      I'm practicing it for my grade 8, as a third piece, only just chose it. I really love this your composition, and hope I can do it justice, at least as well as Jill here.
      Can I find your performance here on UA-cam as well, Dario? By the way, I'm totally blown by the maturity of your composition, it's as if you have loved deeply, and suffered because of it, already, at your young age. Is there a story behind it, which you can share?

      She uses the forscore app and scans the music into it, along with an Airturn duo foot pedal which links to the app via Bluetooth. It turns the pages when she presses it😄 If you scroll down the comments for a bit, you can see her reply to someone asking the same question.

    Ma’am can you please explain how to read turn(ornament) in bar number 10,13 and 16 of this piece

    • @jillmortonpianist
      @jillmortonpianist  3 роки тому +16

      Hello! For a turn, we need to play 5 notes - the main note, the one above, the main note, the one below and the main note to finish. The sharp sign under the turn in 10 means the lower note is A#, in bar 13, the double sharp means the lower note is F double sharp (equivalent to G natural) and in bar 16 the upper note is D natural and the lower note is B#. Does that help?

      That really depends on the candidate. Some pieces are easier technically, but more difficult musically. You should choose pieces you feel a true connection with.

    How did you play the turn in bar 16? It seems you played the B followed by C#DC#CC#. Is that right and is it a five note turn.

    • @jillmortonpianist
      @jillmortonpianist  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it's a 5 note turn. The natural sign above the turn tells us it's a D natural as the upper note and the # below the turn tells us the lower note is B# (sounding C)

      @@jillmortonpianist thank you Jill. What exercises would you recommend for voicing independence in one hand. How do I bring out the melody with so many notes around it?

    • @jillmortonpianist
      @jillmortonpianist  Рік тому +2

      It really depends on the piece and the context. Sometimes it's to do with where the weight is in your hand, and also the speed and weight of the attack on each note you play whether it's a melodic note or a harmonic note. You're best to work with a teacher for specific advice as they will be able to look at how you're playing passages and work out what you need to do differently to make the melody sing.
