    Which was your favorite waterfall of the bunch?

      Kent falls by far the best. It must have nearly ten separate falls and couple great swimming holes

      I’ve been to Kent Falls a handful of times and I had a feeling it would fall into number one. I was surprised to see Buttermilk falls on here because very little people know about that one in Connecticut. Since you were in the town of Sharon I wanted to mention actor Kevin Bacon lives in that area and he walks his dogs around there and Macedonia Park trails. There is one waterfall you missed but….. it’s not really impressive so I’m not sure if it would count but it’s located In Burlington Connecticut in Sessions Woods Trail. The trail can be dangerous because there tends to be Black Bears that wander around there. There is a lovely view of a pond and a tower you can go up and see many valleys. There are so many stone towers here as well. Some well known and others less. Most notable is castle Craig at the top of Hubbard Park it’s not a short walk nor easy one but you can drive up there. I believe we have about 6 of them.

    You should also check out Greyville falls in Hebron. if you access it Via airline trail you go over Judd brook wich has a big cascade that goes under the trail then about another 1/2 mile down the trail you’ll get to greyville falls. I go there all the time and it’s really nice

      Glad to be back! Yes it would have looked quite a bit different back then. But that’s Connecticut for you, quite a built up state with a lot of the rivers and waterways being put to work by all the towns especially back in the early and post colonial days of New England.

    Nice video. There is also Westridge in Middletown, CT which you can see from Interstate 91 North. There is a small parking area which you can walk down about two tenths of a mile to see. Session Woods in Burlington has a small one that you can get close to that rages when it rains. There is another in Simsbury near a residential neighborhood that doesn't get much flow unless it rains. It's on the way up/down to a ridge hike.

      @@AdamHoyt , the one in Middletown is called Westfield Falls and the small parking area is off Miner Street. In the winter when there are no leaves, you can see it from I-91 as it was mentioned (off Exit 20, Country Club Road)

    The double fan tailed one I thought the best. I was going to say the raging one but in a way it is artificial in its power as it is only when the sluce gates open. But they were all well worth a watch. Thanks Adam.

    • @AdamHoyt
      @AdamHoyt  2 роки тому +1

      That one was rather good! I think I liked how great the lighting was for when I visited it as well! As near as I could figure out great falls would have always looked like or close to that before the dam and thats actually it’s more natural look. As it’s a power dam and not a reservoir. So the disappointment would only be if you caught it at a time it wasn’t in its more natural glory!

    That was a great video; informative,good descriptions of each waterfall, and all in all - enjoyable to watch. Would love to see your version of NH and Maine’s best! Moxie and Screw Auger out in ME (some of the best), and NH’s Cascade/Basin Trail (easiest to access), is a wonderful spot with a lot of deep pools; only taking a 1/2 mile walk up to reach Kinsmans Falls. Franconia Falls, Crystal Cascade (Mt Washington), Arethusa, Beaver Brook along Moosilauke, a great handful along 112/Kanc Highway, and so many more. Again; it’d be great to see your take on this! Let’s see it!

      @AdamHoyt  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video! I have more planned for the future! seems NH has so many it might take me a whole summer to track them all down and rank them all! But someday I will get them! My next target for this year is to tackle the ones in Vermont. Look for it soon!

    I’ve been to a bunch of these, but have a few more to visit. Great Falls is fun is you go after a heavy rain too. One ‘honorable mention’ that’s technically in NY, but right on the CT border is the unnamed falls at the Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area on Haviland Hollow Rd. in Patterson, NY.

      I’ve been to Bish Bash and that waterfall was huge. I’m not sure if you can still swim in the water anymore but that’s one I’ve been to in NY and of course the famous Niagara Falls. I never realized how big it was till I was actually there. I didn’t spot Superman though, darn.

    You were basically in my backyard, I live in northern Litchfield county. I was wondering if you were going to include Campbell falls! There are some other fantastic waterfalls in the area of the northwest corner, but they are somewhat lesser known and it's nice keeping them that way. ;-)

      That’s awesome! I’d like to think I saw the significant waterfalls during my exploiting and research. I actually visited 27 different ones to come up with this smaller list 🤣. Who knows maybe I did secretly visit them! But glad if they’re you’re personal favorites they can stay your secret!
