Superb interview. 3 weeks ago I lost my beautiful boy, Alfie. He took his own life at the age of 19 over a girl. He was on life support for 4 days before the doctors told us there was no hope. I held his hand as he passed. My life since has been filled with "what ifs" and "if onlys"but whatever I'm going through pales into insignificance to what my son must have felt that night. He must have experienced such a dark night of the soul and I wasn't there for him. I miss him so much. No matter what you think about Bob Geldof or his music, nobody should have to lose a child in that way. Everything he said here is from the heart.
What a wonderful interview very thought provking. I've only ever read two autobiography's one was Peter Sheridan's "44 Seville Place" and Bob geldof's "Is That It" two wonderful books as I tended to read novels prior to them. Being the same age as Bob and after reading his book years ago I always found him to be too truthful and comes out with things most people would be too embarrased to say or shy away from and am glad he hasn't changed.
Bob is right, time heals nothing. It's what you do with the time. Life is hard, it's painful, it's joyful but no matter how bad it gets it is ALWAYS better than the alternative, ALWAYS.
The joy of Tommy’s technique is to just let people speak. Let them talk. Too often the interviewer tries to make it about them i.e James Cordon and any comedian doing talks shows in the USA. Thank you Tommy.
At one time in my life bob was my hero, and strangely enough probably still is because of his blatant honesty, I got to share a stage with him in 2022 at an event and I was blown away by his stage presence and energy. Good man bob, great interview 👍 👏
WOW! What an Interview....Geldof's articulation, humanity and comfort within his own skin is matched only by his ability to paint a picture of his experiences. Oscar Wilde (my favourite author) "Eat Your Heart Out"
I have great respect for Bob Geldof. I just hope he is well. You never get over losing a child. I lost my nephew 15 its cruel. I just hope that he now as a humanitarium the genocide in Gaza. But much love to you Sir Bob ❤❤🙏🙏
Bobs description of how time does not heal the terrible grief of losing your child, it merely is accommodated in your life with time, is the most realistic description of beteavement that ive ever heard

Well I have to disagree, but that's o/k if u feel that way.. Now i've seen him as a fella who never could make up his mind in how he saw himself& what he wanted the world to see him as.. Was he a Full time ' Rock Star' TV presenter, SJW & Activist,Charity Org ( And he did try to make a difference) Record Producer,Business man? And he might be all of those or at least 1 or 2 but when u make a choice u own it& u can't be everything to everyone.. And I don't think he knows& or still quite unsure.. But at the end of the day,he just wants me to buy his music& merch and STFU.
Gosh so tired of people living in their own little eco chambers spouting hate for a man they never met , 😢 really enjoyed thiis conversation , thanks Tommy and Bob 😊
He has the perfect balance of love and respect for his deceased loved ones and the zest for life and love of those he has around him. Many people hang on too long to their immediate grief and can't move on. I hope this interview inspires some people to get a grip of life. I love his perfect balance of bad language and compassionate emotion. The most real person in celebrity land.
I just love and admire Bob GeldofHe is a genius of sorts and has an inate kindness. He has suffered a lot of personal loss and yet there is no bitterness. I could listen to him for hours.❤❤

When my husband died after 65 years of being together, my heart was broken, just couldn't help myself, and one day, I cried out loud to Yahweh/God and his wonderful Son, Yeshua/Jesus, and asked for mercy and for Him to take away my deep, deep sorrow. A couple of days later, I realised that my sobbing had stopped, my appetite was restored. He answered my prayer, and it was a miracle. I feel for anyone who doesn't have faith.
He is a lovley man and been thro so much and the way he deals with everything is inspirational, to anyone.. i wish he believed there is a god , and realise that god has been carrying him thro everything , but he doesnt and thats his choice. He is still a brilliantly interesting person and a good living man too
