- We gave away a log splitter in video #137, but we’re adding a new log splitter to our firewood operation today! @@hardworkingmanoutdoors I converted the SuperSplit to a 1hp electric motor twelve years ago. Easy mod with no drop in performance. Also very quiet. BTW Your Kenetic seems to run faster than mine. Wicked fast, in fact. Like hand loading ammo. NEVER allow any distractions. You don"t get second chances. Shalom/gw

I was hoping for a super split. It’s still nice someone showcasing other types of splitters available out there for the common working man. Try tightening that belt a little bit it seems to slip a little to easy for that ash round

Todd, I think we fooled a lot of people. I’d much rather have an Axis but this will be fun to try out while the hunt continues. We had a lot of fun with this though. Hopefully the let down isn’t too bad lol.

Heath, I have the same problem with my back getting sore bending over. I use my tractor to lift the tote or loader bucket up to the height of the splitter to mitigate fatigue. Thanks for the honest review

Dang I was hoping for an axis for ya bud. an holy crap them are long forks they must be 6 ft long
We may have been slightly misleading lol. Still on the hunt for an Axis! Love to add a vertical splitter to the arsenal. How’s your new rig panning out? That thing is FAST. The forks are 6’ and 8’. I’d like 2 at 6’ so I can see them from the tractor seat but got a great deal on these and the 8’ works great for moving sheds etc as a side hustle.
The rebuilt splitter is going strong is actually fun to split with that thing now. I tell people it’s like driving a old hot rod lol
Dude I have a “40 ton” kinetic splitter super fast and productive. I can tell you first hand accidents happen fast with them. Easy to get into a care free rhythm with them. Don’t let your guard down. 👍🏻

I think of it as "pieces that pass the wife test"... I used to split fairly large for our wood furnace, but since I started making wood to sell, now it has to be able to be picked up by a lady with one hand to be put into a fireplace/pit, etc. If she can't pick up the piece with 1 hand, it's too big.

I’ve seen guys add bigger flywheels or in some cases a whole extra flywheel. Not sure if it’s worth the effort but it will sure increase the power. Have to make sure if you add another flywheel that it’s balanced
Also you can slide a longer pipe if pvc over the engagement handle and give you better leverage. Then wrap the pvc in foam so it takes up some of the shock when it doesn’t engage well. It will save your elbow.
Thanks for the tips Brian, we will just use it as os for a re split machine but I will do some other videos with it just in case someone is looking at buying one. We try to put out as much content as we can to help others.
That thing is fast! Perfect for re-splits to get clean, small pieces. Using a 6 way wedge will give you smaller splits but it creates a lot of waste.
It is fast but not smooth or powerful. Will work great for the re splitting of campfire wood though. Saving some time and wear and tear on the more expensive splitters. Probably save a little fuel as well.
Hello Heath and Rachel, nice splitter, we like ours for bundles, they have a speed advantage, but struggle in knotty wood🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸

Next time you'll have to wear Rachels pants. I do like Chris's ultra best with extra hands to keep machines fed.
I need to do some squats and hip thrusters first lol. The Ultra is a fast smooth machine for sure! Add a table to it and you’ll really crank out the wood with a few guys.
If you want a kinetic it’s gotta be a Super Split!

Mathew, I agree the Super Split is the gold standard for kinetic splitters. But we had a chance to run this Power King and see what it can do. Definitely have to pay attention while running it!
Holy crap that thing is fast!! I've seen lots of SuperSplit kinetic spliter videos, and that machine looks like it's twice as fast as a SuperSplit. Watch your hands and fingers!!
I think I would weld some expanded steel onto the face of the pusher, to help keep those special rounds from flying out and getting you in the canards...
It is fast, I had an idea to try to stop the flyers but that may work as well. I’ll try a few things as we use it.
Congratulations! I have the same one it was the first "splitter" I got. It's no good for splitting logs. But since I first bought presplit wood, it's great as a resplitter.
For kinetic splitters, the measurement is in the size of the fly wheel. I believe that size is 50#? The bigger one is 75# and can split logs much easier.

