Thanks! Yeah, I definitely wouldn't stack graves in casual play and I'm glad there's also a speedrun category (hardcore%) that doesn't utilize it, but I also think things that like are cool in speedrunning. The developers put the mechanic in the game and it's out "job" to exploit the heck out of it! In any event, there's something for everybody! I'm glad that I enjoy it all!
Yeah, it's the most skill-intensive way to kill a deer. Killing a deer with a bow or spear is cheesier, deer doesn't stand a chance. People that had been with the channel know what I'm talking about: no clubbing Yag's belly from a hole in the ground, like in speedruns, etc. No killing first two bosses with campfires... THAT'S cheese. The whole topic is incredibly subjective. But in any event, thanks for the engagement!

@@ThreadMenace I just mentioned it because it was funny and it is cheese. All the speedrunners use it and they are nothing but cheese cuz they have nothing else to work with practically. I have so many hours in the game, training select skills right from day one is my cheese, if any and they make later game progress pretty easy and I really enjoy that natural advanced progression one can find in certain key aspects. For instance, getting the root harnesk and using that to go into the Plains right away to nab some cloudberries with relative ease and that came in super handy on my last run to have stamina potions because my boat was capsized and broke and I had just enough to survive the swim to shore.

It amazes me that you choose to use a troll to mine and cut wood for you, even on a hardcore run. I can never bring myself to trust lack of lag that much. World Save = dead.
Part of the reason I do it is that it happens so early in the run. It makes for an exciting beginning and if I die then starting over isn't too bad. I hadn't made any huge investments like building something that took me a long time, etc.

What difficulty is this on, I assume Hard, not Very Hard? Because it seems like they are doing considerably less damage and less tanky than when I tried Very Hard, unless it's been patched. I have been trying to find help for VH Hardcore mode, but it seems almost impossibly hard, AKA you can't even parry in your biome with good food and upgraded same biome gear. I actually ended up going back to Hard Hardcore because I got sick of being 1 shot after being staggered.
Hey, this is actually normal. It was published way before the modifiers were a thing. In this context "hardcore" pretty much just means deathless. I have to agree with you that very hard pretty much turns it into a different game. The only thing I've uploaded with difficulty modifiers are the Trial of Tyr runs (for which there are playlists) and those are on hard. I'd suggest checking out Zhaekus on twitch, he's doing a hardcore preset run and responds to questions in chat. I'd also definitely keep an eye on my homie @henrik9658 here on UA-cam. He just finished a playthrough on Immersive and is probably going to dive in to some Very Hard stuff soon.
For sure, they can mine like champions! Plus sides though are I get to just have a proper 1v1 in a controlled environment and kill it for 20 hide while keeping my miner troll alive and only missing out on his 5 hide.
@@ThreadMenace that’s fair. I just learned last night their tales are used in a pot dish. Just reached the plains and swamp and those areas pretty rough
@@hereticwinter07 definitely. would certainly recommend anyone make poison pots. i have a lot of experience and play weird/fast so I don't always do it
Eh, I'm pretty comfy with early game and I usually don't have the mats to make early capes worthwhile, and they don't do enough to justify an inventory slot, for me personally
BECAUSE I'M A MONSTER! Haha, it's just that they harass you to no end if you don't deal with them and I pretty much only need one batch of poison mead for the playthrough. The tails would just take up a slot in a box.
Hi, pardon the delay here! I usually use exactly one neck tail per playthrough for its mead recipe. The reason I don't pick up more is because it functions as a high HP food, but boar meat and deer meat are better so I go with those and then stamina food. Someone else might want to pick up more neck tails to make more batches of mead but as a food it's just not that great, and then it forever occupies a storage slot in a box somewhere...I'd rather just not deal with it. Thanks for the kind words!
Hardcore *mode* didn't exist yet when this was published. "Hardcore" is often used to denote deathless in video games. This series is still lots of fun and a lot of people enjoy it! Also, I do have a playthrough going with the actual hardcore preset if that's what you're looking for-- Thread Tries HARDCORE: ua-cam.com/play/PLTD4_RSzP0JaCbIpezeMppHDIigZVWfcQ.html
I level 3 bronze atgeir with also stagger wolves and fulings. I'm not quite sure why they won't let a level one stagger a regular troll. You need a level 3 iron atgeir to stagger a level two troll. Ask me how I know, lols.
Uh oh! Sounds like a lesson learned the hard way! Yeah, if a lvl 3 staggers goblins you'd think a lvl 1 would stagger trolls. hm. Good to know, thanks!
@@ThreadMenace I was using a knife as my main weapon when they dropped the update that gave us "You Are Being Hunted". I tried the stagbreaker but it's too slow for me. Then I tried the atgeir and I haven't looked back. I only switch to an axe or a sword for abominations.
I have never called anything maxhardcore and I never will. "Hardcore" is a pretty common way to label a deathless playthrough, and I never claimed this was anything more. This was recorded long before the world modifiers were in the game... Have you by chance uploaded a no-map deathless playthrough? I would love to critique it!
@@ThreadMenace I didn't look at the publication date of the video. I thought it meant a world modifier. Right now I’m going through maxHC. Normal difficulty without deaths is VERY easy. I've done it in this mode many times. Especially an archer. On average, normal difficulty without deaths takes -60 game days. MaxHC will take a lot of time, since there is no map, and terrain orientation is not provided by the developers. I will not install a mod on the compass. I don't like mods at all. In return, you will learn a lot of interesting things, for example, how to find a boss without a map, which is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. If, of course, you know some of the game mechanics. I advise you to try MaxHC, it will give you a lot more emotions from the game)

