Idea for u. A lance (4 units) of lost era BattleTech ‘Mechs found and operated by Guardsman of the 77th Division (Lost Battalion) on Antallos …1 Atlas, 2 Bushwackers, 1 Raven
Here is a challenge for you - ATTILA! The 'Rough Riders' are rightly famous, but surely not ALL troops from there take the form of their famous cavalry? So, there is the challenge, infantry and/or mechanised forces from a standard type regiment from Attila!
the rogal dorn is too much of a mashup between various IRL tanks so it looks disjointed, that goes away without the turret. combine that with the removal of the stupid front hull gatling gun & incredibly dumb dual stubbers and this has taken the original tank from "kid drawing super cool tanks in school" to a grounded, realistic looking vehicle that just happens to be in 40k. GW's current phase of whacking 10 different weapons on every vehicle is so stupid.
I’ve heard people say the Rogal Dorn is supposed to look like a 40k sherman, but I’ve always thought the hull and tracks look like a t28 superheavy assault tank. Like, as far as inspiration goes, it even fits the name better since the t28 (and t95) were designed be slower breakthrough tanks that rely on having huge slabs of frontal armor to absorb incoming fire and a giant gun to assault enemy fortifications - which is just perfect for a vehicle named for the primarch of the Imperial Fists. If I played guard, this conversion is almost exactly what I would have gone for and I’m so happy to see the concept realized so brilliantly. Awesome work!
@@cirno9349 Haha now that you mention it yeah the front hull does look alot like the M6. However the tracks are like a mix between the ARL-44 and M6 because its hull doesn't overlap the tracks like the M6 does but it does have the larger road wheels like the M6. Of course being overloaded with guns is definitely an American thing.
Awesome conversion and hilariously timely. I'm weathering and finishing my Guard tank destroyer bash - Solar Auxilia Leman Russ + Shadowsword cannon in the hull - lots of putty & plasticard!
Would’ve been cool to see it painted up pink like WW2 desert jeeps, could’ve had “ pink panther” written on the side and some cool free hand hull art. Looks amazing though, great work Pete
Mate that is an amazing depiction of a Tallarn tank killer!!! Not sure of you have already made one but it'd be sweet to see your take on a Steel Legion tank, not necessary another Rogal, a beefier Hellhound would kick ass!!!!
Fantastic video! The miliput was a really good idea for dealing with those transitions; wish I'd done that, myself, when I was converting some of my tanks. Probably would have gone better than my attempts at plasticard lol. The weathering and battle damage turned out *really* nice, too! By pure chance, I was experimenting with it earlier today, and I gotta say, I'm in love.
As usual, incredible build. You really are an inspiration to push my kitbashing further. Something that I'd love to see in future as a Custodes player myself would be a Custodes build, perhaps amplifying one of our existing infantry options or kitbashing a Custom Venerable Dread (since the kit does not really exist anymore). Anyway thank you for the vid, looking forward to the next one Cheers!
Absolutely brilliant. This is awesome, i already liked the look of the Rogal Dorn tank. But now im convinced that it was supposed to be a tank destroyer from the start.
I'm a sucker for Tanith First and Only. This brings out a similar challenge to the suggestion of Attilan Rough Riders; how do you bring mechanized aspects to a force that is not defined by them? (Mounted cavalry for Attilans, stealth insertion, and infantry for the Tanith) My thought would be something along the lines of mobile artillery pieces set in place to support the Tanith. Or perhaps the humble chimera getting a chance to have a glow-up while Tanith infantry catch a ride after a successful mission.
Thank you for showing newsh as weathering technique. I am not in a position where i can use neither airbrush or enamel/oil products, so really appreciate seeing the alternatives in action:)
What about something from the Mordian Iron Guard? Because they live in an area that's constantly an endless night, you could play around with lighting effects, like big floodlights or lanterns. Maybe an aircraft for instance, like the Vendetta, or one of their tanks like the Chimera, something that'd sweep through a darkened city whilst shining a big spotlight around, straight out of a cyberpunk visual.
I would love to see you do the Vostroyan First Born, they are a very striking Imperial Guard regiment with a unique blend of old Cossaks and high end futuristic equipment including cybernetics. They would pair well with a basilisk or I could see them going really well with the new Malcador kits from 30k
Haha, unfortunately I messed up the filming of that part. You can get away with a finger for the small areas but the bigger parts like the tracks are better with a cloth
Hi Pete! Hope youre doing well, wanted to recommend a potential kitbash that i havent really seen anywhere, I love the old Vostroyan units, and loved your kitbash video. What about a Vostroyan tank kitbash?
This makes me long for the days of armor facings and weapon fire arcs. Guess you can just fire the main gun backwards through the tank, so making a tank destroyer has no drawbacks.
if your interested in making armys for guard regments like the Tallarns that have few if any official models for, id recommend victoria miniatures. they have a massive range of infantry and exrta tank and feiild gun related stuff. but not a huge tank range
Would certainly like to see a kitbash for your take on the old Praetorian Guard sentinel. The old model is definitely looking very dated alongside modern kits 😂😂
I’ll be honest I haven’t liked a lot of the new guard stuff, too round or way too WW2, we have Krieg for that style and the giga-Sherman that is the Dorn I just thought looked ugly. But this is the kind of stuff that keeps me in the hobby Very cool conversion Here’s to hoping we can get the Mecharius tank in plastic one day
I think a Medusa from the Tanith first and only woud be wary nice. Ich entschuldige mich für mein schlechtes Englisch und hoffe das es das Fahrzeug von meinem lieblings Regiment mal in ein Video schafft
Ok so I really like the overall design you did, except for the choice of putting the cupola with the viewglass on the rear of the vehicle instead of in the front where it would make more sense... Especially since you covered 90% of the view with stowage 😂😂. This almost makes me wanna do this build just to correct it lmfao
1:10 T U T E L and he made a 40k t95 doom turtle nice 6:24 what stug had a remote mg??? I looked it up and dam its weird. it's not realy remote controlled as it's more mechanically linked up with the trigger its realy interesting
Wow, you've done a brilliant job making that casemate look realistic, I wouldn't be able to tell anything was different if not for having seen the original first
Thanks Tom! At first I was very apprehensive about the how the blend between the turret roof and the rest of hull would look but it'd turned out pretty well I think.
I never liked the Rogal Dorn, always looked too much like a toy, especially with the absurd amount of guns slapped everywhere, but man you really managed to turn it into something grounded and cool, and the desert scheme is just icing on the cake!
@totalCoolerUsername I agree! I also like the Rogal Dorn, Malcador and Chimera (particularly the malacador), but I think the regular leman russ is a bit too cartoony
The silhouette on this tank is 100x better than the official Rogal Dorn - which is just WAY too visually busy with all the little guns and nonsense everywhere. Fantastic job!

