CIT Heist I Police Minister visits scene after six suspects killed in Rosettenville

- Six suspects have been killed in a shoot-out during a cash-in-transit heist this afternoon at Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg. Details of the incident are still sketchy, but police say more suspects have been arrested. Provincial Commissioner in Gauteng, General Elias Mawela is expected to brief the media this evening.
Reporter Mbali Mthethwa is at the scene.

The dumbest thing I have heard today, how do you announce on TV that you have task members set to infiltrate these gangs. The nature of infiltration is secrecy. The police and the media making this known is a dumb move.

Not actually dumb if the point is to dissuade people from engaging in gangsterism. I don't see how saying it removes any secrecy about infiltrated secret agents since you wouldn't know who is the secret cop.
It's not actually dumb it's a tactic, they're sending out a message that there is a task team in place and trained gunmen brought to these meetings.
