The taxi destinations are logged, and the drivers are only allowed to drop you off at your designated, approved hotel. Once in the hotel, they call your room random times during the day to make sure you’re still in your room.
I’m a dual citizen, so I am exempt from the visa requirement. All I had to do was present my Philippine passport together with my USA passport at the airport check in counter and at immigrations in Manila.

I plan on going to Philippines, is it ideal to alone? Should I be concerned about holdapers? And is it safe to ride taxi alone?
If you’re staying in Manila, you’ll be fine. Just use common sense and don’t go looking for trouble.