Great suggestion! It'd be interesting to see how I could incorporate vehicles into a regiment who's famous for their horse riders!
@@PeteTheWargamer Do something interesting with mechanized infantry - ie. chimeras or tauroxes maybe?
I think it'd be awesome!
Ogryns converted from old world ogre kits already have that "steppe" look
Putting together a rider now and thinking of just a cadian head swap. I like the idea of supplied heads but idk.
The Sigismund is such a flex of a name 18:51
A big Catachan tank would be fun - think of all the dead animal bits you could add... and some guard standing over it to make sure it's dead
Could kitbash together a Hellhound that feels a bit more like a Vietnam era M113 ACAV
Catachans using a stormlord that would work
Tank Destroyer Rogal Dorn looks so much better than the normal turreted one.
Thank you :) I think it might be the proportions. The Rogal Dorns turret is quite big compared to the rest of it.
the rogal dorn is too much of a mashup between various IRL tanks so it looks disjointed, that goes away without the turret. combine that with the removal of the stupid front hull gatling gun & incredibly dumb dual stubbers and this has taken the original tank from "kid drawing super cool tanks in school" to a grounded, realistic looking vehicle that just happens to be in 40k. nice, always like for the original Imperial Guard regiments.
Thank you!
There's something about that tank destroyer look that I just love
The Sigismund is a great name. There could also be a Polux or Rann.
Well done. That deserves to be an official kit and Guard option. :)
There was a forgeworld tank destroyer model like this once upon a time.
Would love to see a set back chimera for the traitor guard. Moebian 6th. Or Hivecult Brood brothers.
Or how about an old-school Genestealer Cult Limousine?
awesome a new Tank has been built and it's for the Tallarn Desert Raiders
As someone who bought and assembled their royal dorn two days ago, I sure as hell wished I waited. Looks amazing, keep doing what you’re doing!

With the turret it always looked more like the French ARL 44 to me; but yeah with a casemate its definitely more like the T28 or even the Tortoise.
It’s an m6 heavy tank hull that’s where it gets the track sloping down and the nipple guns, it’s certainly very American
@@cirno9349 Haha now that you mention it yeah the front hull does look alot like the M6. That sounds like an awesome build! I bet the Shadowsword cannon looks pretty immense on a Russ body.
@@PeteTheWargamer it's as ridiculous as you'd imagine, pure 40K aesthetic. Barrel as long as the hull.
Fantastic conversion! such a great kit to play around with in this way
Would’ve been cool to see it painted up pink like WW2 desert jeeps, could’ve had “ pink panther” written on the side and some cool free hand hull art. Looks amazing though, great work Pete
11:30 This is where it gets interesting for me: a good job of highlighting, weathering, etc.

Would be neat to see a steel Legion chimera
Super cool my dude! Love seeing your vehicle kitbashes! I’d love to see you dig into some Eldar models too at some point, in your style of course!!
absolutely love this kitbash! tank destroyers are so cool
I would love to see vehicles from the Mordant Acid Dogs! Something to make Colonel Bane proud!
Hope to see you tackle some of the Tanith First and Only sometime. Perhaps some Tanith scouts on motorbikes as a stand-in for atillan rough riders!
This is what the Rogal Dorn should have been. Love the tank destroyer profile
I think I've seen more Rogal Dorn destroyer tanks painted online than "normal" regular ones... xD

Perfect. You made a great conversion. Love the look of the tank.
Literally did this with my own dorn when the model was released. Much prefer the look this way, feels much better
Love this German Hetzer / STuG III style of an imperial heavy Tank
Those chapter titles are *Chef's Kiss*
It's the Stugal Dorn!
Really really nice! Would make a great proxy for the Stygies as well in legends. Bravo
Nice build! The Dracosan from the Solar Auxilia range is awesome to build a tank destroyer, you could look that up if you want to do more tanks!
Really nice conversion! 👏👏👏
I've been doing a binge of your older painting videos for Flames Of War (that desert MERDC will always look great), and this feels like a perfect mix
And just bought a 1/35 scale British Mk IV tank to kitbash into a Baneblade, so this will be perfect inspiration

We need a miniature of Rommel as the tank commander

125, 134, and 196 Dremel high speed cutter bits are worth the buy if you use yours regularly for modeling.
This makes me long for the days of armor facings and weapon fire arcs. Guess you can just fire the main gun backwards through the tank, so making a tank destroyer has no drawbacks.
At first, i thought, it would be fantastic with a camo patern. But, with the finish model... il's way better like you do.
Nice, that's Nightshift good! Different approach, of course, but I love the result just as much 😘👌
That's high praise indeed. Thank you!
how about a custom chimera APC or a custom IFV variant for the Armageddon steel legion?
