And do you have the name of the noodle in chinese cause i am in Taiwan now and i want to make hokkien mee but I don't know what type of noodle is this. Thank you
Hi I checked your website for the recipe and so sorry but how many people can it serve for the recipe given? And am I able to buy the pre made carrot cake from outside and where can I get it? Thank you and sorry for the number of questions
I would rather put in raw prawns n squid together with noodles n broth to make everything fresher n more succulent. This last minute step would make Hokkien mee dish more fragrant n tastier.

Hi.. do I need to boil & cook the yellow noodles before frying it?
Wow you so real. In the 70s we use to have hawker cooked the same method. And it is very tasty , now we dont get it like this. But now I am a vegan.I will have to do it something like this.
+zhang chen we are happy to hear that, we try our best to find out how the hawker food are done in the earlier days!
It was done exactly like what you did .I used to go and ta pow home it cost a dollar and it really very tasty. Now I dont find any hawker doing the same way.All short cut. So keep it up.I find all your recipes very well done. But saddly I turn vegan.Thank for being so sincere and honest.
Can I switch the pork for something else?
+Shah Mohamed yup you can switch the pork bones, with chicken bones for the stock and also replace the porkbelly with chicken or do without.
Can I know wad wok u r using. Any link?
Hi, can you give the recipe how to make the hokkien mee sambal?
怪不得好吃 原来这么多步骤!

we stir fried the egg before adding the noodles, so if you add the garlic before that then they will end up being inside the eggs.
theMEATMENsg oh right! Thx so much :)
Icy.. do not make me feel hungry.
How did you prepare the noodles and bee hoon prior to adding them to the wok? Did you soak them in hot/cold water, drain them or used it straight off the packet?
thanks!
we use them straight of the packet
Hi can the pork replace with slice beef? Thank you.
Weird flavour ew
Hey Ayu! Hmm, you can try chicken instead? Beef has a gamier taste that might not get you the flavours of Hokkien mee
Droolling over all your cooking, how come no Laksa?
+Lim Yvonne here you go: ua-cam.com/video/FATVkrj2lMI/v-deo.html
I am here again. Sg55 today. So only today I discover your channel. But I subscribed laio. You are good. I go old airport eat..
Tell me the name of red paste
New sub. Fr. THE Philippines👍
This looks AMAZING!
Does the prawn shell needs to be wash with salt water in preparation for the stock ? Or just rinse and fry it ?
just rinse and fry it
You shoulnd use this kind of ladle for your non stick pan
What happened to the ingredients that made the seafood stock? pork bones, prawn shells etc
+xiaocurrypuff the prawn shells and pork bones are discarded
May I know the reason to poach the pork in boiling water with ginger slices instead of the boiling broth?
+Teckheng Lee it's to remove the blood from the pork
Hi guys great video. any chance you have the recipe for the chilli sambal accompaniment? 😊

Hi, can i ask these ingredients can make for how many people to eat? And do you have the name of the noodle in chinese cause i am in Taiwan now and i want to make hokkien mee but I don't know what type of noodle is this. Thank you
in SG they call it Cooked Mee (熟面) or fresh egg noodles, they are round noodles that's yellow in color almost half the thickness of udon noodles.
Hi what if cant get prawns shell n head any others to substitute the flavour/Pls advise
you can use clams in place also
Hi can I ask, this reciepe is can make for how many people? Thank you.
about 5
Hi I checked your website for the recipe and so sorry but how many people can it serve for the recipe given? And am I able to buy the pre made carrot cake from outside and where can I get it? Thank you and sorry for the number of questions
for the prawn noodles the recipe is good for 4, and yes you can get pre-made carrot cake from most supermarket in Singapore
Thank you so much
I would rather put in raw prawns n squid together with noodles n broth to make everything fresher n more succulent. This last minute step would make Hokkien mee dish more fragrant n tastier.
So Good
Miss this food😭
Don't have to miss it anymore! Time to cook it yourself :)
making me so hungry :P i want now hahahaaa
I really love this dishes, but it is seldom sold in msia
Looks great! I respect people that serve hokkien me without the shells/head/whiskers of the prawn which makes it really unappetizing to me.

you guys do a great job.... i enjoy your channel !
Professional !
Thank you!
traditionally, no sambal chilli is served; only lime and freshly cut red chillies.
i recalled sambal chill was served with hokkien mee by SG street stall when i was kid in the 70's
Oh me oh my 😱🤤
Wow, so many steps! It is probably too complicated for home cooking... ;-(
If you open a restaurant, I'll patron you!
Wah!! Hoh liao lor!!
These days half the ingredients are missing or just omitted.
wo men bu yi yang!
I love this dry version of Hokkien Mee! Wet version is too soggy!
Didnt state where the hell its selling at
This one is home cooked... Stall owners normally prepare much larger portion at one go. Most hawker Centers will have a stall selling this dish.
Please zoom in more, i cant get a good look of the atoms in the prawn
LOOKS NICE,HAHAH
Bruh, how is it hokkien prawn mee without the broth?
Edit: Sorry, I'm from Penang, didn't know the Singaporean-style hokkien mee is stir fried
If we say Hokkien mee means its stir fried. If we call it Prawn mee means the type, which can be with or without broth.
I think you shouldn't add fish cake cos I never came across this dish have it.
这是大马菜吧?~福建移民带过去改良的~~~焖面
新加坡版
大马的福建面炒黒酱油的。没用肉骨虾汤炒的。
在马来西亚都找没有这个食物 只有新加坡 才有非常好吃👍
WTF on 2:06, using a Steel hot pot soup spoon to stir-fry on a non sticky pan? What the heck is he thinking?

Looked kind of dry. Hokkien prawn noodles should be with some gravy.
whyd my dumbass think she was gonna cook the noodles with the prawn heads lmao
No need distracting music
