We appreciate the comments! We know that Dock Watch will not work at every location and will not be a benefit for every driver. However, it has been our experience with over 80 years of driving under our belt that this is a situation that plagues drivers. We sit in the drivers seat and stay at the mirror or lay over the steering wheel or lay in the bunk with one eye open. That is not quality rest for anyone. This device alleviates a driver having to do that. To answer some of the question: In reality it takes a driver about 30 seconds to set up the device. Unless you know it’s there, another driver will have a real hard time seeing it hanging on the light and try and steal it. It will notify you if you pull away and forget it. We know that this device is not cheap but we have made the decision to have it produced in the United States and not China. We know some drivers have been doing this for a long time but why deal with it if you don’t have to?

I just go to bed until my phone rings, even if they say they don't do phone calls , if you're blocking a door..........they'll call lol
That gets you good sleep but can also cost you a lot of time. A lot of places don’t make it a priority to tell you. They expect you to see the light change.
I was at a W mrt DC in an ice storm, once. Half the crew was there. I get in, on time, and drop the trailer at the door. Took over eight hours to unload. So, when they called me up to get that “lumpers check” and kick me out, I told them that I’m still waiting for the approval number. They want you gone, no matter what you have on the clock, but they won’t let you leave without paying them. I waited the hour and a half for my clock to roll over, and then brought it in to them. Nice, big loophole you could park a truck in!
I go to the sleeper and wait for the shaking to stop. Then check for green or wait for the knock on the door. Depending on location. Some will give me a buzzer.
I work for a small trucking company, we took all our trucks and put a little wireless camera on the driver's side of the sleeper looking back with a monitor in the sleeper. That way you can get out of the seat and go back into the sleeper to fix some food or do your paperwork or whatever and you just keep one eye on that monitor.
Trick learned while RVing: Get a slap bracelet and slap it onto your steering wheel whenever you deploy the dock watch. Then, when you go to leave, it is a reminder that the dock watch is still attached to the light. You can also use other slap bracelets for other items you need to remember when parked.
Years back when I was working the dock a certain driver would come in and of course we locked his truck to the dock. So I unloaded him and he got the green light. He would come in and we had already moved the dock plate and he could shut his door. Then as he gets back to his truck I would rehook him back again while he is trying to pull away. Then he would come back in and by that time had unlocked him. After the while he was getting pissed and everybody starts to laugh and he did too. I had known him for years. We had other guys we did that to.
What if somebody steals it while attached to the light, though? Other than that, it is pretty cool. Usually, if less than two hours, I would just sit in the driver's seat with more trip planning and other things to get done. Phone calls, budgeting, trip planning, or whatever is something I would be doing. After two hours of doing that, I would get tired of sitting there in the driver's seat, so that is pretty cool.
Hi Kevin, I know the feeling just sitting waiting for the green light. I have been at Docks in England when I was still working getting more and more frustrated watching the light, it seems for ever to get the green. Good gadget you have there , don't have to watch that damn light. One company I delivered to took your truck keys so you couldn't drive away !

Interesting item. Would it be better if you could aim it into your mirror so you could stay in your truck or a portable alarm so you could take it with you.
At FedEx, you are not allowed to hook to a trailer until it’s green and depending on the location only the yard truck can pull off the door, but it’s a good concept
Asda's Distribution centres (part of Walmart) here in the UK, once they assign you a loading bay they also provide a pager so you don't have to sit and wait for the green light. 😊
I like this idea! On the flipside, yesterday (08/23) a driver was sitting inside his cab doing things on his phone (I could see him from his side mirror). He was to first remove the seal then hand it to me for verification. I could not get his attention waving orange plastic, hollering, dock light, then I used the horn on an electric pallet jack. Tah-Dah! It worked!! This tool will benefit many.🤙
You can occasionally check that mirror that comes from factory. Or, spend money on a silly product, want for it to arrive, put it together, install an app, connect on Bluetooth, go hang it on the light, go back to your cab, let the app send your downtime information to a website, wait for the notification, get the device off the light, disconnect it from your Bluetooth, put it somewhere in your cab, and now you can go on your way.
I mean, i dont sit and stare at the light. Lol, you can get a pretty good idea of their loading/unloading progression just by how many times, and how frequently they go in and out of the trlr. Especially if you know how many pallets you have.

