Love the idea of tank identification on the roof, reminds me of when the coalition forces put orange flags on their vehicles so friendly air would know not to shoot them
Awesome job! Love the look of 30k tanks along side the Astra Militarum troops... especially Cadians. My back story... after the fall of Cadia, equipment is scarce, so older tank variants have been pressed into service once again.
4:20 I still remember using a brush to actually brush paint the tanks of my first few of armies. I wasted SO MUCH TIME and got streaky finishes with brush marks instead of just stippling like this. So much better this way.
Very nice results, the tank looks like it been kept reasonably clean but is no longer factory fresh. I've drybrushed in the past but will have to look into stippling.
This video has inspired me to return to my half finished Krieg Russ, though with the new Auxillia tanks I may get those for my Krieg. I'd love to see one done in your Krieg scheme, but as long as it fits the army theme.
Fantastic result on this one Andy, like you I have never been as impressed with this chassis as some of the others, but seeing yours finished and painted its growing on me, and ofc now it’s in plastic that doesn’t hurt its chances……. Perhaps my traitors need one 🤔🤣
I go to your channel for terrain painting tutorials. It’s influenced entire battlefields for me. Can you please do a video painting some Wall of Martyrs Terrain???
Dude! You did a GREAT job on this tank! I actually like all the transfers! Well done. I am experimenting with using rubber stamps instead of transfers. Possibly with embossed lettering. Let me know if interested.
@MediocreHobbies Turned out great. I highly recommend stamps instead of transfers. I learned that embossing works well on resin but NOT plastic (it gets too hot for plastic). I could send you pics...
Looks great, yet another job well done 👍 I've only rly seen these painted as Krieg tanks, but it looks nice in the cadian green colours. Side note, I know your going through the Solar Auxiliary stuff atm and the Old World, but you did a series of videos on the old classic guard regiments, I was rly looking forward to seeing the Mordian one, but you never got around to it, is it not planned or maybe it's on the list of future stuff?
@@MediocreHobbies yeah I bet. But I’m gonna lay off painting him until you do it so I can follow lol. Unless you give a run down of what paints you’d use?
That's a nice mainline battle tank, reminds me of World of Tanks even. One of the first things back in the day that I wanted to play was Guard for the tanks... but then I heard it was mostly just "Paint blobs and blobs of bland guardsmen with a few weapons teams sprinkled in." I got turned off quickly, prolly the one mini I'd like to own for Guard is Lord Solar Macharius. He looks like a boss imho. Speaking of ancient mini's from Warhammer past, picked up a mounted Damsel of the MTO series and the Wood Elf Shadow Dancer (Shadow Coil) variants the other day. I'm shocked at how tiny the horse is for the MTO Damsel... I might have to pull one of my old spare chariot horses out of the bits box, rig it up with a sheet of green stuff as barding and give her a proper Bretonnian Warhorse.... even if it's an elven steed. I also began collecting parts for a kitbash project... I figured I'd make a Duke on Hippogriff using the Gryph-Charger from the Masters of the Sacrosanct kit's front end, stuck to the rear end of a Royal Pegasus.... I still have a few old sprues worth of bits and bobs I might be able to use to fill in gaps with my High Elf parts as well. I just hope the parts line up better than the kitbash using the High Elf Griffin from the Island of Blood, that one looks too squished and squatty to me. Any suggestions as to customizing the Duke? I could dig through my High Elf parts some more, I have a ton of kits like the White Lions, Phoenix Guard, Dragon Mage, BSB Noble + Prince kit etc that might be able to source some bits and bobs in a pinch. I'm just worried the Duke might not look very Bretonnian. :P
Looks great, ive never thought about doing armour like this, ill be giving it a try though. Would it work just as easily for the traditional cadian two tone armour colour scheme? Just needing to be careful with brush placement around the transition lines?
Personally, despite the trench warfare aesthetic, I really prefer the idea of the malcadors going into a Cadian force rather than Krieg. Krieg aren't typically known for using the Malcador but rather they are known for fighting it a lot during the Siege of Vraks. By M41 it's generally not given to newly equipped regiments like Krieg, since the Leman Russ is technically superior in universe. The Malcador therefore I think fits better with Cadians, who are not as fresh on the block as the Death Korps, having instead been defending the Imperium for thousands of years. That's plenty of time to build up a supply of ancient vehicles with stories histories like Holn's Revenge. Who knows what great battles it took part in before Holn took command of it!
@@MediocreHobbies It's just some of the curiosities with the WH tanks and troops. Comes from the era of not having easy to get to and use sources. If you look at the Primaris tanks (actually IFVs) they're starting to get to the modern style stuff. So Malcador as an STC is lorewise a ludicrous thing. :) Do these look amazing? Yes. So I want these for my Ultramar PDF/troops? Absolutely. Do your army stuff look great? I love them and the ease you have in painting them. When they note amounts of troops in the lore they're talking about amount of soldiers that would be small wars ala Ukraine. Vraks would have had to have something like half a billion soldiers from Imperium's side at least. It was a planetary conflict, even if localised.
Please stop catering to people that don’t have an airbrush. You can get a compressor and a decent airbrush for the price of a warband box. One less box in the pile of shame to get a tool that you can use to make your hobby time better
It’s not just about money pal, some people don’t have an area suitable for airbrushing. Some people also have might trouble with their hands and using an airbrush would make things harder for them. There’s enough airbrushing videos out there, including on my own channel, for people who have one, what’s the harm in showing people a different method?
@@MediocreHobbies brother, if you have room for any of this, you have room for an airbrush. If you have the dexterity to hold a brush, you have dexterity to hold an airbrush. Yep its a fun little touch.

