Wooting has 4year warranty, good Software, good Support (not at the moment due to 80HE release). They are also the only ones with north facing leds AND one of the few companies who support ISO-DE layouts. Thats the reason for me why no other company can reach Wooting level

For anyone wondering about sound. I noticed that changing stock springs to 70g springs brought me closer to that Cherry MX Black feel that I so desire, ofc without scratch but yeah.
Springs are quite cheap and easy to change for this type of switches as you will not need to solder nor can you bend pins or dmg the PCB.
Lubing the spring and the stem also helped me. I Had Lekker v1 and turned them to Lekker v3 by adding a switch film made out of silicone to reduce stem wobble and making the sound deeper.

One massive thing for Wooting is that it's based in EU, so 210eu is 210eu, all other keyboards are US only, which means for the same 210, you're probably paying 280-300 in the EU (add shipping, custom fees and multiply all of that by 1.21 for taxes)
With these prices, woothing has borderline no competition in EU

    • @MaskedOG

Not true, you can buy a lot of HE keyboards for way cheaper. The only thing is that Wooting has basicly every Layout. while others dont.

The latency at some point becomes completely irrelevant to me. I'm still rocking my custom 60HE and I think nothing can beat it until some crazy new tech comes out but last time that was the case was the whole hall effect switches.
If you plan on never modding your keyboard then there's probably better feeling and sounding options compared to Wooting.
Note that Wooting has the best software and warranty by far though. I can't stress the software support enough. A custom Wooting is absolutely endgame but also the most expensive.
I really want to hammer in the fact that no one should buy a keyboard for the latency aspect. Save up your money and buy a better monitor instead where you'll actually notice the performance difference. Buy keyboards for build quality, sound, feel, software and modding capabilities if you care about it.

The Wooting implementation is still the best. The Case,Price and type feel isn´t. Habing the Pulsar PCMK2 HE provides a way better typing experience. What Wooting has, and it caan´t be undersestimated is a Layout for basicly every Language. Also Auto Calibration is absolutely amazing. I bet the competition will eventually catch up but then they will bring out the WL Versions. I hope they use encryption because no one in the HE space does atm.

  • @Aexeq
    @Aexeq Місяць тому

8k polling is stupid. You could maybe argue 2k, as it's still light enough on your PC, but people have already found 4k und up polling to negatively impact game performance, basically negating any advantage the lower latencies of peripherals have. Instead you get higher game latencies, which not only impact one of your peripherals, but instead pull everything down. 8k polling is just marketing fluff.
What really matters is reliability (some peripherals have some issues with holding their polling rate consistently), ease of tuning/configuring and maybe warranty. I'd also like to see more companies go for more layouts seen in custom keyboards and a daughterboard to fit HE pcbs into some of those awesome custom keebs.
This is all without talking about sound and feel or even layout options. I use split backspace. This means there's not a single HE keyboard catering to my preference. I also like very clean and saturated sounding higher pitched boards. HE always sounds hollow or uses loads of foam. It's quite unfortunate, since the main culprit of this "bad" sound is the current switch construction.

the difference between 8k and 1k polling rate is completely useless for 99.99 % percent of players. The latency is not coming from the polling rate too btw. The 60he for example has 1k polling rate too and is much faster than the keychron. If you want a budget wooting Id say buy a drunkdeer. If you're looking for that premium feel, you gotta save up more money I guess because aluminum or any metal casing are insanely expensive.

Well before we talk about latency lets make sure it has the basics covered.
    1. I only buy full sized keyboards so do all of them come in full size?
    2. Besides being wired do they have a wireless option for a dongle?
    3. Can a dongle actually be purchased if lost? Companies like Razer don't sell them.
    3. Do the keyboards also handle bluetooth? I want to use it on my phone, my tablet, and perhaps my wife's phone and tablet. So ideally 4 BT connections but two will do.
    4. Battery life? I want to use rechargeable 18650 cells with nipples on them. (No spot welding!) With a few 18650 cells the keyboard should last for years but certainly months.
These are the basics I expect before I worry about latency, roll-over, optical, mechanical, etc..

Who really cares at less than 4ms anyways. I would say that the closest competition with Wooting is really the Melgeek's Made series. They have 68s and 84 and they are all 8k with software that is basically the same as Wooting including the ability to configure it from a browser. The Ultra versions are also forged carbon fiber which is kind of cool. Melgeek is also at least somewhat known in the keyboard community too. It's not just some pop up selling their first kb to gamers

One important fact missing from this review is that keychron's firmware is open source, a fork of QMK(though they do have plans of merging upstream at some point). So you can program whatever behaviour and RGB effects on it you can come up with if you have basic coding skills. Also they are promising per key RGB configuration in their web app soon, though of course you shouldn't buy a product based on promised future features.