Anheuser Busch has you check in through the app, you get a door assignment, and complete it through the app. While at the door, they put a lock on your trailer and will knock on your door just in case. 2024 and we don't have a text system when done. A seasoned engineer would fix all those issues. No sense inventing a gadget when one already exists and everyone already has one.
Wouldn’t that be better if you can just place it somewhere closer to the cab or your side view mirror? Even though you have to close the trailer doors you still have to go out and get the machine. Instead of just pulling away and closing the trailer doors. Just a question me being curious. Be safe on the road.🚚🚚🚚
How do I know if it would take an hour or ten? Just go to ramp and ask loadmaster. Also I can check documents. Full load, 33 pallets usually is loaded about 40 minutes.
I just dont go to warehouses that take more than an hour anymore. That is just completely unnecessary for any warehouse to take longer than that. So far this year every place has been 30 minutes or less except one. Ended up having detention to get loaded there. Haven't been back sense. If they make an appointment it is their responsibility to have the staff and equipment. Detention is low paying compared to running the truck.
Local driver of 4 years here. Never needed this either. I usually just look at the dock light to see if it's ready. Or if they don't have one, go inside and ask if it's done.
@NotUp2Much so the device may not be for you. how do you do any of that if you are sleeping. that's the point of this thing. for the otr drivers that get to the dock and wait 6 plus hours might as well sleep. I haul produce and some places I wait 10 hours.

Have a sensor at the bottom of the rolling door when shut. No App. No getting out to retrieve the wand. Former forker. Some of the other idiot forkers at a former company ignored or forgot the light. Drivers were pissed waiting all that time for the light to change especially closing hours. I knew some drivers and gave a few bangs on the front wall, drive out, shut their doors, turn on the light if they aren’t there or give a wave to them to pull out of the dock. Alot of these drivers want to go to the next stop, home, or park in a safe spot. They are doing their job too so don’t be a jerk🇺🇸
The further I get down the comments the more expensive this thing gets 😂 you got the highest price now ! Oh by the way it says it’s on back order now .. must be selling like hotcakes 😂

So I wonder how many of these things will be left behind and forgotten unintentionally of course the driver will forget to take his dock watch with him
YEARS AGO, Wireless backup cams were invented for Rvers to keep an eye on their trailer, help to hitch & to help backing. I dont understand why truckers all dont carry one to stick onto the back of their trailers to help while blind backing. Seems like a no brainer. OR, Is it an ego thing? They dont want to be laughed at at the truckstops by other truckers who back into blind spaces without nary a problem? There has been more than one warehouse worker who has gotten himself crushed to death by being behind a backing truck !
If you're sitting in a line of trucks, is there something out there that will tell you when the truck infront of you moves? Sitting and waiting for the line to move is a big problem for Oil field drivers.