Great idea for the older tanks.
Nothing wrong with the tank, just the ad much need to fixed theemgine.

It does work a treat for tanks.

It’s good fun and gets good results. I’m a big fan.
That looks fantastic, really liking the stipple painting worked so effectively

Great looking kit! Nice work and love the backstory!

Gorgeous work, my man! I need one of these for my 195th Cadian Fireflies, stat!
Agreed you do for sure e
A neat tank it really has nifty look .

That is a fantastic looking piece of kit.

Awesome video Andy. I greatly appreciate you not using an air brush too. This video has greatly helped me. Thank you 👍🏻
Happy to hear that pal.
Amazing paint job congrates !!! Looking forward to having more than 1 of these 😎great video, thanks for sharing 👍🍻

Hahaha maybe they do. Maybe they do.
Such a simple paint job but super effective, looks great 👍, will have to try this on my tanks in the future
Love hearing that! Yes it’s so easy and makes it look like you spent way longer on it than you did 😄
Looks class, the Malcador is a cool tank, thought about getting one myself for my guard army in 40k.
Go for it. It’s a great tank.
Haha! I used the cadian commander for the same thing. Though the older resin malcador kit, put him in there for my Militia.
Nice. I think both my older resin once will become cadians maybe. I’m still not sure.
Fantastic job. 4 in a day! I would be happy to paint 4 in a year.
Hahhaha as long as your happy lol
damn I just love the imperial guard tanks, they're so cool, I alreay have 1 baneblade, 3 lemans, 4 Rogals.. but this malcators looking fire!
4 rogals? I’m jelous.
Great looking tank
Cheers.
Nice job Andy - I didn't think I needed one of these but your build has persuaded me!
Hahaha I’m sorry I think.
Very cool! I will try this on my own Malcador which i just ordered 😁
Hope you enjoy it!

Third times the charm lol.
The primary colors on my entire dark angels army are done with stippling. The effect is fantastic to create wear, heavy use and age in a model.
Yeah it really sets it apart from a flat looking toy!
I’ve just built one of these to field with my wolves 40K army man. I love the aesthetic and feel of it. It’s going to be called lucky 13.
Aw very cool name!
