Great to see Brendan at his peak, and not the sick and dying man of later years. All his brains, wit and sensitivity come across. Part of the problem is that he was never taken seriously enough as a writer in the UK and America, as evidenced by this interview. Derek Hart wasn't hostile, but it's hard to imagine him interviewing W H Auden or Graham Greene in this tone.

Nah I think he’s ok. Same accent to Like a lot of British interviewers at that time. We Irish don’t like those accents but the character is important.