@@TheJoyofTrucking 🤣
😂😂
Anheuser Busch has you check in through the app, you get a door assignment, and complete it through the app. While at the door, they put a lock on your trailer and will knock on your door just in case. Why would you sit behind the wheel for hours when you could be in the bunk or doing something else off-duty?
Great Shippers and Receivers have a system in which no personal gadgets are needed! 😊
Indeed! Sadly not everyone is a great shipper or receiver. 😉
Am i the only one that was questioning when you called yourself a solo driver but had someone filming you😅
@@dvsmike Could be.🤔😉 I’m his wife along on the truck. I appear in many of our almost 1,000 videos. I’m not a driver. I’m the UA-camr. He’s a solo driver. Not team. Thanks for watching and commenting.
App sound alarm is outstanding.
👍
Cool product but imo it’s a lot safer and more efficient to just use a camera that can swing out from behind your cab to see.
2024 and we don't have a text system when done. A seasoned engineer would fix all those issues. No sense inventing a gadget when one already exists and everyone already has one.
Ding ding ding ! We have a Winner !! Simple …
Good idea till the dock green light is broke 😂
Well…then it wouldn’t work. You’re right.
That was our original idea but we couldn’t come up with a way to detect the green light from that far away.
that's a great Idea
👍👍👍
Makes for a great Christmas gift don’t you think 😂 you know for that trucker in your life ..😂
How do I know if it would take an hour or ten? Just go to ramp and ask loadmaster. Also I can check documents. Full load, 33 pallets usually is loaded about 40 minutes.
Depends on the shipper. Glad yours are that predictable!
This is freaking cool. NGL
👍🤩🥳
I just dont go to warehouses that take more than an hour anymore. That is just completely unnecessary for any warehouse to take longer than that. So far this year every place has been 30 minutes or less except one. Ended up having detention to get loaded there. Haven't been back sense. If they make an appointment it is their responsibility to have the staff and equipment. Detention is low paying compared to running the truck.
@@coltonkruse2313 👍🤩
Dock watch not available. Its been stolen😂
You also forgot to use 3 points of contact when getting out of the tractor.❤saftey first
I have never needed anything like this, they either call or come knocking on my truck and tell me I was done.
He probably got one for free and said he would promote it ..
@@glenngray1201 probably
Another driver sneaks over and grabs your dock watch and hangs it up on someone else door with a red light! LOL
😆😆😆🤦♀️
Thats why I really dont miss freight loads..alot of BS with those warehouses.
What a great idea 🎉❤
We think so too! 👏👏👏
Hope you're getting affiliate sales from that product, that would be some easy money. You already did the sales pitch
Thanks. But no. We just wanted to share it with drivers because we think it’s a helpful gadget. No affiliate marketing.
@@TheJoyofTrucking every little bit help something extra to add to your portfolio,
Cool product for places that don't call the driver
👍👍👍
Nice
👍👍👍
Did that say "Grief" above the dock???? How appropriate
😆😆Greif.
Retired OTR driver, in 32 years I never needed this. This is a solution in search of a problem.
@@NotUp2Much lol yeah and if they don't have lights this app and device is useless anyway. 😃
@@kohl4lifeif I'm sleeping IDGAF what light is lit. I'll wake up when I'm no longer tired or when they come out and beat on my door telling me I'm tying up their dock. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a full 10 in.
@@kohl4lifeI’m sorry 😂 you getting paid ?
I drove for 40 years never had problem figuring out when loaded or empty. guess modern day truck drivers need dirt little gadgets.. even drove for the company you for
Have a sensor at the bottom of the rolling door when shut.
👍👍👍👍🤗🤩
It is a great product for those places that use lights… is it $229 great???
The further I get down the comments the more expensive this thing gets 😂 you got the highest price now ! Oh by the way it says it’s on back order now .. must be selling like hotcakes 😂
And while you're sleeping it will dissappear. Someone will see it not even knowing what it is but people will still take it just because they want to.😂
@@jimyoung361 😳
Kevin you are a legend of sales for Crete transport I wish I had met you sooner in my trucking career , I really enjoy your videos most of any other company, individual or whatever you are a enjoyable person on you tube. Thank you
So I wonder how many of these things will be left behind and forgotten unintentionally of course the driver will forget to take his dock watch with him
It sends alarm if you start driving away.
It's all good till someone or the shipper snags it. It's a good idea tho
YEARS AGO,
Wireless backup cams were invented for Rvers to keep an eye on their trailer, help to hitch & to help backing. I dont understand
why truckers all dont carry one to stick onto the back of their trailers to help while blind backing. Seems like a no brainer.
OR,
Is it an ego thing? They dont want to be laughed at at the truckstops by other truckers who back into blind spaces without
nary a problem? There has been more than one warehouse worker who has gotten himself crushed to death by being behind
a backing truck
!
If you're sitting in a line of trucks, is there something out there that will tell you when the truck infront of you moves? Sitting and waiting for the line to move is a big problem for Oil field drivers.
We have thought of this as well. It may be our next device.
@@dockwatch6607 I think there are things on the market that will work, It's just that they're not marketed tward truckers. Maybe a reselling one is also a good idea? anyway thanks for responding.
And the Can haulers
Hi Kevin and Tanya
👋👋👋😎
smart ! send me one
😀
👍👍👍
😂😂😂
I've never sat and watched the light I always just lay down and go to sleep
JBG would need 2 of those...
Where I work our lights change automatically when we lock and unlock trailers. Do other docks not do this? Lots of the comments seem to suggest that the lights are independent of the locked or unlocked state.
OK, that’s very smart
It's kinda interesting but 200 dollars, I use a wireless rv bumper camer, stick it to my window, and watch the light on wifi to my phone. That's about 120 bucks, which is expensive enough.
If they want me to leave they'll get my number, give me a pager, or knock on the door. And If I want to leave, I'll be checking.
Kinda cool of a gadget I guess. There's always a way 😂
I’ll pass. Have not ever sat in the seat to constantly watch for the green light. They’ll call, knock or whatever when they’re done. Get paid by the hour, so the longer they take, the more I make.
You are lucky to get paid by the hour. Kevin is paid cpm so he wants to get going as soon as that light turns green.
@@TheJoyofTrucking I know. I used to be on cpm. It’s a pain. 13 years of OTR. Now I work Monday-Friday. Sometimes Tuesday-Friday.
