When I was 18, I became an exchange student for a year with a family in the US. They had a Siamese cat I became very friendly with. When I left at the end of that year, we stayed in contact, and my foster Mom would write that the cat spent weeks on my bed in my former bedroom, kind of waiting for me. About 5 years later, I went back to visit. The cat jumped on my lap immediately and spent the few nights I stayed there sleeping on my bed. So, after 5 years, she still hadn't forgotten me. And I wasn't even the one feeding her when I was with my foster family. I just had that special bond with her.
It's incredible how deeply cats can remember and cherish their bonds. Your special connection with the cat truly speaks volumes about the bond you shared. Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming memory! 😺💖
I was in hospital for 4 weeks and my cat was so happy when I finally got home. She wouldn't leave me and wouldn't stop rubbing her face over mine. We'd really missed each other.
Years ago I used to petsit my friends cat. I would stay in her home so the cat's, routine was not disturbed. He very soon learned to recognise & remember me & knew whet time I got back from work. As I walked up the road I would see him sitting on the garden wall waiting for me. As soon as he, saw me he'd jump down and run to meet me then walk back to the house with me.

I have a very painful condition, with tumors on my spinal cord. When the pain becomes bad enough that all I want to do is lie down my cat comes to me to offer what I call emergency cuddles. She curls up directly over my heart, somehow makes herself weigh more than her 9 pounds, and purrs as hard as she possibly can. Within minutes I am starting to feel a bit better. It’s absolutely amazing. Other times, if I’m just being lazy of a morning and having my coffee in bed, she comes and noses her way under the covers, lying along my legs, becoming my adored cave lion. Years ago I stayed at a friend’s house for a few months. During that time, she went on a month’s vacation, and I took care of her two feral cats who were terrified of almost everyone. I'm so sorry to hear about Lunu. Cats can sometimes wander off, especially if they’re feeling adventurous. It's clear you gave him so much love and care. I hope he finds his way back to you soon. Don’t lose hope. 💕
Great question! Mother cats and kittens can remember each other for years, often recognizing each other by scent and behavior. Their bond can remain strong, though it might feel more like a friendship as they grow older ❤ So yes, the bond will turn into friendship as years goes by 😻🐱!
My cat hates me-when I come home-she's never greats me-she thinks I'm stupid-she's waaay above me-her level of pride levels Satan. Yeah-het name is Daisy-I don't think she knows her name. We can't stand each other-but yet-we cuddle every night-not much-because we hate each other-dog people would never understand.
Sounds like Daisy has her own unique way of showing affection! Cats can be mysterious creatures, but those cuddles every night must mean there's a soft spot somewhere deep down. 😄🐾
You never did tell us how long they remember us. Once when I was away for a couple of weeks my cat completely shunned me for almost a month. Then one day out of nowhere things went back to normal and she couldn't get enough of me. I guess she thought I'd learned my lesson.
Cats can remember their owners for years and they may ignore their owners or avoid them for some time after returning from a trip as a way of showing displeasure. Your cat's behavior after your trip is a classic example of how they show their feelings and readjust to your presence. It's amazing how they communicate their thoughts, right? 😸
How did you create a video titled, "How Long Cats Remember?" and talk for four minutes without ONCE addressing how long cats remember ? Just more cat video BS.

My cat doesnt reset her clock at daylight savings time and tries to get me to feed her an hour early.
Haha, cats are the true masters of time! Guess she didn't get the memo about daylight savings. 😸🕒🍽️
my cat knows the V word so in can't speak that word when it's near time to take her there. She runs and hides. i have to spell the name because she doesn't know the word if i spell it out loud.
Haha, that's hilarious! Spelling it out is a genius trick! 😹
But some of his videos show when he's riding in the car he does relax and he'll sit on the center console and be okay but it takes a while
Yes lot people say the cats know our pain they take it away
Absolutely! Cats have an amazing ability to sense our emotions and offer comfort. Their empathy is one of the many reasons we love them so much! 🐱❤
Yes, but how long cats remember Owners?
Cats have remarkable memories and can remember their owners for years!
Our cat who has many videos he's searched by most hugged cat in the world that's what we call him most hug cat in the world he doesn't fit a lot of those but sometimes he's a brat and sometimes he's good but he does greet everybody when we're outside somewhere
That's so sweet! Your cat sounds like quite the character. It's wonderful how he greets everyone and has his moments of being the most hugged cat in the world. Thanks for sharing! 😸💕
I sprayed my cat ONCE with the sink sprayer and he never forgot.
I spray the sink out and he runs like the wind into another room
Oh wow, cats and their memories! Guess he's not taking any chances! 😹 Hopefully, he has forgiven you by now! 😄🐱
Our cat is definitely the mistress of the house
And she’s the boss of me
Thing is 🤦🏻♂️I let her boss me about
Sounds like your cat has you wrapped around her paw! 😄 They really know how to take charge, don't they? 😸
The video never answers the question from the title 😡
Thanks for your feedback! Cats can remember their owners for years especially if you’re their favorite human (aka the one with the treats)😅 They use their super sniffer and sharp eyes to recognize us. I'll make sure to be more direct next time. Thanks for watching ❤ and give your kitty some extra love from me 😸!
so how long?????
I adopted a kitten he was nearly dying from cold I named him lunu he is very naughty and playing with me most of the time in my house which is open he went outside with other cats after 8 month when I was not at home for several days I don't know where he gone😢 my inlaws feed him in my absence but suddenly he disappeared I am much worried what happen with him?i thought may be he miss me and angry with me that's why leave the house😢...this thought is much painfull for me I don't forget him😢
I'm so sorry to hear about Lunu. Cats can sometimes wander off, especially if they’re feeling adventurous. It's clear you gave him so much love and care. I hope he finds his way back to you soon. Don’t lose hope. 💕
@@FurrPurrUniverse thanks alot for your kind comment🤗...yeah I hope that one day he will come back to me😀...I am waiting for that day🤗...
Do mother cats and kittens remember their relationship years later or just remember they are friends?
Great question! Mother cats and kittens can remember each other for years, often recognizing each other by scent and behavior. Their bond can remain strong, though it might feel more like a friendship as they grow older ❤ So yes, the bond will turn into friendship as years goes by 😻🐱!
How are cats memory even after 5 years of riding in the car he still meows every time we get in the car
But how long do cats remember? Where's the science and studies? Misleading title. This is just home-spun nonsense.
I appreciate your feedback. I’ll make sure to be more specific and try to include some scientific studies in future videos to provide clearer answers.
I can't listen to AI voices.
Thanks for the detailed video 😊 but no mention of "how long?" how long will the call will remember me? 🥲