I've had a SuperSplit for 50 years. I bought an Eastonmade 12-22 two years ago. Short of a processor, I think you're set up great. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. You do run Husqvarnas, don't you? ;-)) Shalom/3gw

Have you checked the belt tension on your kinetic splitter. Maybe some belt dressing would also give it a little more push. I thought it should burn thru that Ash round pretty easy. Wonder how the kinetic splitter would work in combination with your Samurai saw. I'm not sure I would leave my wife run that thing though...once you pull the lever there's no stopping. Steve in PA.
Steve, I’ll check and dress the belt. Thinking it may pair up nicely with the Samurai and then you’ll have flush end cuts too. I don’t think Rachel has any plans to run this one!
Joe on Ohio Woodburner has a SuperSplit, and you can hear it load the engine on a tougher split... this one just keeps going with what sounds like no effort. I think @stevekeller9492 is right, something is slipping, either the centrifugal clutch or the belt.

Hey Heath, I have a 42 ton Power King and it will go through most rounds as long as they don’t have massive knots or big crotches. The safety fell off my splitter and I never replaced and it’s easier and faster to use. Be careful, my splitter will kick the handle back occasionally and absolutely stuns my hand when it kicks back. I have learned to pull up the handle and therefore if the handle kicks back, it just slips out of my hand and doesn’t pound my palm. I have learned to use plenty of white lithium spray grease on the pinion and ram so it is less likely to damage these parts due to a lot of wear and tear. It’s definitely doesn’t have the power of a hydraulic splitter, but is very fast. The 42 ton definitely has more splitting power than the model you have and can probably handle 90-95% of anything I split. Love your videos and have a blessed day!!

I had a DR kinetic splitter and took a few logs to the face. The splits can fly and be unpredictable that's for sure. I ended up selling it and bought an ultra which is the best of both worlds!
Nick, I agree and loved when I ran the Ultra at Joes premium firewood. It was smooth, fast, and powerful.
Very nice choice kinetic splitters are the future. Try a pulp hook when working with a disengaged saftey. Saves your hands and production is way quicker than it already is. I absolutely love ny kenetic splitter....ohhh and smaller rounds and limb wood are worth cutting now for me for bundled wood so way less waste also

Hi guys, in watching the video I have two ideas. Try a little lube on the rail, it might help on some of the tougher splits.Maybe weld a guard to protect you from wood flying off the shelf. Stay safe,enjoy your videos

The only thing missing for this fast machine is hockey gear, one piece flew too high lol, it's fast stay safe no joke.
It had a short lived life in our Woodyard
With a bit of tweaking that would make a very nice machine for your resplits. To run the splitter to it's potential you'll almost have to split directly into a bucket or maybe via on oversized discharge table inclined into a tote. A table similar to the allwood one would get the wood onto the splitter with greater speed and less effort.
Alan, I have a small livestock loader I am going to try to turn into an Ibc tote filler. We will see if it works out. May have to see if I can get this machine high enough for the All Wood table too.
you have good points on the Splitters, if there is a Splitter you would trade in or sell would it be the 12-22 for the the Eastonmade Axis which is perfect for working on you own and it has a Conveyor and a Log Lift its perfect for tree service wood, have a nice day Heath and Rachel,
Ebele, the 12-22 and the Axis were two of my finalists when splitter shopping initially. To be honest I’m still undecided which one would fit my needs the best, I’d love to have both!
I wish icould afford a splitter it would make it easier on me cause I saw it up ansplit it by hand then I give the wood for free to families that need it so if u could see it in your heart to help feller out with one I would appreciate it so would God because I pray for one.ethan

Heath I have a 40 ton DK brand that I purchased thru Home Depot. It appears to have about double the force that yours demonstrates. It needs to be taller. My back get sore running it. I plan to keep mine for re-splits when my 12-22 arrives.
Bill, agreed on the working height. Your DK should compliment your 12-22 perfectly! The Rastonmade will take your processing to a whole new level!
It looks like a good ax/maul would resplit pieces every bit as nice since that one isn't putting out much power!
Power wise yes, speed and endurance wise is where you’d struggle to keep up with an axe/maul.
You will have to remember NOT to keep your Hand on the Log ! Very Fast and I think only one person should run it.

You should move your splitter over to where the hitch is just outside the corner of the empty tote. That way you’ll have full access to the opening, and you won’t be leaning over the hitch.

I do have a few pecan trees in my yard but won’t be cutting them up unless they die. Not many pecan trees here.