He just finished a playthrough on Immersive and is probably going to dive in to some Very Hard stuff soon.
too bad about your 2S Troll being in a cave.
they can mine ore like nothing else
For sure, they can mine like champions! Plus sides though are I get to just have a proper 1v1 in a controlled environment and kill it for 20 hide while keeping my miner troll alive and only missing out on his 5 hide.
@@ThreadMenacedo 2 star trolls do more damage to copper veins?
Yup! @@duploq
Probably a dumb question as I’m still learning the game, but why are you trying to avoid the Neck lizards?
Eh I don't consider their loot to be of value and they're just so mean and they follow you forever!
@@ThreadMenace that’s fair. I just learned last night their tales are used in a pot dish. Just reached the plains and swamp and those areas pretty rough
@@hereticwinter07 definitely. would certainly recommend anyone make poison pots. i have a lot of experience and play weird/fast so I don't always do it
@@ThreadMenace yessir, my buddy and I just learned the hard way against Bonemass today. Poison Res is an absolute godsend.
4:37:43 "What?!" 😆
Omg I forgot that was a thing that happened. Episode 1 even!
why don't you equip capes?
Eh, I'm pretty comfy with early game and I usually don't have the mats to make early capes worthwhile, and they don't do enough to justify an inventory slot, for me personally
demon 2:00:00
Why you kill necks and not even loot them :C
BECAUSE I'M A MONSTER! Haha, it's just that they harass you to no end if you don't deal with them and I pretty much only need one batch of poison mead for the playthrough. The tails would just take up a slot in a box.
how come you didnt pick up the neck meat?
PS I just started playing Valheim and must say your skill in this game is very impressive
@@ThreadMenace cool beans thanks for the response
I thought hardcore mode didn’t have the map?
Hardcore *mode* didn't exist yet when this was published. "Hardcore" is often used to denote deathless in video games. This series is still lots of fun and a lot of people enjoy it!
Also, I do have a playthrough going with the actual hardcore preset if that's what you're looking for-- Thread Tries HARDCORE: ua-cam.com/play/PLTD4_RSzP0JaCbIpezeMppHDIigZVWfcQ.html

Level 3 bronze atgeir staggers regular trolls
I level 3 bronze atgeir with also stagger wolves and fulings. I'm not quite sure why they won't let a level one stagger a regular troll. You need a level 3 iron atgeir to stagger a level two troll. Ask me how I know, lols.
I mean with the special attack

@@ThreadMenace now we are talking 👌
This is not maxhardcore! Maxhardcore = no map.