Time is money. Re-split is a waste of time. Would it be better to upgrade the Eastonman so that you can use the box wedge with a pull-back arm? By eliminating the double handling, It would not take that long to recoup the cost with the time savings
We have an Eastonmade 12-22 with box wedge, 6 way, and 4 way. We also have an All Wood with a 4 way, 6 way, and 8 way. We just like showing different options, ways of doing things because not everyone has access to the same equipment. Always trying new things to see how they work. Appreciate the feedback. It’s listed as a 3 second cycle. Definitely shines for re splitting.

I would cut that hitch off and put a sleeve on there and then you could slide that hits back in that sleeve and put a pin through it and you wouldn't have that hitch sticking out the front

That hitch not coming off would be a PITA...but it is super fast. It would be interesting to put this against a super split.
James, yeah the hitch is definitely going to leave some marks on the shins! I think a Super Split would outperform this unit but I’ve never run one in person. I’d love to do a Kinetic Splitter Wars.
Super split blow These power kings out of the water. DR rapid fires aren't to bad, but the super splits are probably the best you can get when it comes to kenetic splitters.
Travis I have not run a Super Split but from everything I’ve seen on them I’d have to agree they are the gold standard.

Donald, I needed the longer forks so I could see them from the tractor seat. Really only need 6 footers but I bought these cheap on marketplace and it came as a 6’ and an 8’. I was going to cut the 8’ down but it’s great for moving sheds etc. still hunting for another class 3 6’ fork.

Ive got a kinetic splitter, it's rated at 8 ton which seems very similar to yours power wise, but your wood is longer so probably doesn't get as much momentum as mine
That could be, I’m still learning how the kinetic units operate.
Ive got video's up on UA-cam of me splitting some serious wood with mine but it does have limitations
I’ve seen a few kinetics split some larger wood for sure. I’ll check them out.
A 6 way might be faster but If you are going to re split everything so small why not just use a eastonmade axis, split force and or a box wedge since you are doing double the wood.
I bet you if you just used one of those machines it would be faster then double splitting
I’m on the hunt for a vertical machine. We try to run a bit of everything to show different ways etc. I’d like one of the pizza wood box wedges for the Eastonmade but just have the standard size for now.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors box wedges are great but you get what you put into it, if u put notty nasty stuff u get crap pieces check out, if you get the wood for free it doesn’t matter, if u get nasty wood with a vertical you can still make good quality stuff, i was stuck in the same spot as you. Do you get a machine that powers through wood and then you are forced to double split and have a ton of garbage or split once

No reason to be bending over in that tote when you have the tractor to raise it to a comfortable height.

Heath, My opinion is I could split that faster with an ax . I wouldn't own that spliter. If I want a spliter , I want a spliter that does pin oak, hog hickory ,and twisted white elm...not one that stumbles on pin cuts..lol..sorry . Just my take on that splitter
LOL, you'd be busier than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest to keep up with that kinetic machine using your axe. It would be fun to watch though!! I think the race would be over in about 9 minutes and 23 seconds.
Robert, it definitely would not be my choice as a splitter if it’s all I had! We’ll see how it works out for re splitting, I think it would still outperform an axe in speed and back savings as with the axe you’d spend too much time standing pieces on end to get the smaller splits. The lack of power is definitely concerning though.

Heath , nothing against your favorite splitter. This is just how I see it.. If I had a business like yours..I think you'd make alot more money 💰 with the eastonmade axis upright splitter.. you could make splits for these tiny portable stoves for camping , charcoal wood, and normal firewood splitting.. now for speed I'd take your splitter all day long brother! But as far as more money I think the eastonmade would be a wise investment. Sorry Rachel! Lol.. 🤦
Those little camp stoves are popping up everywhere here in Idaho. Travelers always asking if anybody around town makes wood for them. And also wood charcoal is getting popular too ! Just think it's a good business to get in ! More $$$$ per cord of wood 🤷
@RobertHostetter I agree and Axis would be an amazing addition! I finally got to run one in person last weekend for premium splits it’s the way to go. Working on getting into the smaller wood business now. Also funny you mentioned charcoal as that’s on my to do list also!
These splitters are designed to seize up, it saves the motor. Better to pull the lever twice on a log rather then break the machine.

Their is something wrong with your new splitter, you need to take it apart and see what is wrong with it.. that thing is not putting the normal power those have. Maybe your belts need replacing or adjusting . They work way better then yours does
I am going to look into it when I get a chance. This unit is basically new and has very little use on it.
